Playing by Iron Man rules. Do I live or die?
Snarky replied to AyamSirias's topic in General Discussion
My Fire Fire Fire Blaster is on Iron Man rules. He has a self rez, and that of course does not count. Likewise being rezzed by a teammate. And I have done some 2 and 4 star stuff with him. Those deaths do not count. Well he has used some rezzes and hospitals besides that. But i forgot to count those. So they dont count. He is doing great for a vet level 110 Iron Man Fire Blaster. -
this struck me as incredibly on point. The USMC (Uncle Sugar's Misguided Children) has been a fanatical force since they were formed. Although they have a long American history as an organized and trained military force this is not what scares the shit out of anyone that faces them. They are not the Green Berets, or Navy Seals. In some wars they are largely draftees (Vietnam,,,,) What the USMC has is a history of acting like a Honey Badger in any fight they get in. Both individually and as complete units there are countless tales of an overwhelmed marine (or marine unit) just digging in and fighting against truly stupid odds. And sometimes they succeed, sometimes they succeed but with heavy casualties, and sometimes they get their asses handed to them. But whoever they fought.... they never seem to want to face Marines in combat again. Longbow are an extreme force of fanatics. They are not some UN police force. From the lowly rifleman to the Ballista these F-ers are a fight you know you need to bring your A game to. Now that you have compared them to Marines I believe it is time for me to explore A Longbow toon. Thoughts are already dancing. Sentinel....?

by iron man rules you were defeated i researched it carefully i meditated on it -
When you make an exemplar build, say for level 10 stuff you are a 50. You go through a full build out. Every power (in this case) after 14 is just there for muling globals. Or set bonuses. You can put as many purple on as you can fit in active or muled powers.

take this any way you want. i know dead people. bitch, you dead. -
I struggle with each archetype "not being perfect" I am seriously OCD in games Blasters. Say Ranged. Are designed as Blappers. Corruptors. "As a corruptor, you might strike your foes down with blasts of fire, entomb them in ice, infect them with radiation, or curse them with pure darkness. As your foes are weakened, your scourge ability kicks in, increasing your damage to an enemy as their hit points drop" NOoooooooo Mostly buffers and Healers. Most heals buffs affecting anyone but yourself. Villain? From what Universe, lollipop love land? Now, having said that I look at Marine on a Corruptor and I have to smile. This is a good debuff set. And the buffing it does is almost all also for the Villain Corr The Cone heal is a debuff. So, not too shabby. I can see a Villain using each of those powers and not being nitpicked by a morality GM for being helpful and heroic all the time. Most Corr secondaries fail that test laughably fast. Water is not my thing, but this looks like a solid addition for Corr, which, as we know, is a very fine Archetype.

most folks avoid knockback. once in a while someone embraces a different path

Wait…. This is still a topic? Really?

yeah, i couldnt think of a gentle way to end it. and since i am 400+ the snide comments about children come naturally. but it did leave me wondering.... what the F did this guy think i owed him? he might be a 60 year old stoner. but what the heall do i owe an idiot that tries to solo an AV and a giant room on a master run? uh... other than the snarky comments. and i think i gave a few of those. maybe more were needed?

So…. My gaming time is limited now. I am working a lot, and studying German a bit. I was decomposing…err decompressing after dinner and jumped on a PUG Master Market Crash that formed. Most of us just naturally fell into a kill most grind. We were killing fast, high dps team. We get to the last mission and have the tunnels half cleaned. And a death. This Sentinel just went to the end of the map, by themself, and decided to solo Roberts and the hundred or so minions on hand. in team chat I am like “why….why? Are you bored, stupid, stoned. Tell us” they owned up to being stoned, and offered a defense of trying to speed things up… i am like “thanks for ruining my limited gaming time. “. And i quit. It was a master run and we failed. then the sentinel sends me a pm about rage quitting….. so, after these folks fail are we supposed to stick around and help them deal with their emotions? Or is this one of those home schooled generation Z things? If it is there are going to be some rough adjustments for these folks in the working world. Unless they all fail upward into VP desks.

I can blow the doors off a posi team or stnapse team with a natural 15 for posi or natural 20 for synapse. This is due to 1) knowledge 2) complete lack of self control. On a Blaster I just DPS as fast as i can, leaving half the team wondering what just happened and the other half joining in the ROFLSTOMP

Most builds that are not made specifically for 20 content will lose the majority of their set bonuses. Attuned or not. There is a floor to most sets 20+ 25+ and a lot of the best srts are 30+. A custom built 20 will be rocking winters purples and pvps to get around this. But these are not sets common (in bulk) on high end builds. The set bonuses are good, but mostly run sideways to modern build goals. Again, do. Ot take my word for it. Open 3 high end builds on the boards at random. Look at the sets. Look at the “floor” of the attuned. It will become clear fast

If “ a lot of people “ dont have enhancement at 20 then any Blaster i run 20/50….10… will seem like god mode. Maybe the test here is not a level thing, but if you are running “raw dog” also, incarnate powers do not work below 45
-
I have run a LOT of PUG task Forces. multiply my horror stories I post by 20-100. I would MUCH rather have a native 20 on a Synapse than a exemplared 50. And I build an alt build specific for level ranges. The 'natural" 20 hits ED. The exemplared 50 gets 2 more powers, is not at ED, and has a bunch of global bonuses that generally dont mean much. Full upholstery and a bitchin stereo system will not win a NASCAR race.

i do run a lot of blasters the last couple years. yes, it is everything to a blaster.

i was going to snarkily mention that. or "while building the full suit" the components dry out. or that beautiful moment when it dries out mid experiment. this is a path to the burn unit. this expeiment explains what is hidden in the pineapple (water) and the effects of water on a lit on fire situation. You can hit damage cap at level 5 in a power. 1 acc SO, 3 Dam SO Generally I use 1 Acc SO, 2 Dam SO, and a P2W dam/rech/proc in powers I use a lot. This misses a little on natural damage but picks up a proc and rech. you can do that on 5 powers. you can always go 1 acc/3dam SO on any power. How is it hard to sproing off ED cap at low levels? You.... you arent still using training enhancement are you?
-
lets be clear. you need to hit and do damage. period. I have built a LOT of exemplared toons. I do this for badging Ouro. I would GLADLY trade the ability to actually make the toon the correct level rather than exemplar. A natural toon at 15-20-25 is more effective than a exemplared one. The only benefits a 50 gets coming down (and this only if built correct) is to have "unusable powers" that mule globals and set bonuses. This does not make up for your attacks hitting behind 40 oz boxing gloves/pillows. you also get access to 1-2 more powers (up to that 5 levels above) That is not bad, but it usually is just "nice" Having your teeth filed down is just annoying.
-
If, big if, you build for it you may get some advantages. Power enhancement is NOT one of them. A natural 20 can easily max damage but an exemplared toon will be below cap significantly.
