Dealing with intangibility powers from enemy.
Snarky replied to Jaegernault's topic in General Discussion
Yeah most of us did the Q this week. I hit it Sunday midmorning. I think we finished midnight. No not really it was 3.5 hours though. We killed a lot we didnt need to but it was pretty chill. I was on my main SS/Invul Brute. We TPd to nearly every door but man did we grind. I got over two vet levels from it lol. Someone else who wasnt quite 50 yet got 5.5 and at least one person 50d but to the topic. Yep i got zapped a couple times too. But on a SS you learn to be regularly somewhat useless. Take the time to combine inspirations check the map look at the time drink coffee wonder what design to put on crypt. The big questions. Oh wait we are fighting again! i think break frees work? Never had one to try and it wasnt a big deal to me. They were just slightly postponing their doom. The lowest my health got was 70%. I hit my invul dull pain once More out if boredom than need i will not be doing that task force many more times in my life. Unless they triple the rewards- 3 replies

Be the Backpack! So i have not run a SoA since they first came out and everyone 50d one or two. Last few days the backpack fever hit quick leveled one to 29 and then ran a Citadel. Thus will be a good alt for me for weekly TFs the build i am going for is the one i enjoy the most. I know from reading all the posts that Crabbermind is the Win. Not my thing i will be building with all backpack powers except the ST melee strike. I Brute a lot and i like trashing something with the wicked claw arms when it gets in close i will be taking almost all soldier and crab powers. There us not much in the build left for anything else i will not be taking patron pools to get pets or even the fighting pool i would love some advice on building this odd duck. What are the sets that make the positional defenses work best while increasing resistance? what is the res cap? I will be taking the heal as well as the Omega and if course spiderlings. I an not pushing pets but that is just a one pick free damage rather than change whole build thanks

I read every bit of dialogue in the story boxes and try to read the npc chat as well. Being immersed in Redside is what it is about after all my character is a Zombie who woke up in a lab that was under attack. There were at least three major factions of combatants and he was laying in a hospital / experiment bed unbeknownst to him ( because part of his brain was fried due to drug use, part to ‘dying’ and part to the revivification process ) he was a family member of some heroes with magical powers. Rather than do any study he tried to obtain power through Excelsior and Superdyne Supplements sold to him by someone at “Supergym” ( registered trademark. ) It had a odd effect on someone from a magic bloodline. One of the effects was zombification the body was grabbed and right after he was jumpstarted by the lab techs is when all hell broke lose in the lab. He escaped through a random portal someone opened during the fight and ended up in the Shivan fight timestream at Galaxy city. Afterwards he met Kalinda and Burke. What they told him has remained his factual basis ever since. On Burkes advice he went Rogue but continues to wear an Arachnos cape i am probably digressing lol. Snarkrot tanks everything. He is an invulnerable tank i/o’d to tank more than damage. I keep the slider at +0/x1 and he usually kills what he needs to and ignores everything else. He will walk through most stuff. Not run or fly because caves and most buildings make him grumpy He will ignore 20 longbow attacking him. Then when he gets to the glowy he will either pop a purple and just grab it or use Duplicity and set the Longbow on each other Snarkrot views himself as a mercenary. He is curious about the many crazy contacts he has worked for Some irritate him but most amuse him. But he just wants to het the job done. He knows there is great power out there and he is exploring how to get and keep it. He is smart. Not doctor smart but pretty clever. so yes very interested in the story. The combat? To quote Hyperstrike “if you want to be a God run a tank”. Snarkrot uses Dark Melee to destroy anything he needs to. Not much puts a dent in his health. The combat just immerses more into Snarkrot’s world of being an all powerful zombie tank merc who is making contacts and getting jobs done

So continuing with my solo every story arc and side mission from every contact Redside. Does not include praetorian wards. Does include Blueside TFs and Badges. Rogue Tank Invul/Dark just complete 25-29 content 395 badges, 66 Souvenirs, 1077 reward merits. Saving those There is good content in the 25-29 range. Nothing super grindy or oddball. Like the newer contacts. They fit in well with the originals cranked exp on got 2x boost and found an AE farm. When i popped 34 i exited, tipped the farmer (nothing was requested up front, just being polite) and started Psimon Omega. i was looking forward to Midnight Grasp at 32. But thats because i ran Brutes for years. Ended up just throwing in maneuvers which is not even in my final build. Heavily I/Od already but i do tank on TFs and teams so being rock solid is important. Plus i just wander through a lot of missions ignoring all mobs and clicking glowies. No stealth required. 50 seems so close and yet so far. Got really distracted last couple weeks by alts. So many good options.

Oooh. Tai chi. Thanks for the heads up. Want to avoid that for the rest of my life. Can we get alternate animations that arent based in the worst martial art in history?

Charging for Powerlevelling to level 50
Snarky replied to Queen Nefertiti's topic in General Discussion
I do agree with this but only from a PR perspective. PLing at that cost is really free or below cost. But on Everlasting it is a real community vibe where cash is not king. RO costumes and teaming are king. New people will not understand the economy be able to afford it or realize how below cost it is. So in that manner it is a very bad thing. Even though in reality (at that cost) you are really making money paying for that and get a 59 to boot. But only if you already know the deal -
I made the weirdest toon i could to make it so the stupidest animations fit if i could have my wish? Please please please import basic energy blast animations as an option. Just stand straight and project force with left arm out then right arm out then both arms out. Who the F came up with the windmill on the last melee power? Look with super strength you do a wind up and a punch with KO blow. With kinetic melee you gesticulate madly and then sort of motion in the direction you are attacking. Really? Seriously? Someone thought this was a good enough idea to pit all that effort into it? Or did they just import it from somewhere else and slap a done sticker on it? Either way no thanks simple direct forceful looking poses that show you are projecting energy like a hero or vilkain. Not a interpretive dancer on meth in the street directing traffic

Charging for Powerlevelling to level 50
Snarky replied to Queen Nefertiti's topic in General Discussion
Bwah hah hah. Evil laugh required first. It is a bargain price. Farmers will lose more than that hauling someones butt to 50 then they make with the payment. Then there is the matter of focus. That is a lot of runs in one sitting. Who takes industrial grade ritalin? second. Its up to all consenting parties third. I do not recommend it. But i like doing low level gaming. Some hate it my Preferred method (if it was perfect) would be 4 DFB for bonuses. One PI run (or farm run) to 20 or so. Both Posi 1and 2. One PI to 25. 4 DiB then Synapse. From then on basically leveling up to 5 above TF available and doing TFs for me this accomplishes a number of great purposes. 1) i am playing the alt that fascinated me enough to spend 30 min creating. 2) i am learning the power sets and possibly archetype i rolled. 3) i am earning Merits for funding alts this method is my own odd version. Everybody has a preference. Many times i will modify this to what is available. But that would be my mic drop perfect run to 50 i remember on Virtue i got a chat ban on my birthday for advertising asking for farming to 50. I was paying serious cash. But it offended enough people i got reported and chat banned. Made level 35 in a few hours back when that was hard. Never Played the toon again i was irritated lol let peeps do w/e. i did get kicked off a AE team a couple days ago. 1st kevel Dom. Was doorsitting. Got kicked for not helping. I was like... if you need the help of my toon may the AE lords bless you. You need all the help you can vet -
One of my issues is i don’t start my own Task Forces. I keep an eye on channels about half time looking for something to join this does make me available for helping teams that would otherwise maybe be short. I am a sucker for something like “Redside DFB doing a badge run needs 4”. I have been known to bring in a heavy to fill out those teams it also puts me at the whim of whoever is running a TF lol

Okay. I love Brutes. My main is a Brute. I ran redside almost always for Bruting until Going Rogue and i could Brute Blueside i dislike weapons. Between redraw, super-theme, various powerset oddities etc i just dislike weapons sooooo i spend a LOT of time with Super Strength and Dark Melee. Good thing i like them. i have tried liking Kinetic Melee. It is very comic book. It has no redraw. It has some AoE. It has a funky mechanic that requires no conscious application. I love funky mechanics that require no conscious application. So...why have i never 50d one? last night i really dialed it in. I freaking hate the graphics animations. They are bad at the beginning and the tier nine is “helicopter stupid” reminds me of the scene from breaking bad. anyways i figure it out. The sound effects are very thunky satisying. The animation is somewhere berween “be as stupid as possible interpretive dance for beginners” and really bad kung fu moves that serve no useful purpose besides stretching and soooo. I took the weirdest character i have figured out how to spit out of the character generator that i like And i slapped Kinetic Melee Invulnerable Brute on that ran 4 DFBs and a bit of PI farm last night. Level 20. Surprise ....I like it. The funky character doing weird stuff is something my mind expects i guess. It drops down to background. I hear the thinks in my headphones and focus on managing the combat and killing stuff wish me luck. I really want another set to 50. I just have to see how/if helicopter madness is going to affect my Bruting flow

Thank you for the builds. This helps a lot. Wasn’t mind/fire one of the premier doms back in the day top damage dealer?
-
The golden rule in game is Def > Res < Heal. So softcapping 1 Def is golden. S/L for most melee since most of the attacks they face have a S/L component. Even if it is a huge fire attack there can be a tiny lethal side effect and therefore drops into the S/L bucket. Fire farmers only face fire attacks so they only need to defend and resist vs Fire. Blasters and squishies tend to get high ranged defenses because as ling as they are 8 feet away they are ranged. If you want to ‘layer defenses’ you want to look at the premier example. invul armor. It has high resists, some defense, resistance to debuffs if its defenses and a heal. So you softcap an invul to S/L defense, pump up the resist numbers and polish the heal a bit and you have all three legs of the stool going. Done right the things are unkillable outside a Hami raid or incarnate patches of death Invul armor is not sexy. Most people want a damage aura or to run a squishy or something besides SuperBrute. But it is a good look at how it can be done correctly. then as you choose what you are building (Iceman42?!?) you say well i got no resists but i have defense and can work on heal i/o and Procs and solid those up with I/Os so that you can deal with stuff that breaks past the RNG.
-
It is perfect the way it is. In my opinion. My evidence? The squishies have developed a thousand work arounds (and yes they do work at getting around it) and are run by some of the best players in the game Not to say the class i gravitate to ( Brutes) is not filled with great strategists and tacticians... just saying those who play the classes with tons of game altering control and damage that drops heavies in no time seem to earn their stripes and get through it Not saying they dont struggle sometimes. But if it was easy no one would run anything else.

I have a build in theory set up. It has 93% global rech 6 force feedback procs hasten and 38% ranged def. to me it looks forced and i still did not permadom according to my thinking. Purole sets everywhere

Next up valentines event. And i am rediscovering an old love: Grav/Energy Dominator!!! I had one of these perma-dom back on live before the Dom changes. It was no a cheap build back then and i ended up shattering and scavenging the pieces after a few months i ran through what feels like a hundred squishies as i have been alting in Homecoming. I even rolled one of these for a hot minute back in November i think. But i was running about every Sentinel combo and it got lost in the noise i have been running Brutes and Tanks as usual for most of my content. But once in a while rolling a squishy alt. And i have been learning Last night i rolled a new Grav/Energy Dom. One person complimented me on the costume and another on my backstory. Both uncommon occurrences for me. Okay thats a good sign lol i roll a couple DFB then into a PI team until 18. Then drop into a Posi 1. I like to run my alts through the TFs mostly in order. It helps me understand the build and earns merits it was not a super fast TF. We finished in like 53 minutes. We split up at least once which slowed us down. We killed a lot more than we needed to almost scrubbing the floors in at least two missions that probably didnt need it. But i was starting to get a feel for how useful a Grav Dom is. I had my AoE hold when i started and got to add a couple hold SOs to it before the final mission. It was not up very often so i had to save it for what i knew were the toughest fights. Likewise with Dom i knew i was in the happy zone during the last mission. I was immobilizing groups as we mowed them down and pew-pewing like mad. We hit the city hall steps and i hit Dom and held the first wave. There were craptons of course but we held the door and did not struggle. The two groups inside i could only immobilize but that seemed to help a lot then we walked over to the shadow fight. Dom was back up. As was my AoE hold. I had one sm yellow and three small reds. I looked at the teams health and energy bars. It was time. I ate the candies popped Dom. Hit power up and kept walking. I AoE held the entire group as soon as i was in range. Then we just burnt them down. They never moved. Oh yeah. That was nice. The team seemed a little in shock. There were some confused yet happy statements “that was really easy!?!” i am going to Perma Dom the thing and work on getting as much ranged defense as possible. I have learned a lot about ranged being 8+ feet and using that to great advantage. I look forward to having the oddball tools in my bag that Grav offers and seeing the changes they made in the powers. They seem way more useful then back on live and of course still working my regular projects like tanking all redside. (Just finishing up 25-29 content this week) nice to rediscover this old friend. all prettied up with new costume parts and power revamped. Oh and me being a more proficient player doesnt hurt either

*looks around. *picks up really big rock... So, they are going to get us all our okd characters and builds back? -
I was buying (and still have on my omdest toons) the base to power from p2w. It was rhe bomb on live when i got that vet power. I was showing up nearly first on every TF door with inspirations to boot! But yeah the /macro shaves a minute off that time. First no animation and then i just run through the base since its not mine and just one room. I am still in the middle of the pack of folks arriving. These people are getting around lightning fast now

Hey folks. I am back on trying my squishy projects. And back on a Grav/Energy Dom. Really enjoy this last night got compliments separately on costume and backstory. My ego is easy to prop up so i will prob run this a few days lol a yways i posted a thread a month or two ago asking for a build. It turned into sort of an odd challenge discussion. Not really interested. I know what i want i have not built a Permadom since live. Many things have changed and thise files are long gone can one or two of you post builds that have Permadom and high ranged defense so i can get an idea what sets i am looking for? Doesnt have to be grav/nrg also can i get a Permadom rech formula? Global+hasten. Memory banks. Can we get those implanted yet thanks

Another Hollows team takes down FrostFire
Snarky replied to DougGraves's topic in General Discussion
I tried (again and quit as usual) to solo Bliueside all stories on a Brute. At no changes in difficulty Frostfire was the first challenge the game really threw at me. I think (was months ago now) if i remember i did not have mez prot and forgot to bring any because had needed zero so far. Forgot he did that. A Brute can beat down anything in game at its own level. But at low level before mez prot you can be in the crapper -
This discussion. In all it’s linguistic accuracy, in game and in world history, creative twists, and general fun tossing around of the concept you guys make me happy to be in the best world. Homecoming

Another Hollows team takes down FrostFire
Snarky replied to DougGraves's topic in General Discussion
One if the only arcs i enjoy Blueside. Tightly written dramatic and challenging -
I started an Ice/Ice Dom last night and this might be my “unicorn” squishy i have been searching for for years. I will be trying to Permadom it and softcap ranged defense. What makes it different is i have evolved in my thinking. Ranged is 8 feet. Not 30 or 60. My head explodes. The fat AoE toggle and big powers aimed at screwing with enemies all around you is excellent. You can be a kung fu master dodger if everyone is moving at 1 foot a minute. Someone gets superclose. ST hold so i will be puttering around with this over the next week or two and seeing if i like it in TFs. I have not 50d a Dom since back on live. Most of my squishies on Homecoming have been Blasters or Sentinels. again it is my thinking that has changed. The Ice Dom is a powerful addition to a team that does not wipe a spawn with their Alpha. Anything not completely locked down is falling over and/or doing nothing fast. That is a ton of power in one little squishy

Do the admins/devs also seed "in need" enhancements?
Snarky replied to kelika2's topic in General Discussion
Two words. Enhancement converters. Are there enhancements available in the ‘type’ that you need? Regular, purple, pvp? Then buy anything in the right category. And convert. No need to seed i see an enhancer i want selling in a set. Say Brute ATO. Making numbers up here but roughly iff memory. Needed one of each. Got 3 at 7-8 mil. Then nothing. Hmmm. Then i realize there is zero or one available. One has 5 avail but are selling at 12-15 mil. NO. I go back to the ones i bought. One has 15 for sale. I but 3 of those at 7-9 mil and convert. Bam similar when selling. I buy cheap yellow recipes and craft convert sell. Generally shooting for a sale price of 4 mil or more a pop. And that keeps the alt mad populace in procs. And the resources used are useles. Yellow recipes and converters i earned through TF. no need to seed on a busy server
