It us not that long, wall of words or no. Retoggling everything eats up most of it. If on a team, the team lost your agro mgt and dps, then the stun fills that void making you still useful, even while you stand there and endlessly pull your pants back on. -

you have obviously never had to retoggle all the dark armor, powers, leadership buffs, travel power, and anything else you have collected back on. in short, ya don't run dark armor. because that takes up a LOT of that "oh, sooooo much time...." -

poke around these forums and you will see tales of soloing GMs, ridiculously low Pylon times, speed runs through content that appear to be my loading screen times and travel between missions, but are complete TF/SF/Trial complete times. I have seen people get Sally off track and had her up on land for a half hour. People crawl through holes in the architecture. TP to fellow teammates in a map without line of sight, and about 2 dozen things nobody publishes because they do not want YOU to know... indeed, how do they do the impossible? -

If you did this, i can GAURANTEE our community would learn how to farm it. Then the nerf/new farm/nerf war would rage. Because, you propose greatly increased rewards. You may not realize how calculating some of our players are at time/reward math. Nor how creative they are at doing "the impossible" no, this is a bad bad idea. There used to be PvP base raids on live. Until the crew learned there was a logic gap where you could get a new toon to 50 with almost no effort due to a reward offered. -
It is a dragster. It just goes fast as hell and wants to keep going forward. Glad you are having fun

On my current project to solo every contact red/blue/gold i have collected untold numbers of temps. I kind of wish i could organize them. Because yes, i do “hoard them”. This is not unusual for me. It does get extreme on this type of project though. I do use rechargeable P2W temps. The only time i have used temps like this are in very rare fights when we small teaming a Khan (or was it a cuda?) and the army of pets i could summon made a real difference. I have tried this on a LRSF and usually the heroes just obliterated the pets. I used to hoard inspirations and my biggest powers when i started the game years ago. I am better about understanding where/when to use them now. Most of the temps are kind of useless. The pets can (sometimes) help.

Is the game harder to learn today than back on live?

Ah. We have different priorities. I view “ get help” as a weak joke. I view “free 17 people” when it is a kill all as hatred of my existence as a player -

I am currently soloing every contact in the game, for every single mission. Red Blue Gold. Not my first time at it, so far my most "complete" at what I guestimate is a 99.9% completion of every possible mission 1-29. Now working on 30-34. Blue missions are especially tough. They obscure the true mission goals as part of the way they were written. Save 17 "hostages" (this is real) you stealth through and find them all. On rescuing the last one, the goal changes to "kill all..." Blueside was written to be near indecipherable. Part of the "charm" If, and that is a big if, you change that you will find a vocal sub group who will tell you that you ruined it. I have no idea why, but I guarantee it will happen. Red is more straightforward. Then Gold.... has evolving missions. And it's own set of issues. But beyond the theme of each side, is the scope. Just running those missions is taking forever. Going through each one line by line and editing it.... Do you know how hard editing is, and how much good editors get paid? I am not talking coding. I am talking about communicating. It is hard, and it costs a lot. Find the qualified volunteers for the hundreds and/or thousands of hours this will take. HC staff might take you up on the offer. -

This is a serious question about intangibility powers used on enemies. The reason for this question now is it looks like Dark Miasma will get a update from “you are intangible” to …. A weak fold space? Mixed with an intangible for EBs and certain others that resist the 1st effect. That is my best understanding. Not even trying for sarcasm. (I was going to add something here, but.. I won’t) Now I have never taken intangible powers. For all the reasons some of you will quickly name. I have it on my 34 Corruptor with 1 SO Accuracy in the default slot. I use it (less than mark and recall by far) on missions solo. It is useful to hit a group crowding a glowie. Unfortunately the way blue side is written 25% time after getting all glowies the mission turns into a kill all… Please tell me your thoughts on Intangible powers. Are they useful? Can they be useful? Is this strange hybrid going to be useful? Will it get me black listing on teams leagues? (And i need NO further help in this endeavor…)

No. I really “left” Brutes a couple years ago. I hardly ever play them now. Nor do i play melee at all. The changes were irritating. Being second DPS to Tanks?…. But I started running a ton of incarnate challenges, and moved over to Blasters. I also tried WoW again during that time. Still not my fav. Now I am on a Dark Dark Corruptor. It does what I like. It is useful in high end content. I still have a number of Brutes parked with all the bling. But,…. Not sure i will ever go back. Pretty sure not.

Is the game harder to learn today than back on live?

As you have pointed out this mid-messaging is all through the game. The DNA of the game was for the mechanics to be hidden from players. trying to change all of that would be a gargantuan task. -
I have been known to make less than favorable comments. and I have a few here... but you asked, so i answer: What in your opinion makes this game great to play with a completely new team of volunteer, unpaid devs? These Devs honestly care about the game. They see value in being here and fight a daily battle to provide a place for us (many ungrateful 🙂 ) geeks and freeks to be. What works amazingly well, why is this game's management so well respected? Two questions slammed into one, awkwardly. But I am not here to criticize. much. The team inherited (thats what a redsider would call that, nudge nudge) a strangely powerful game. It provides a canvas where we can write our own characters and interact mostly on our terms. The new management is respected for the suaveness in pulling off that inheritance, and their devotion to not screwing it up, maintaining it, and trying to make it better. What keeps you coming back day after day to punch bad guys in the face? I have made friends here. I find a place in game to do my thing, and in the forums to be my stream of consciousness self. A place to relax. or grind. Lately I have been gaming with Justice SuperTeamers on Excelsior. I played WoW after the shutdown. But there I am running standard undead face 7 with powersets 2YS, and that is not optimal. Solo or get crap runs. Enjoy.... Here I can take the crappiest toon or build and join a pug ITF and have a ball. And then rroll and do it all over, because that played like crap lol. It is the daily grind. And I am indeed grateful and thankful. Now... because I can't help myself. Can we pleae get rid of the intangible in Black Hole? It is a deal killer, you cant take it on a team, it will get you kicked. *cough. Okay better. Thanks!

I never put my incarnates in the build. If that us in there it is random. Without opening game (i am working) i can tell you that Alpha was max DPS +45% damage. Because…. Damage. MiDs is screwy, and i rarely touch the incarnate in there except when fine tuning an armor set.

i regularly charge out ahead of the team on 4/8 with a fire/fire/fire fresh spawns waiting to be melted!

Focused Feedback: Powerset - Dark Miasma
Snarky replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
So I join a LRSF. We load in, knock out the two towers, the flyers, and head in to Fight Crimson. I drop Black Hole to gather up the Longbow into my Tar Patch and the team Nukes and Judgements and.... a number of very angry Ballista (who have taken no damage, nor suffered any effects from any of our best and biggest powers) look at the team. Do I get the merits and Hami from the GMs after I have been kicked off the team? Or is that just the joy of playing Dark? -
very true, but in tough fights i find the key powers recharge times to be very telling on my ability to contribute to a win.

and, inevitably, i am of a different opinion. measure once, cut twice. or... something like that. let's take the Tank modifications. and these still sting, (the years old ones) as it is one of the reasons i stopped running Brutes. That and Cosmic Council's really hard way. A really hard way to learn Dark Dark Brutes do not belong in much incarnate content lol. Yet, I am glad HC staff did it, and i wish them the best for the second cut. The HC staff has limited time, finite amounts of energy to create, modify, and publish. As a player base we need to accept this. because reality is just right there. Take the new modification to Black Hole. I do not agree with the changes. I think they are missing an opportunity to make the power relevant, and useful. I do not understand all of it. I wonder if the Devs do? Because, while i am crazy, i am not dumb. I have studied Calculus through muti-var, play chess at a respectable club level, and am studying German. which seems harder than calculus. well, until you get to vector analysis. yet the changes they are making, due to the complexities of the game/code/pre existing scenarios, have a lot of possibilities. then there is how we, a player base, will then use, abuse, ignore the new shiny. i tried to draw out at least one person in discussion on what they were talking about ( had no real examples) and was told that was arguing. so, ... i left the topic, but do the Devs know what they are creating? i think not. not until it experiences the cold hard surfaces of live CoH ROFLSTOMP teams and sneaky solo GM killers. publish it. maybe i will like Black Hole better on the second cut in a year or three. maybe not.

it was made up as a term by a guy with his head up his butt as a mcguffin. in reality he did not want anything to change, or not very much. and he wanted no input on anything from the community. so he just promoted cottage rule propaganda. he was much loved

save the costume and create a new toon with that name on the contest server orrrrr.... rename your "favorite name" to a placeholder character and transfer the character to contest server. after contest transfer back and reverse rename Snarky has been on a dozen toons on Excelsior, and is on my current project that is soloing every contact in the game. only level 34, but over a thousand badges
