  1. then i would have taken a shot at asking for Help with that "tough arc i cannot solo, 5 missions to go,, any help available?" If I was in game and not otherwise occupied I might jump in. Same with other veterans. Asking for what you need (exactly what you need) increases the likelihood of getting it. Redside has and always will be less populated. Dealing with it as such is a heck of lot smarter than coming to the forums with nebulous possible solutions the Devs might use, as most of this thread seems to be...errrr focused? on. One of the tools we have as a community is the global communications. Learning to use it effectively and clearly, while not a Panacea I/O, can change the situation for the better.
  2. I suggest next time you go to Help channel and ask something like "Can someone please help with a boss I keep failing on?" On Excelsior I answer these type of requests regularly and there are usually 2-5 other people that show up as well. Asking for Help is viewed differently than asking if anyone is interested in running X content for no merits and usually little experience (by and large only primary team leader gets reward merits if any) Asking for Help will get...Help.
  3. new perspective. please do not play redside. us villains like to be left alone in our misery and torment.
  4. yes, add many restrictions back into the game. until YOU get what YOU want. if it is not working fast enough add more restrictions. courteous nod to your redside strategies and tactics. btw, have you considered inconvenience fees like charging in game assets to open various ATs? i suppose grinding levels is part of that, but i am talking just buckets of inf.
  5. ice/cold corruptor has sick debuffs
  6. you have to scroll down for it....who scrolls down past what they went to the page for? blaster...brute...etc i guess i will close this topic and just research it on my own. not in the mood to quibble over these things.
  7. i never even knew that forum existed,
  8. so.....without seeming too Snarky (Reg Trademark, Pat. pending) Which Forum would i seek advice on that question? Controller, Dominator, or Corruptor? Wouldn't each of those forums, while knowledgeable, have an inherent slant?
  9. I was going to solo Redside on a Blaster. But changed my mind since I moved the Blaster project as my new 'main' and will be seeing quite a bit of it. Now i am thinking to do it on a Controller or a Dominator. Possibly a Corruptor. This will be a LOT of solo missions and story arcs at +0/x1 and then some PUG Task Forces for badges and fun. Character will bw enhanced, although slowly since it will not level quick. Which is more powerful? (I have run a very few Doms [grav&ice] and no Trollers. Tell me what is up with the choices if you would please. Yes, i am determined for it to be Dark/Dark/Soul. It is a theme I am doing. Focuses the feedback pretty well too!
  10. I want to do this. Although a standout memory from live is a failed old Positron TF. As I remember it was a weekend day. We gathered up 8 and headed in, complete PUG. 2 dropped in the first half hour. Before an hour was up we lost another. That was the tipping point. We were going slower. We lost 2 more in the next half hour. That left 3 with just a few more missions. They stayed 1 more. I am on an Energy Blaster. I somehow get everything done except the last boss. The last boss is an EB not an AV. I know I have a chance. It was a long ugly fight. I kept pulling to elevators and trying to use them to catch a break and recover. In the end.....abject and utter failure. Despondency. But yes I would play it again. They really need to add a badge for this masochistic crap though.

  12. i have an ice/ice blaster at 50. not the most damage on a blaster, but the absolute smoothest you will see at mid range. ice slick is only used tactically. drop it if overrun or if they rush you, or you are planning on pulling them through it. keep them at 30-60 range and use rains and cones to make them hate life

  14. (placeholder post because it looks like the thing to do)
  15. Redside...bestside. Few make the cut. Honestly most aren't willing to kidnap paragon civilians for live vivisection by Vahzilok. But I say if the job pays you just need to do it. Cash is king after all.
  16. No Nein Nyet Not even! Well, maybe. But seriously. Redside is just the most immersive. The goal of most video games is to kill things and take their stuff. People are...everything you pointed out. Which is why Redside is just smoother. Arrest? What? With the AR Blaster? The Tank using KO Blow? That stuff you collect from them...you are turning that into Paragon property management? No? Just keeping it then... Redside is pure. Just kill the fools and take their shit. With a little having to deal with Arachnos treating you like an errand boy and peeps double crossing you.
  17. Taunt is a great power. Glad you could squeeze it on. It is one of the most effective mob control powers in the game. Pre-inherent Fitness, back when you needed two powers to get a true travel power there were a lot of Brutes that struggled to squeeze taunt onto a build. We (and I was in the majority) decided to instead not take taunt. We developed a strategy of cannonballing into the new spawn and letting our taunt auras do the work while attacking. Once you have gotten in the habit of building and playing this way it is natural to come to the realization that taunt, while powerful, is a luxury not a necessity.

  20. I did not want to go Dark/Dark. Was not sure it would work well at high levels. But I have been experimenting with Blasters for a while now. Pulled an unslotted and mostly incarnated 50 Dark Dark off the back pages of my roster and rebuilt them from the ground up this morning. Then i joined a friend Tank in an AE and we had a bunch of 'friendly doorsitters' I hover blasted on the carnie map and jousted in for T9 Blackstar and Void Core (PbAoE) Final Judgement. Went at it about an hour. there were mistakes. There were deaths. Friendly TP to the door and back into the fight. Nice that part i must say. But i learned some things. Even though I slotted Touch of the Beyond for End Recovery (+88%) when hover blasting hard this thing eats end at a good clip. It is VERY nice to have Dark Consumption. Learned to Use Dark Pit when I wanted to go in or had drew a ton of personal agro to disorient a few and debuff tohit (Absol Amaze proc) 20' radius ranged attack. That ranged Heal attack Life Drain is gold in long tough fights. It will not save you from a stupid alpha, but it will pull your butt out of any other trouble. The 4 cones I have, 2 from Dark and 2 from Soul....I love. Some love cones, some hate. I have always liked. But with 4 similar cones? Fuggedaboutit. You do not need to line up and aim each cone. You get in position and start a fire hose, slightly adjusting as you go. Sure, every drop of water out of the hose you cannot plan. But with a constant stream you are going to get it going in the right direction. Touch of the beyond has a Mag2 Fear effect. i honestly never noticed this. This is 1) just fun, 2) sometimes useful I have the Moonbeam snipe slotted with a full set of Experienced Marksman, so the Snipe is always insta. Not sure if other Blasters like this. I do for long fights. I wish I could toggle it off once in a while for style, but overall i like. It is important sometimes to NOT try to take the time to saturate Soul Drain if you are not 98% sure you can get away with it. Just aim and nuke and run. Soul Drain is very good but has to be used clever or you face plant. Did I mention I really liked the TP to the door crew? They even dropped inspirations on me before I headed back in. Love a good pit stop. That is the bulk of what I learned over the course of the hour. Oh, and that it is a way more intensive battle setup than the Ice/Ice/Cold I have been running. To me anyways, quite a bit more work. It comes down to this, as InvaderStych said, enjoying the powerset is more important than the build options. Not sure if he/she meant it in exactly this way. But what I take that to mean is run what works and makes the toon you are creating. Then you will enjoy it. As far as build options, they are infinite. I love Ice/Ice. it just does not work here. There are things I love about this Dark/Dark already. Other things....Well, i need to practice a bit. Not sure if it is more end heavy than my ice/ice but it feels that way. But there is options to solve that, just gotta keep working the gears. Ice/Ice = automatic transmission. Dark/Dark 3 stick double clutched monster. But Dark/Dark makes me very happy for this concept. Heck, I may even learn to love the PB...no, nvm, I wont. But i will get good with it. Can a get another TP to the door?
  21. That is a well done character.
  22. i honestly did not know that. throwing our giant league buffs is something every incarnate does. still, not what like to be focused on. In fact, even though the debuffing on Cold is insane I have moved on to Blasting, working with Cold and Dark right now. I prefer DPS to just about anything else.
  23. I am thinking pretty seriously about running a Vampire Blaster. To me this means Dark Blast. i love Dark Powers, not in love with PB T9 but I am at least getting comfortable with the tactic. What secondary pairs well with Dark? Important Info: I take no melee attacks, just not my style. Darkness Manipulation is natural, but I look at the targeted sustain versus something like cold or temporals "it's just on" and am like....hmmmm. Soul Drain is nice...but it is a 2.37 second animation and you are trying to be at PB range...? 10 radius... I like Mental Manipulation. Adding another cone and a PBAoE attack is nice. Exotic damage type, nice. Clunky PBAoE sustain, at least the animation is only 1.33 sec Temporal Manipulation. Modern set. No need to be at Point Blank Range. has a ST hold, a great sustain, +global recharge power. The automatic transmission in the choices. Since I am running a toon for style it is hard for me to consider certain sets. Tactical Arrow may be off the hook but is tough for me to fit into my style. Honestly I would not consider Darkness Manipulation except I really want it to work. Like, is there a way to make that set compete with the ease of Temporal Manipulation? Maybe set bonuses and slotting will be the key. Certain sets look great and then you get into MiDs and cannot quite cram the build goals on because the powers are not 'right' Oh, so, build goals. i tend to go for high ranged defense and take a swing at AoE and maybe S/L defense (usaally does not happen) The sets I like tend to have a ton of energy/neg defense though. I like a lot of to hit bonuses and high global recharge as well. I am thinking Soul Mastery for the Epic Patron Pool. It seems the only thematic choice and I am one of the rare birds who loves cones. I have a Dark/Mental/Soul that I have run to about 45 and like. Definitely a contender. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks
  24. i 50d a crab when they first came out. i like them, not love. i ran one on Homecoming and incarnated it. weirdest bug. the backpack started showing up on new and old characters, and could not be gotten rid of. solution, delete crab spider. it is a great suggestion, and tempting even, but i am not going to face that bug again, no way.
  25. When I solo "All Redside" I make a list of every contact in every level range. On lined paper. i am old. I then do all content for contacts in 1-5 level range. I stop experience so I do not out level the contacts. Once I have exhausted all these contacts I turn experience back on and continue to level 9. repeat. When i say "do all content" I am not just talking about the story arcs. I do every side mission until the contact absolutely will have nothing left to offer me. Obviously if the contact has infinite repeatable missions I move on. I think the only one Redside that does this is actually in the RWZ, not Redside itself. I have always done this on a Brute. Many times on both SS/Invul and SS/Will. Last time i ran started in mid Oct on a Dark/Dark. (Currently my main) I have always ran these at +0/x1 with AVs set to EBs. I am currently toying with the Blaster idea but setting to -1/x1, AVs set to EBs. I want to explore the story and have fun. Redside is not as hairy as Goldside but it is no walk in the park once you start encountering exotic mobs. Don't even get me started on endless LB. The Bank Missions alone will be a challenge if you dont kill fast, super fast on a Blaster. Since I am a Brute player by nature I am basically taking another opportunity to examine Blaster tactics.
