  1. Anybody get the feeling all that money we donated for "the next City of Heroes" after the great snap....went to finance somebody's tentacle pron collection?
  2. My Dark/Dark Brute and Dark/Dark Blaster have stayed up way longer in difficult situations based on the Heal powers available to them. The things are like cockroaches
  3. It seems we have a person who has found the game and is passionate about what they are finding out about it i know it is hard to believe. I have been incorrect about things in some of my posts. *looks at suggestion thread for increasing sentinel resist caps last week, facepalm. Yet we all come to the boards to post ideas and get feedback. Enjoy the journey
  4. While some of us could reasonably be confused with powergamers (*cough) that does not mean we are not slaves to theme. Dark/Dark is an insanely good Brute. While it is a resist set it has Stun, Fear, Stealth, and to hit debuffs meshing to provide a pseudo defense that is quite respectable
  5. I always had a rollicking time with SS/Will Brutes. At 50 SS/Invul can be built stronger. But for a tourist run through 1-50 I would recommend that. Or with the recent changes Energy/Will Brute I recently dud the same with a Dark/Dark Blaster. It is faster but harder. Driving a stripped down stock muscle car instead of a fully loaded touring sedan
  6. I prefer Brutes. Always have. Various reasons. I have some Tanks. I build them EXACTLY the same as Brutes. One exception. I take taunt on every Tank and never take it on Brutes. Tanks (especially since the update on Tanks including improved AoE) are respectable melee damage dealers. Blaster level damage? What? No! But they do damage, They kill stuff. They are effecting every fight strategically as well as tactically removing opponents.
  7. You know me well lol. Yes, according to modern PROC it until you run out of places to proc, then add powers that you can proc, I am indeed slotting sub optimally. here is a recent Beam/Will i enjoyed bringing to 50. Then got there and was not adding a lot to the teams I was on. This Hero build was built using Mids Reborn 3.0.5.7 https://github.com/Reborn-Team/MidsReborn Click this DataLink to open the build! 8. I have quite a few 50 Sentinels. Ones I have taken through the Freedom Phalanx TFs as I leveled to see how they ran. Different powersets. In the end…sigh. To me….to me the things just feel underpowered. I have seen good arguments for the power of the Sentinel T9 Nuke with its shorter recharge timer. Potent with the to hit debuff on Dark Blast for instance. Sigh. The target cap. Oof. I have (and am not alone) in the past made a few threads about ways to improve the Sentinel. Things that could be done. Many involved strategies for improving the damage Today a new thought occurred to me. Mostly leave the damage and target caps alone. que drum roll…. Increase Resistance caps to 90%, same as Brutes and Tanks. but that is not all. remove that….thing they call an inherent. Horn section, NOW! Give Sentinels an Alpha Slot ability (chosen on initial character generation screen like primary/secondary sets) as the inherent for that Sentinel. This will never be able to be changed for that particular Sentinel This will leave Sentinel Damage mostly alone ….unless they all take musculature…then….still not game breaking. And I think Sentinels will choose to find Alphas that complement the build concepts. Sure, a lot will take Musculature. So be it. The higher Resist caps along with a customized inherent would take this decent but also underperforming Archetype and change it into an exciting vehicle for many character concepts. All while not overpowering the character or breaking the game Remember….target caps stay the same. Damage stays the same except where altered by inherent choice. Resistance caps go up, but no resistances are increasing, except when altered by the chosen inherent que grand crescendo. I like a big exit

    Hover blaster?

You seem to be doing about like me and I have been at it a while. there are a FEW tricks. They are not easy. They are not hotkeys. At least not for me. 1) Memorize your maps. Those obstructions and turns are in the same place 99% time. Then some idiot adds cobwebs or paneling once in a blue moon. But mostly once you learn a map you can safely negotiate it quickly while flying. 2)Pick a target. scan the group you are about to burn down. target nearest. Is it somebody about where you want? If not manually pick one. Then swoop and let loose some damage AoE. Even if you cannot see them you will be targeting on that mob. If that mob dies or you cannot find up from down pick ANYBODY. keep the DPS flowing. unless you are on a farm map there really arent that many. Just feels that way. Kill kill kill. 2A) as you swoop down (hopefully you are stealthed or have a stealth proc.... you will lose altitude. Pick your target and move up to correct range then let loose your AoE. If it is needed and you have time. Above all else keep blasting. Remember. 8 FEET is "ranged"
  10. I tend to run banished Pantheon Core Superior Ally. this is a choice. But it is a "forced" choice. They do better damage (I am told) and they are practically required by my SG's (Cosmic Council) weekly Really Hard Way Master of Magisterium Incarnate Trial badge runs. As a Vampire my preference is Storm Elementals. This has nothing to do with powers and is all about dark gloomy clouds. Wish they could be recolored so they are more sickly and less pink/purple however. Another favorite of mine is Polar Lights. Just because they do not clutter the screen. Really thematic for my Ice Blasters too. What are the pluses/minuses/reasons you take the Lores you do? This is honestly an area of the game I pay almost zero attention to. Any insights are appreciated.
  11. Yeah i like to use Soul Drain first….but there are many times i choose just aim instead. I get pulled into a lot of hard content lol last night a 50 scrapper SG mate asked me along on a carnie map. Not sure what their setting were but i am guessing it was +0/x3-4. There were a lot of Carnies. Kill all medium sized warehouse. Many times we were split up. I would sneak into center of a fresh spawn, Aim and Blackstar. Then Soul Drain as they were to hit debuffed. Not as spicy but safer. Dark Consumption was very useful as well, saving me on using blues as much. After I nuked I would back up and start spamming cones. More important to keep everyone knocked down, debuffed, and slowly melting then focus on any ST. I did not die once. The Scrapper dropped at least one time i saw. Granted i was on a fully incarnated 50+3 (effective +1, but all tier 4d etc). But the Dark/Dark/Soul I run is very sturdy in hard content. Even the couple times when the strategy went to crap and i got surrounded the Blaster held up and burned everything down.
  12. Most people think a pirates favorite letter is the Rrrrrr. They are wrong. It is the Cccceeeee
  13. There are whole communities of this stuff. With rulz. I even know someone who keeps trying it with only what drops. No stores or buying from auction or getting stuff from anywhere but enemies
  14. No it was definitely an Orange set and the answer was given up thread

  16. sigh. I hate to say this. (I love to say this!) Learn to play! Get off my lawn! seriously you want a Blaster. You just do not want the current builds. You want a conservative build made for the game as it was back on live.
  17. Good luck on the bughunter badge!
  18. Building for +range on dark/dark is nice, but definitely a third tier goal in my opinion. Why? first, it is good. It helps extend the cones. Any +range gives more flexibility overall. Bad points, until you get used to cones it is easy to agro a second group with a long cone. You line up the perfect shot. And get the pack behind the group you were aiming for as well. Sometimes too much. Slapping in i/o that do not reinforce 1st and 2nd tier build goals is many times counterproductive. Lastly, as much as I love range Dark/Dark/Soul is naturally hanging out at 40-60. +range will not change that much. You need to be close enough to jump in for the Nuke, the End bar refill, and Soul Drain. You need to be out far enough to let the narrow cones get wide before they hit a group, help with aiming, stay out of melee attack range and give less of an AoE target profile. Building for softcap ranged defense. Oh, yeah... That is one of the first build priorities I have. Softcap Ranged defense and a smart playstyle will allow you to still be doing damage long minutes into a tough tough fight. You can build for damage, proc it out, and have a terrific Alpha. But if you have to run, eat inspirations like candy, or pick yourself up off the ground your DPS goes to ....zero. I can go in before a tank (thanks stealth) hit tier 9 Nuke. (has massive to hit debuff) sometimes soul drain after if still a lot of mobs left. Then zip out to a good spot to lay down cones or start a ST burn down chain. I can do this when a team has no tank. All while dealing Blaster DPS. Not Proc Fire Fire Blaster DPS, but still Blaster DPS. Here is a neat bit of logic. You only need so much Defense before chasing any more becomes less useful. Here is a neater bit of logic. You can only kill a mob to a certain amount of deadness. After that they do not get any more dead. No more experience. No more drops. Nothing. My dark/Dark/Soul Blaster only has two damage Procs. It was built for softcap ranged defense and a playstyle that uses knowledge as a weapon. Knowing where mobs will be. Knowing how tough mobs are. Knowing who to kill. Knowing who to slap holds on. (Looking at you Victoria robots, Paragon protectors....) Sure, there are Blasters out there that kill faster. But I can get into a place and fight a long battle where that type of Blaster cannot kill fast enough to survive. Once I agro something I am debuffing its accuracy. I keep it away from me so it has to get through my ranged defense. I have a heal that is part of a decent high ST DPS chain. I win those wars of attrition. Then i let stealth fall back over me and go see where the team needs the next nuke placed.
  19. This is more or less what my faulty memory was saying. However i encountered someone (who i believe) saying a bombardment or artillery (forget which one) was giving set bonuses at level 4!
  20. i had a "belief" about how set bonuses work as you exemplar down. but some sets do not seem to be conforming to these rules. can someone (everyone?) post what the rules are for set bonuses as you exemplar down.

    Hover blaster?

One of your points appears to be since it does not have melee attacks it does not make a good hover blaster. I am confused a lot in life. This statement is just not helping
  22. I do not enjoy the socio political subtexts with hard coded underlying philosophical good choices and bad choices. Feels like forced, clunky, rats in a lab maze with one final destination dreck to me
  23. I only use multiple builds very rarely. For instance on my Farmer. My farm build is very good…against one specific custom built group of enemies. So i have a “standard” build for the character that does task forces and regular missions.
