I have yet to play Rad….but I have played a lot of Dark Armor. That heal will take you from nothing to FULL health. And on a decent recharge build you can stand on it because it is up extremely fast. I am away at work so I do not know how often Rad heal is up. I slot for set bonuses as I build with a weather eye to giving a power what it needs (esp frankenslotting). The purple set was chosen specifically for set bonuses. If, after laying in the initial build in MiDs, I discover I have easily achieved and exceeded my build goals I will then luxuriously start changing what sets I am using to achieve 2nd and 3rd build goals. That never happened here. So without seeing a better direction or understanding Rad better I am loathe to second guess my first choices

My resists were just not where I want them to be. I play a lot of invul. Giving up the defense aspect of the game (no inherent def, no def debuff res, not chasing softcaps) i expected to see better % but they are still in invul neighborhood mostly. At least with Dark you get tons of tricks to sly past hole in def (stealth, stun, fear, best heal in game) with Rad you get….??? Now I have not played it yet, but I am not impressed at the walkup. I was hoping for serviceable AoE and I know Energy has a good ST chain. I like tanky builds so that was the structure i was looking for. I fit procs on as they naturally occur in my set building. I do not chase them

I neer play Rad and have yet to really sit with an Energy since the great changes. I tried to make this build as a Brute, was unhappy with the numbers. Looks impressive as a Tank. My MiDs show the same AoE for Tank and Brute, but these power sets should have fatter AoE on the Tank, yes? This Hero build was built using Mids Reborn 3.0.5.7 https://github.com/Reborn-Team/MidsReborn Click this DataLink to open the build! I have never run Rad before. I was wondering what are the upsides/downsides. Looking for just a middle of the road build. Maybe a touch on the Tank side. (I run a lot of Invul) The numbers for resists seem hard to push and the thing looks (to me) like there are almost no passable powers, so a tight build.

Flaming armor on a fire stalker. Take one demon. Powers are stealth and fire. Sure it is on fire all the time. It mostly in an alternate sidestepped dimension space. Then it spots the chosen target. Boo! You’re dead!

definitely will/energy tanker then. invul is better with a big i/o build

PVP or where on the doll did the PvPers touch you
Snarky replied to The_Warpact's topic in General Discussion
Open world PvP = bunch of PvP vets on one faction camping another factions area (usually a hub or starting zone). Exactly what every mmorpg needs right…, -
For me? I like the above post about healing and rez lol. And we pick archetype i suppose. Cars hurt. and i love the Tick! Since Super Strength is F-ed in game (who wants to be weak every two minutes?) I would go Willpower/Energy Melee Tank. With Fly. (I always take fly....)

i like the idea

PVP or where on the doll did the PvPers touch you
Snarky replied to The_Warpact's topic in General Discussion
Sigh. They knows me so well.... Honestly though I do not PvP. You can pick your reason from the menu above. None were 'wrong' A little backstory however. I started playing games back in the mists of time with sticks, dice, and cards. Watch the sticks. That's PvP! Then i graduated to boardgames. A few months ago someone invented computers and such. I enjoyed the dungeon crawlers etc. Not so much the Tekken and the like. I found that tactical and strategic understanding were worth garbage versus luck, knowing the exploits, and memorizing one arcane attack chain per game. When i found CoH some weeks ago I landed Redside on Liberty. (I thought it was crowded coming from console gaming.) PvP in CoH operates NOTHING like PvE. Read above paragraph for "luck, exploits, and knowing one attack chain" Add to this the fact that PvP badges are needed for accolades and a certain resentment set in. As I moved to busier servers achieving these badges on alts was a process in dodging griefers in PvP zones. Some are born to be an ass, snarky, and generally rude, some achieve being an ass, snarky, and generally rude and some have being an ass, snarky, and generally rude thrust upon them. I felt like being forced into PvP zones for PvE badges was a bit of a shit game decision from a Dev standpoint. ymmv You want to PvP. Join me in a nice game of chess. Or....we can play "sticks" -
Is there a way to make PBAoE's less loud?
Snarky replied to Stormwalker's topic in General Discussion
Yes. You will need to search around in a few places but sooner or later you probably will find one of the many volume sliders built into the software/hardware for your setup. -
I get that. I would still love a spreadsheet, but this makes sense. And it is a "edge" case. You need an attack set that is AoE heavy and an armor set with a damage aura and another AoE if possible (I am guessing Rad or Fire?) With Fire you are not the hardiest of armor sets, so giving up a little. I have never played Rad, so I cannot speak to it. Been stuck on Dark concepts....for a while. This also postulates a target rich environment of trash mobs. You may be doing a battle of a thousand cuts to 17 EBs and Bosses but I think I would prefer a Dark/Invul Brute there. Just take the things down and use AoE as it recharges.

I always like more options. I am a character creator. Give me limited options and there is only so much I can do. With CoHs many ATs, power options, and costume design choices there are many opportunities I wish there was MORE customization available. Fore with a secondary effect of -resist instead of +damage. Energy blast with a secondary effect of +damage instead of knockback. Etc. But the poor old games coding can probably only handle so much and the Devs time is a gift that is not infinite

I would like to welcome you to ROFLSTOMP play. This is by no means new. It is pretty much the final (current) evolution that started with Redside and Brutes If the above irritates you sorry. Not sorry. Ot is not the Brutes fault. They was built that way. You see back in the day Brutes were a LOT harder to play. No inherent fitness meant soaking valuable power picks into health to then pick stamina. Two picks required for a travel power. Mez protection not available until 14-18. Your only real ability was DAMAGE. Taunt was a luxury you could not afford. So…. To pump damage to the max you needed FURY. This was a bit harder to come by as well. And it decayed fast. So Brutes learned to cannonball fresh spawns to keep Fury pegged and damage at a good level. Teams followed the Brute. Period. Got no idea what the Tanks excuse is…..thinks they are a Brute? Addicted to ROFLSTOMP? After learning the ROFLSTOMP playstyle there is no going back. ROFLSTOMP is a helluva drug When you say “kill most” that means different things to different people. To a Brute it means endless chances to cannonball fresh spawns Kaizen I know that you know this. But I am Snarky TM pat pend lic #¥€¥=1337

I will always love the original Mercy Island. Not the watered down version we currently have. The grim sordid petty little place where you busted out of prison and then started becoming a villain. Fort Darwin, my home, lost in time. I was quite impressed with Goldside. With a better understanding of the game, more time, more tools, the Devs really made a great environment there. I hate the political nature of Goldside. But the zones? Fuggedaboutit.

Always been a dream of mine that we were allowed to join multiple SGs. Happens in the comics all the time Then you could have a storage base and a social group. sigh.
-
I love your idea about "Found" and I would suggest you consider writing a short piece on the leadership, organization, and any early interior political schisms of the found. the group in a nutshell. from there you can build the group outwards, leadership (AV? Hero? GM???) and how the group communicates, and basically gets stuff done....
-
you can kickstart certain events in game by doing things like completing a LGTF. So.... But I am unsure of any event before Halloween. Seems a long way away.

No one is interested in making this type of MMORPG now. No one with cash. You are not going to find it. This reminds me of someone who wants the experience of travelling through the wild wild west. But they want to do it in a six wheel drive 30 ft camper with plumbing and a home entertainment system. I can relate. i hate sleeping outdoors. But the wild west only exists out there. they are not making any more of it and recapturing it is really just recapturing a thing that seems like a thing that someone thought was the wild west. It is gone my friend.
