You might be able to skip Dark Consumption. I wouldnt. It is an incredible End Rec power and while not needed often when you do need it you NEED it. Also a nice ghetto PBAoE to follow up Blackstar if crap aint dead yet. I would never skip Life Drain. A hard hitting ST attack that gives you health...

i fully enjoy ice secondary on blasters. I had built and incarnated an Ice/Temp Blaster and then tried Ice/Ice. The Ice/Ice (for me) is just more effective. Ice Patch is situational but dam powerful. Shiver is very effective at keeping the enemies off your back for a few more precious seconds of kill time. And it got a fat arc.

I took Hurl because that was the way Hyperstrike built it. Rarely used. This is due to the amount of recharge in the build. Not needed much. I will say it is one of the more powerful ranged attacks available to a melee. knock and -fly? oh that works! But the slow animation. Yeah, its a niche power.

i love my outfits. i spend long times in the editor tweaking the same 7-8 themes for new alts. However....lol...i am not good. recently got into an SG themed day job contest. i tried to make a fireman outfit. hmmm. just got frustrated and made a lab research scientist. not bad, but it want a Picasso either. Someone showed up with a knock your socks off Fireman. including a kitty on each shoulder that had been saved from trees. utilizing parts to create the overall gestalt that i never thought to put together in that way. yeah, that costume won. my ego....sigh.....another shattered dream on my way to the grave. again.

You should upgrade. $20,000 in modern comp equipment can only improve the CoH experience. Right?

Let me preface this by saying I am not a great artist. However, with years of practice when I focus I can create something passable. I still remember an art exhibition in school. i worked hard on a colored pencil drawing for it. Turned out pretty good. Refused. When I collected it I was told it was good work, but that the exhibition was being judged by someone who had a particular thing they were looking for. No where was this mentioned in the materials about submitting projects. Nothing is fair. Judges look for what sings to their hearts. As is their right. In fact choosing something because it is "good" instead of because you are like "THAT IS IT!" is the real unfairness.

Performance Shifter: Chance for +Endurance question
Snarky replied to Rustbeltcomics's topic in General Discussion
Unlike the Globals, Procs depend on the power they are slotted in to be activated in order to work. If the power isn't activated, then no benefit from the Proc. Consequently, exemplaring lower than the level of the power means the power is greyed out and can't be used (even passive powers follow that rule), which means the Proc won't work. However, the upside of Procs is that if the power is active, the Proc always works, even if you exemplar way below the level of the Proc. Procs don't follow the -3 level rule that Globals and Set Bonuses do. So, e.g., if you slot a level 50 Run Stealth in Sprint (a level 1 power) and then exemplar down to level 15, you will still get the Stealth bonus when you turn on Sprint even though you're 35 levels lower than the level of that Special IO. I buy attuned/attune everything EXCEPT Purples! But with Procs it does not matter. they follow different rules. -
Oh, I said this in Redside peak. "Can anyone track down the offender and exact furious retribution?" Blueside. Right. Right. "Did anyone attempt to reach out to the Player...?" Yeah. That is what i meant. nudge nudge, wink wink, say no more.

Long freaking Monday. Work, workout, staring down a long work week. Logged in for a few minor things. Auction. ran a couple missions in Ouro. Saw an ad for a 400 million Costume Contest. (I NEVER win these, but I enjoy the ritual of our game) Headed to Echo, along with quite a few folks. Long story short. We was punked. No contest. I do not want to feed the trolls. I almost did not post this. But this (well, almost everything when you get down to it) really pisses me off. I have never seen a Costume Contest not happen after an ad. Is this thing starting to be a thing? Was this indeed a one time occurrence I happened to stumble upon? Can anyone track down the offender and exact furious retribution? Enquiring minds want to know!

Performance Shifter: Chance for +Endurance question

What does de-synced mean in this context? -
After a LOT of Blasting. (50d at least 6 builds, playtested, etc) I have settled into a Ice/Ice Blaster. This is just WAY more relaxed for my style. The ranged Nuke, the option to stay completely ranged. Less running around to line up the cones because I can place the two rains wherever I want. Hard hitting ST attacks for helping burn AVs down. A crapton of usefulness in slow and -rech secondary effects. This Hero build was built using Mids Reborn 3.0.4.7 https://github.com/Reborn-Team/MidsReborn Click this DataLink to open the build! Performance Shifter: Chance for +Endurance question
Snarky replied to Rustbeltcomics's topic in General Discussion
Performance Shifter is a PROC. Performance Shifter will generally perform better in Stamina when it has a chance to fire passively regularly. MiDs has it as 1.5 PROCs per minute. That would be about every 40 seconds 10% of Endurance gain. You would need saturated targeted fields in the ball powers (Not as common as we hope AND desperately need Endurance at that time) to get the most out of slotting this into an AoE attack, Here is the text from the wiki: Procs All the other Special IOs are called 'Procs.' The term comes from Positron: I'll talk about the Enhancements. The last one in the list is a Proc, meaning a procedure that has a chance of happening. Every time you fire your sniper power with the Toxic DoT Proc Enhancement slotted in it, there is a chance your target gets hit with a Toxic Damage over Time effect as well as the normal damage and effect of your Sniper attack. The term Proc originally came from the days of some of the MUDs which used the term 'spec_proc' or 'special procedure' to denote game events the player could possibly trigger. The term was popularized by EverQuest as 'procs.' Those who come from the World of Warcraft have given the 'proc' the backronym "Programmed Random OCcurrence." But since Positron and CoH preceded WoW, we use the term and definition our Developers use. Since Procs work when the power is activated, then they continuously work when slotted in a Passive Power or in a Toggle that's turned on. Procs that are in continuous powers cycle or pulse on once every 10 seconds. This is also true when they work in certain pseudopets like 'rains' or 'patches' that have an enduring effect. If slotted in a click power, Procs activate just once for the duration of their effect. Most Procs have an effect that is immediate (like the chance to damage Procs) or last a few seconds (like the mez Procs). Some Procs that provide a self buff have a duration of 120 seconds and will last a full two minutes past when the power is clicked. Procs which affect targets have a chance of activating for each target the power 'hits.' This makes Procs slotted in area of effect powers very beneficial; more so if it's a continuous area of effect like rains and patches. Procs that have a chance to do damage, do so based on the level of the character and not the level of the Proc. The damage is not modified by Archetype. See Table of Proc Damage for specifics. Procs from IO sets brought from the Paragon Market work a little differently to crafted IO procs. Instead of a percentage chance every time the power which the Proc in is activated, the chance of it firing is dependent on the "Procs Per Minute" set on the enhancement itself, and the slotted power's recharge and number of targets. See Procs Per Minute for more details. -
What's hurting Dark Primary for Blasters?
Snarky replied to Solarverse's topic in General Discussion
I ran Invulnerability on live and for my first 6 months here. I switched to Dark for my main. Yes, it is that tough. The Three armor toggles, Damage, Fear, Stun? Heh. They work. -
Native Praetorian Doing All Gold Side Content
Snarky replied to Apparition's topic in General Discussion
i only did "all" goldside twice back on live. the most painful part about that was the damned endless tough mobs. i do not remember much, but i did "all" both sides flipping back and forth. did not have a problem.- 36 replies

Actually having great luck on Excelsior this weekend. On this one 40 Ice/Ice Blaster have done: (no particular ordfer, all PUG): Posi1, Posi2, Synapse, Yin, Moonfire, Citadel, Hess, Numina, Silver Mantis, DFB and DiB. My only rough run was the first Posi and a small gripe about not getting the hard badge in DFB. Will need to run again, sigh.... Seriously good gaming going on doing PUG Excelsior these days.

When I started out on live....Redside Liberty because I had no idea about server populations. I was pretty happy to street sweep in Port Oakes to get levels. It was not organized or pretty but it was fun. Of course Knockout Blow at that level is a hoot.

So I am badging on my new toon. Now at 40. Exp shut off for various reasons. I am running the Bluesie TFs as they pop up in LFG. Having danged good luck I must say. Then... When you live the PUG life, there will be pain. I joined a POSI 1. Leader was like "kill most" I am like, "long as its +0 then whatever" Went pretty smooth. Until when? Right, you guessed it. Final mission. As soon as we load in I say "Please do not go within 100 yards of town hall steps." One team wipe later we finish. Same leader, some exits/new faces for Posi 2. "Kill most" Sure. We get to last mission. Leader "we dont have to kill all but lets stay together and clear a path." I am actually starting to like this guy. Mebbe not. But not hating. We get through to the otside and the last bombs. One of the team "THis is a kill most. Why arent we killing stuff?" I am like "If we kill most of this mission we will be here two hours." We continue. As Vahz drops and we exit, in team chat "Dont leave. Stay and kill everything...." The PUG life chose me.

Here is my "ranged Blaster" Ice/Temp. Although I have switched over to Ice/Ice/Cold finding that for all intents and purposes Ice Secondary is as "ranged" as Temp, addresses enough of my issues and adds more ice secondary effects. What's hurting Dark Primary for Blasters?
Snarky replied to Solarverse's topic in General Discussion
I agree. My main is a dark/dark Brute. Very interesting style. However, the question is what is hurting dark primary. Lack of focus. Not in the artwork. In the attacks. It does some cones, it does some PB circles, Pick a style you want the set to fight with. Assault rifle. shoot that way. Ice, shoot that way and tailor your rains. Energy blast, throw balls and close to explode T9. It is a stinking hard job to keep the cones lined up. You have to predict mobs behavior and then be in the right spot. Energy Blast, Ice, Assault Rifle do not suffer from that issue. Repositioning Dark Blaster makes the DPS calculation hit the floor and stay there. Because you have to reposition all the time. I love Dark Animations and Style, and have a couple 50 Dark Blasters. But they are such a pain after I incarnate them I fold them up. Too many other easier sets to work with. If they fixed Dark I would jump on one and stay. As it is there are better options for me when trying to do my Blastery job. -
i have tried 4 times with all variations of these macros. none work 😞

Welcome Back! Look at Yomo's whizbang give away thread on the first page of general discussion. And get some of the give away! For long term teaming (serious, o soooooo serious 🙂 teaming there are Super Groups. i finally joined one. Chill group, good decision. For PUGs there is LFG, pretty darned active on Excelsior and now with 10% less Knuckleheads. (We cannot guarantee any minimum amount of knuckleheads. I get around 15-20% YMMV) There are some great Super Groups that have posted in Excelsior forum. Or just head to Atlas and explore by shouting LF Super Group. an....interesting....way to explore the community.

Yomo's Whizbang Potpourri Extravaganza of a Giveaway!

One is the loneliest number One -
I started this ice/ice as a Blapper. But playing it, even with a desire to build like a blapper, Ice/Ice/Cold just is not that. Not to me. Ice Slick (very nice, no extra slots needed, situational, funny, effective, keeping) and Frozen Aura. Meh, 6 slotted, still Meh. very short range. Dropping it. Will reconfigure the slots, prob to softcap Ranged Def. The build naturally wants to work at the 20-50 range. (Cones and rains) backing up to 80ish for hard targets. (I like to give my victims room in case they get ornery) I will stay in the 20-30 range for quite a while if things are not craptastic. But with lining up cones and the ability to drop rains at a distance I just dont see Ice desperately needing to augment Point Blank and go there. Drop Ice Slick and retreat....errrr retrograde while laying into the enemy. My fast paced team version of this is to jump AHEAD of the team, other side of the big spawns. Drop Ice patch and start dropping AoE, cones, rains, etc. Let the team and the mobs (slowly) come to me.
