    Dark/Dark Revision

I am very grateful Oldskool. I read your analyses of various Sentinel sets with great interest. I am going to take an afternoon and think about things. I am nearly positive I will be adding in Touch of Fear and probably building a lot closer to your concepts than I was going with mine. Again, thanks for taking the time to look at this! I do not have Endurance issues except very rarely when exemplaring or against a TON (and I mean a TON of end drainers like DE), even Super Sappers do not bother me much unless exemplared low. For these cases I have the P2W Endurance cheat 🙂 I do run Cardiac. My stone cold Psi Res is 89.7 or thereabouts. My S/L is high 80s But i will be squeezing on ToF and prob moving the two slot from Cloak of Fear over to that. (It is there for the Energy Res as much as the proc. I am not a great builder but I try to always do at least 2 and preferably 3 things with each enhancer set placement
  2. I recently made a minor change on my build for my main Dark/Dark. I am also looking at a major change which would be dropping the Sorcery pool (Arcane Bolt, Mystic Flight, Rune of Protection) and replacing with Fly, Leadership Assault, Leadership tactics. I find Defense meh on a Dark armor, going away just when you need it most. Therefore the Leadership Def toggle is iffy for me. Promoting damage and accuracy from anyone near me along with misc prot from weird status effects I think would be more useful. Also, continuing to pump accuracy to kick Soul Drain and my three "active toggles" (DoT, Fear, and Stun (Stun toggle has crap base accuracy)) I feel is more useful to survival and accomplishing my goals. So, here is my proposed build. Probably respec into it this weekend. This Villain build was built using Mids Reborn 3.0.4.7 https://github.com/Reborn-Team/MidsReborn Click this DataLink to open the build! 3. Are the new travel power changes live yet? I did a respec to have a "travel power build" both to experiment with them and to get the dreaded winter ski slope badges. The flight pool still allows you to take afterburner as a power pick and it stays on permanent when you do use it.
  4. It's been said before, many times, many ways. Enjoy yourself. Last night I join a MotherShipRaid. I reallllllyy do not like MSRs lol. But, I want badges, so....4 to go. It is a very experienced leader. We recruit fast, head out. Kill pylons. Boring. Check, done. Up onto Ship. I need a bomb badge. (5 actually) I go to the farthest door, kick it in fast. Someone (Mutha Puss Bucket!) zips right past me for the bomb. Blood Pressure goes to 2000 . I check my badges. I got credit. Grrrr. Sigh. I zip to the center. The General is already a 1/3 down. I slap him for credit. Okay. Both badge requirements done. Now, a half hour grindfest. Shit. As a Brute I cannot just sit in the center either. I sullenly go about the job of herding the aliens (Which I have gotten pretty good at...) 1/2 hour later. Done. But not done. We go kill the drop ship. Knock it down. I got the kill shot. 100 million! lol. Okay, that takes the sting out of an hour of alien boring and stress lol. I didnt realize but at least one of my SG mates were on the League, I gotta congrats. Now, just 4 of those dam things to go. But even though I do not like them I practice running the character and each time learn how to herd better, how to use my powers a little more effectively. Even at something I "do not enjoy" like a MSR I find something to do. Different technique to pull mobs. Pull from farther. Whatever. Of course, a 100 mil would be nice after each MSR. Devs? You hear?
  5. sure is, i've killed him quite a few times
  6. they will keep indefinitely while frozen, but if not dressed before they are frozen the meat will most likely be pretty rancid when it thaws
  7. i only did it for my main. it is a Brute built traditional redside style....no taunt. but i am doing TFs where sometimes i need taunt, so i dropped a billion or so into nearly the same build with taunt. although with travel changes i might respec the main build and further diverge the two
  8. perspective. it is not weak. it makes you nigh indestructible with no i/o. but i/o builds are not just common, they are required for a lot of hot rolling late game teams. (and some early game teams that are...overenthusiastic....?) So any benefit that Stone had is overshadowed by everyone having their special place with none of the penalties (except purchasing i/o builds)
  9. Do you mean the set bonuses disappear or the enhancer stops working altogether?
  10. what is the command to change builds when not at a trainer? thanks
  11. i have only done one. a treespec i needed for a redside accolade. I dropped a lot of temp summons and it was a breeze (this toon had solo'd redside and never used any of the temps from storylines.... still mostly hasn't lol)
  12. i build Dark for more resist and throw a nod ate Def, knowing it goes away when fighting tough enemies. But it just ended up being slow deaths....sigh. My own 3 debuffing auras couldnt hit, which do most of the lifting on Darks defense vs trash, and yeah, having no heal....
  13. Ouro predated Incarnate content by....years? Our main wish for it live was a way to hit banks for badges. Which was a near constant meme thread on the boards.
  14. My coalition did a Posi 2 a couple days ago. Two teams of 6 headed through it. We sped through everything, mostly delayed by finding mission objectives. However, at the last mission, once inside the doors to get the interior bombs, it got ugly. We were all exemplared and well versed in the TF. So we were all spread out. That room, sigh. Not a great idea to spread out. My poor Dark/Dark Brute went in to tryy to Tank for an objective. 3-4 large pulls were on him. The debuffing accuracy was cruel. Died 3 times and finally used a P2W ethereal shift to go hide. It did reinforce my decision to main dark/dark lol. I normally am debuffing my opponents accuracy! However at that level at that volume I had no chance. Thankfully we completed the objectives (no idea how much I helped in there) and someone TP formed us up for the final battle.
  15. so this discussion continues to grow and change and not die... maybe if we attack it with enough i/o builds we can kill it and get some merits?
  16. do you have the buff powers from P2W (50 charge end rec, health rec etc) AND the 3 1 hour buffs from P2W (survival assault, and one other, think they are called amplifiers) and the buffs from base salvage machines? You want every advantage? Go team temp!
  17. I thought about this today. There are a few good 'work-arounds" that have been offered. Some of them are actually in use by quite a number of players. I definitely appreciate this type of feedback. My concern about the "work-arounds" is that they are just that. I just talked to a player yesterday that had not logged in since live. New to Homecoming. I saw a question he had in Help and immediately switched from Grandville to Blueside to look him/her up. I found them in Talos, but they were in LFG so couldnt accept team invite. No issues, of course they were right by the train station lol. I chatted with them, dropped some Inf on them, gave a few tips. Always nice to see a new/returning player. So sad they want to be a hero, yet I keep hoping they will see the wisdom of being truly chaotic! Tangent. Okay, so... They were in LFG. ding ding ding. They had been asking about DFB. I pointed out that we formed teams and the LFG thing was not so good. You see, we mostly all know the "work-around" New/returning players do not. What I would love to see is the ability to join several long term groups. ("Shadow SGs," no base, so no storage abuse if that is the concern) What the groups would have is a SG name, roster, window to see who is on, etc. A virtual SG with no real estate. Bonus points if you can name them something wicked for Redside. But this would allow Tanker Tuesday teams, Master Blaster Disaster, Ice Cold Monday group, RP groups, that a character could join, and have access to long term social groups that they want to be a part of. Not, work arounds, not side roads and shortcuts through alleys everyone local knows, I am talking big modern state of the art freeways with lights and directions and easy on and off ramps.
  18. Basically I ended up dropping the fear and stun toggles from my main build (only work on minions and Lts) and adding in Taunt and Leadership Assault. Defense if iffy on dark, I prefer to depend on teammates buffing me and burning down w/e I am tanking. I do have one question. A couple of my bonuses violate the rule of 5. Mids pegs Ragnaroks Fire/Cold Res 6% but i think this is just the 10% mez res part of the bonus. Do I still get the cold/fire res? Oh, and in the live version the sets on Midnight Grasp and Smite are reversed. Pain to do in MiDs but was suggested by a friend and is much smarter. 19. Doesnt the MC Boss have a special mechanic? I forget what it is but he either does more damage the longer he is out, or has more dam res, or gets taller? I forget. But yeah, this is CoH at it PUGyest. (and I PUG a LOT) I can read it like traffic on a freeway (my job is driving) You can see in advance who will jump lanes, etc. It is all so tawdry and predictable. Then there are the great drivers. Always safe to be on the road with and even during an icy storm you can count on them not to 'accidentally' do something stupid. Just not in their wheelhouse. Everyone stays safe, gets the job done. There are a LOT more of the pros on HC then there are the Freedumb players. But it is definitely a mixed pack. The ability to ROFLSTOMP through almost all content does seperate the wheat from the chaff when you hit the wall. Some folks have no idea what to do. Was on a PUG advertised for "quick treespec 2" Joined. We rock the first two missions. Get to the last tree room. Wait a minute. These mobs are +4. Were we at +4 all along? Crap. You cannot do this on +4 pre incarnate. At least a PUG team cannot. There were four of us. I send a polite tell "are we at +4?" no response. a minute later. "I dont think we can do this. we should reset diff, log for a min, then try" no response. A minute later. the leader "lets do that" We logged. 3 came back. We finished easy. I learned that trick from other players who are good and know how to succeed and have fun. But getting a PUG team to change course? Like unsticking a ship in the Suez canal....
  20. People level so fast (generally) and accolades either 1) take so long (day jobs) and/or 2) require higher level content to achieve certain conditions creates a situation where accolades are generally only available at end game.
  21. I see what you are saying. I prefer if it is an codified system for a couple reasons. Not everyone is good at/likes those options. Also, if that was working to accomplish the goal of creating long term character connections it would be obvious by now. It is not obvious, not to me. It is obvious to me the SG system creates long term character connections. I do like where this is going though. Zeroing in on the issue I am attempting to address (thenk you everyone for helping me think out loud) which is long term character interaction with other established characters they game well with. What you just said is also intriguing. If, big if I know, there were chat channels with a visible roster (the 'face' of an SG) that were character specvific and you could join a decent number of (5+?) I believe it would solve the bulk of the issue I believe needs to be addressed. Again, the issue is making play experience better through having established groups you can easily game with. I do have a great SG I very recently joined on Excelsior. Up until now I have been exclusively PUGing (and I team a lot...) On Virtue I was part of a small but active group called Brickhouse. We all know good teammates can make a gaming session incredibly easy, fun, and productive OR bad teammates can make a session frustrating and near useless. Having more options to network a character that are easily visible, intuitive, and usable is a very good way to promote stronger teamming and in the end greater enjoyment. Transact for Victory!
  22. The coalition change would not solve the issue (not the solution I am trying to cram in, but what I perceive to be the issue) that i want to address. I have discussed this above. I have also discussed above that a solution to the issue may not include base storage access to any SG besides your main group. The issue that I am looking at is how to create groups, Super Groups, that have a bond. Not a friends list, not a coalition that your character (unless head of the SG) has no control over and is limited by nature. The Super Groups, Star Teams, Super Teams, call them what you will, would ideally be long term groups that form in game. Not account wide, but character specific. In this way a Ice Dom might belong to their "main SG" and also Super Teams 1) Dominators of Rogue Isles 2) Ice Guild of Paragon 3) League of Calamitous Intent 4) Friday night levelling crawl 5) TF Saturday Excelsior THis would allow for more of a connection to other players in the game, better teaming due to knowing the people on your team. Yes, it is easy to team on Excelsior. No, it is not always pleasant. Yes, it is a LOT more pleasant when you have run with the peeps regularly. Kapeesh?
  23. I am Soooper happy with my Dark/Dark main. There is one thing (always) lol Sometimes I am called on to "really" tank. With Taunt. And I have a true Redside build, no taunt. Since I am unwilling to give up my "perfect" build I am going to create a 2nd build, Tank. I never do this, expense vs usefulness. But this is my main, my badger, and I have most of the Enhancers and all of the cash. Will be on this a while. Since i am doing this I want to do it as good as I can. Add Taunt and increase my resistances so Hybrid Melee or Rune of Protection will keep my at Cap. Since this will be just for League/Team play i am (guessing) I dont need to be as concerned with damage, as that will be teammates job and/or the league will buff my Brute butt up to the stratosphere despite any weakness in enhancing. (This is one of the questions I have for those who run Brute - Tanks...is that right???) I will be pecking at the MiDs build today or tomorrow. Unless I get all motivated (this is doubtful 🙂 ) So any ideas, concepts, build tricks and/or builds for a Brute Dark/Dark Tank I would love to hear. Thanks.
  24. Sorry you never got to read a lot of comics. There were many "crossover" events, and an uncountable number of "appearing in" because Comics are basically a giant Soap Opera looking for more drama and interest all the time.
