I have been soloing redside every story arc on a dark/dark. I have also ran one fully incarnated. (if you want to see this build in action I can show you in any AE +4/x8) Excelsior, @Snarky. Just ask. I built for recharge more. Although this is my incarnate old build. I will be tweaking it for the one I am doing storylines on. Same build goals, just going to tighten up the slack. The concept behind a high recharge dark/dark is that it brings up Soul Drain, Dark Regeneration, and Dark Consumption amazingly fast. Def > Res > Heal. But Dark Regen is one of the best heals in the game. Having it on a 6 second cycle is insanely powerful. Also, Dark/Dark doesn't have the greatest AoE. Wait. Wait a minute! Everything I just mentioned are AoE, right? A high recharge Dark/Dark uses its buffs as a ghetto AoE chain! That is why it farms well. Not the fastest, but this beast can run incarnate trials and step into ANY farm and do well. Basically, I looked at Dark/Dark and said "I want it all, and more of it please" then i built for that. The army of toggles actually does a tremendous amount of work. Cloak of Fear and Oppressive gloom provide enough damage mitigation for another Dark Regen to pop up 99.9% time. Cloak of Darkness will let you waltz past anything not on your to-do list, just stay 8-10 feet away. Except f-ing rikti drones. Anyways, here is the current incarnation. My story toon has hit GV and will be a slightly different variation of this build, adding Touch of Fear and I am using Sorcery fly for him because he is doing storylines. semi stealth plus flight/teleport rocks for that. CoT caves I mostly just port thru passageways to glowies. On a Brute lol. I am on a pretty serious non-alt streak. I have run one character (mostly) since late Oct. I did stop to quickly 50 an alt, and have made 1-2 and zoned in then left. I have re-configured this main's costume a dozen times and recently rewrote the whole backstory. Does that count?

can we customize them? because if i could make a crew with silly matching outfits like the crews from batman, mystery men, or venture brothers i would run them in a heartbeat. right now the only mastermind i can conceive of using them is a caricature of the mascot from "The General" insurance co -
welcome to Homecoming. It has literally all the best gamers and very few of the worst. (I may be in the 2nd category, time will tell) seriously though this is the most hardcore and helpful crew of mmorpg geeks you will find.

i had no idea, and since i just started maining a dark as a badger i am running to p2w right now lol

energy is dominant in incarnate. (this is not scientific, but there is a lot) psi is also used in late game. psi is hard to cover. i am running dark armor, a resist heavy set w/ a great heal. my current build i have tons of resists, but my energy is only 50%. i may tweak this but it prob will not go much higher. The thing with Dark is it has tons of mitigation as well as pure armor. -tohit debuff, a aoe confuse, an aoe fear, oh, and it is pure stealth unless you are in PBAoE of it. I pull what I want when I want. Except Ritki drones. grr. I mention all of Dark's oddness to point out that every set is built to be balanced in different ways. You need to learn the art of a set. No one set is the set. Although Invul comes close it has a Psi hole you can drive an imaginary tank through. Pick a theme and love it.
-
i was going to type this so i guess i will second it. although i saw someone write bio armor. rad is beautiful, bio armor is fugly. it sounds like you want fugly, so...

easy enough, level to 21 doing dfb, tfs in a day, lock in name for a year, park alt. some have even faster ways to 21. i like low level tfs and merits

i am excited about the EM changes. I leveled a 50 EM/Invul Brute a week or so ago in prep. Then went back to my dark/dark story arc toon. And havent went back. Dark got some twerks too. (yes, twerks) I love the concept of EM getting some love. I am not a fan of *gimmick, special mechanic sets. Having said that EM was pretty deflated and needed something. I really enjoy the current Dev teams tweaks and additions to the game. Personally, I will give them the benefit of the doubt. We really won't have a full understanding, as a community, for months of how good/bad the changes are. Sure, some uber farmers and mad mid scientists know right now. Then there is me. My 'research' is more process and less cut it open and see which organs changed in color. I do support nerfing Regen. It is just too strong on Tanks and Brutes with those big health bars.
-
I read a lot of Tank builders posts. To boil what I have learned down to a short response: The best Tank for difficult content tends to vary depending on what that content is. Invulnerability. One of my favorite Armors. Very good. I think everyone can agree. Has a Psi hole it is near stupid to try to patch, and you can fit a VW bug through it. Any serious content dishing out a ton of Psi attacks and this will be a second rank super. All the other Armor types have similar strengths and weaknesses. That seems to be part of the inherent design. Remember, drama drives story. With no drama there is no tension. An Armor type that provides ultimate protection against everything would reduce drama considerably. THe original Devs chose to honor storytelling and Comic Lore by making no one great at everything. Every Super has weaknesses. Except Spiderman. Odd, really.

Firstly let me thank the Homecoming team for a wonderful i27. Thank you so much. I am pretty Snarky yet I find everything about the update quite enjoyable. Circling to the topic at hand. I just played the Doc Buzzsaw Arc on my Redside toon. That was good. Specifically enjoyed the writing and how it beautifully meshed with cannon and even progressed the storyline of Vahz and Freaks. I wonder if someone was reading some of my characters backstories. Quite a few of mine are detailed variations of a low level Paragon citizen who uses Excelsior and the other mythic substances of the city to become first a bodybuilder, then a failed experiment, then an undead failed experiment. Then a Super. The details vary, but you get the picture. Okay, really circling in now. No legs!!! The Freaklok with no legs! Loved it. talk about less being more. Is there any way the team could have options for no legs in the costume creator? You could put in 3-10 variations on the bottom. From the strage metal the freak had, to ghostly wispy aura trailing for magic. Maybe a steam powered looking version. A high tech shiny glowy part one. Even with zero animation on any of them the options would give a lot of creative space. Again, great job. Thank you.

I am currently running a redside story arc toon that is a Dark/Dark Brute, Today I finished 25-29 content and leveled to 34 to do 30-34 content. I respec'd at 34 and added in Touch of fear. Short on enhancer slots, of course, so it got 1 accuracy. ToF has a high base accuracy to begin with. This is a solid little power. It thickens the tangle of Dark/Dark continuous screwing with its opponents. I run all Dark Toggles all the time. I find the dominator tactics very useful. What would probably kill me is slowed down just enough through various mechanics so that I can fire another Dark Regen and be back at 100%, no matter how questionable a strategy I chose for attacking a room. Having a solid highly accurate fear attack is very nice. On certain mobs that I cannot kill on one hit (DM has one super hard hitting ST and it is not always up) I can get the mob to at least cower for a few secs while my to-hit debuffs and DoTs soften it up. Now to just learn how big a boss that will work on reliably so as to use it at maximum effective. Pretty sure thats going to be Fear Lt and smack Boss. We will see. Mids does not have an update fort i27 yet. Not an emergency but when I finally 50 this project I will need a working plan. My old Dark/Dark Incarnate I have shelved. Will prob strip it for the purples and such once am done slow levelling this one. I can easily drop the self rez and pick up ToF. But should I rethink slotting or leave ToF as a one slot....? Oh, last thought, I fast levelled the original. Now that I am stuck at 34 sucking wind on End those toggles, while useful, are painful to keep up lol. Cannot wait to get to 50 and get this thing moving at warp speed again. So.... Ain;t no doubt this was improved. How/Why to cram it into a build. I run Dark/Dark with Cloak of Fear constant. Does the Fear stack and is it useful? How much damage does the power really do? How effective is the AoE? Does the fear Aoe of just primary target?

i will try this it makes sense thanks although in the itf i tend to kill the surgeons and engineers. by how they look and how they hide. i am a truffle hunter with surgeons

i truly suck at macros and keybinds beyond the most basic. so i abandoned loc aoe powersets for instance i never figured how to use the target locator for specific mobs. but i spent years in game and know their patterns and spawning areas. i don't know why i do things the way i do.

+it is the day you take a frozen turkey, and a tubular deep fat fryer, combining them to create a makeshift pyrotechnic device. then you see if you have food for friends or a need to call the fire brigade and let people work on badges.

I think I will not be the last vote for finishing out the Incarnate system plan. The promise of MOAH POWAH was right there lol. Sideways to the Incarnate system I would love if there was a way at End Game to earn a few extra enhancer slots (even one or two) after a LOT of work. Accolade style, but way harder. Similarly adding a Travel power set at 50-incarnate on top of existing, or more specific extra travel powers in a set you already have 1-2 powers in. These are my big wishes for extreme late game madness

lol...it never ends

i run Dark Armor with all toggles constant, including stealth and fear. but i run it with dark melee. i throw high recharge on the build. its just beautiful to grind into mobs with
