  1. So, as one does, I was looking at my badges in progress and realized my "Take X points of damage to earn this badge" weren't progressing because my SR tank is so deft at dodging. This was during the 15-minute ambush part of the last Croatoa mission to unlock Katie, and to let the time pass I just rested and let the Cap stab me for 15 minutes. I figured there had to be a faster way to rack up damage and experimented resting next to various foes, and settled on two +2 Council Force machine gunners. They seem to have only two attacks: the long burst and a punch. With two of them, their punches take me to about half health, and then my health completely heals back during the machine gun burst. Each round of attacks does ~1,200 damage. Any other favorite tactics for racking up the damage received? Aside from playing the game, of course. 😅
  2. Plus you can make the colors match or contrast as desired!
  3. I had the great fun and fortune of teaming with Camel on an ITF today and came back looking for this thread. Here's the build recreated in Mid's 3.1.2.5. It's a good build, he was gnarly and Smashing everything! I thought I was doing all right with a full Soul Drain-buffed SR/DM, but I'd have to punch things twice that he'd punch once. This Hero build was built using Mids Reborn 3.1.2.5 https://github.com/LoadedCamel/MidsReborn Click this DataLink to open the build! 4. Amen to that. I had an Ice/EA that was pretty fun, except when I was running Carnie arcs and kept getting slaughtered. I had to keep dropping the difficulty until it was just embarrassing and hard to keep fury against small spawns. So I switched back to Super Reflexes and punched every Carnie in the face and dodged all their PBAoE death end-drains.
  5. I guess it depends on how you do your attacks, but I just pull out 2 or 3 floating trays, set them to 3 bubbles wide, and then put the combos in order in the tray. Then if I want to do Attack Vitals I do that row, or the row for Sweep, etc. Piece of cake! That said, my current favorite Brute is Savage/Bio. No re-draw, all clickies, slashies, and slurpees! so fun.

  7. Did you see Infinitum's builds? He has loads of Invuln builds and a really good Fire/Psi. You can combine them into a monster build. Edited to say: I used to see an Invuln/Psi tank running around named something like "How Ironic" and the character description made fun of how Invuln has a psi hole, but the toon is psi melee. How ironic.
  8. Most people skip Elude and then complain that SR doesn't have endurance recovery. Elude gives a massive endurance recovery boost, soft-caps defense, and buffs your run speed and jump height. Getting toggle-dropped by a Sapper isn't a big deal for SR because Practiced Brawler is still active so you won't get mezzed/knocked back/etc, and you can still run around with your set bonuses active. Hit Elude, do a DOUBLE BACKFLIP then run around twice as fast as normal, punching everything you see, and recovering endurance as you go for the next 3 minutes. Just make sure you finish clearing the room or running away before the crash because it kills your blue bar and drops your toggles.
  9. More sweet builds here
  10. How about doing a tweak to the Halloween event so that all doors always have a chance to spawn some random mobs? Zones would spawn level-appropriate critters and be some additional XP on top of street sweeping. Plus it'd add a surprise when you go to the wrong door and would be way more fun than the default "You cannot enter" pop-up. It would be like every building is full of badguys in CoH and goodguys in CoV just waiting to attack when you inappropriately ring their doorbell. The spawn rate could be turned down if people want to avoid farming. And change the message to "Nobody is home" when nothing spawns.
  11. I upvote this over 9000. I often play with headphones and normally have the game volume set between 2% and 5%. And even then some of the max target hits are so loud I want to turn it down more. But recently I reinstalled the game on a new computer, logged in and started running around with the default volume and music settings... I was alone in my room, figured it didn't matter if it was a bit loud. I was AMAZED at all the ambient noises and sounds happening in the game! I've never heard them because I have to have the volume so low to make the loudest sounds bearable. Like, to @Solarverse's point I had to give up most of the game's sounds so I could hear the few that I had to hear. If I could turn off the decibel-exponential effect I'd be a happy camper. What I'd prefer is a sort of echo effect at the same volume. Like, if I skip a rock and it bounces 10 times, the skip SFX isn't 10 times as loud it just happens 10 times. If I drop 10 bricks it sound like 10 things hitting, not one 1,000 lb thing hitting. I'd like it if Footstomp hits 10 critters it makes 10 quick PFLOMPs instead of one super duper loud KBASH! So yeah, I'd love a client-side option to disable SFX quantity stacking so I could turn back on all the other SFX I'm missing.
  12. I re-rolled my Savage/Bio Scrapper as a Brute to get more HP in the heals and regen and it's doing great. Seems to be on par with damage (running in Offensive mode I'm almost always showing ~270% damage buff). The only other Brute I've been able to stick with is Super Strength/Electric. Everything else I've been happier with on Tanks or Scrappers. Edit: Correction, have a Staff/Invuln brute I'm really happy with. I hated Staff on Tanks and hated Invuln on Scrappers, but on a Brute it's a good combo.
  13. Transfusion is the heal; doesn't do anything for damage. Fulcrum Shift is what you want, it can do a +400% damage buff if the /Kin is close to the 10 targets and teammates. That's a fantastic bonus. Speed Boost buffs endurance recovery and 50% recharge buff, but not health. It does give some damage resistance though. Side note: Siphon Speed, Siphon Power, and Fulcrum Shift also debuff enemies. They get slowed and lower damage output, which may not be a huge difference on a farm but is still helpful.
  14. I've only played it on Test for a few hours, but I didn't like how Mass Levitate made it so when I had an enemy on auto-follow I spazzed out following it as it ragdolled. And it was more difficult to hit the levitating critters. I think it's a cool set though and looks neat-o when other people on the team are playing it. Once teamed with a Psi/Shield dude who Hovered everywhere and did amazing things.
  15. If you do Spines/Ice you get double damage auras and stacking slow effects. And you can make the Spines look like ice. My other favorite was Dark Melee / Ice. You can skip Dark Consumption because Energy Absorption is better: boosts your defense and recharges much quicker. Claws is just a good set overall if you like it.
  16. Does the Terrorize have to land a hit? It seems like my Super Reflexes toons are rarely terrorized. I stumbled on putting the +Perception proc in Focused Accuracy and after some playtime realized I wasn't getting blinded nearly as much, if ever. From that point on I was sold. Being blind and standing there stupidly while trying to inspcombine a yellow is really bad for DPS.
  17. I skipped a few pages so I'm catching up: Are we implementing defense to sweeping attacks? I haven't seen Sweeping as a typed defense, do the new enemies in Aeon's SF have Sweeping attacks? Just in case that wasn't clarified - in IO set types there's Melee AoE and Ranged AoE, but for defense the attacks are purely AoE. It'd be weird to remove typed defense. Then would the armors Willpower, Stone, Invulnerability, Ice, Energy and Bio just not have any defense? Very strange idea.
  18. Thinking it out, the continuously shooting a machine gun results in the barrel getting hotter and hotter. So add fire damage that stacks like Fury? Also your accuracy degrades so even single target attacks turn into cones.
  19. It's like being a ginger at the beach!
  20. Last night I was thinking I really wanted an Atomic Control powerset. Most powers are taken from the Blaster's Radiation Blast and Atomic Manipulation, with their values tweaked for Controllers. The set is like crossing Fire Control's damage aura and stun with Gravity's loads of ST attacks. This winds up with 3 ST attacks, some AoE, a damage aura, and some fun pets. Electron Shackles 1 Ranged, Moderate DoT(Energy), Foe Immobilize (From Atomic Manipulation) Positron Cell 1 Ranged, Moderate DoT(Energy), Foe Hold (From Atomic Manipulation) Shackle Field 2 Ranged (Targeted AoE), Minot DoT(Energy), Foe Immobilize (AoE version of ST immob) X-Ray Beam 6 Ranged, Moderate DMG(Energy), Foe -DEF (From Radiation Blast) Irradiate 8 Melee AoE, Minor DoT(Energy),-ACC, -Defense (From Radiation Blast) Irradiated Ground 12 Toggle, Melee AoE, Minor Damage (Energy), Foe Slow (Radiation Melee's damage aura) Cosmic Bursts 18 Targeted AoE, Minor Damage (Energy), Foe Disorient (From Radiation Blast converted to AoE stun) Positron Cells 26 Targeted AoE, Minor DoT(Energy), Foe Hold (AoE version of the ST hold) Atomic Allies 32 (Fire Imps but green with X-Ray beam, a melee attack, and tiny Irradiated Ground patches as they fart around the map)
  21. Yep with Bio you can prioritize sets in your attacks and armors, and do a bit of minimal slotting of uniques in Inexhaustible, Stamina, and Health. What really makes the difference is setting your stance to Efficient Mode, which really boosts your recovery. And using DNA Siphon in every spawn to top up health and recovery.
  22. Badass / Can Run Solo Without a Team: Dark Melee / Super Reflexes. All the self-buffs you need to run forever.
  23. Or triggering a bunch of binds and firing off some attacks, opening an Ouroboros portal, and munching a handful of inspirations... Honestly though, your reading of the text makes perfectly obvious sense when you don't know it actually means something else.
  24. Oh man that reminds me of a time way back in the beginning, I'm running around the Hollows on my lowbie. No idea how chat works. I get myself into a bad situation and one of those Healbots (the real heroes!) was flying around and kept me alive while I finished my hunt or whatever I was doing. They did a local chat telling me good luck, and I hit Enter, typed Thanks!, hit Enter, and the game yelled "You're not on my team!" I was mortified! I felt like such a jerk and had no idea why the game made me say they weren't on my team! Eventually I realized I was in Team chat and it had actually said "You're not on a team" and I was the only one who'd seen that. I've also activated Rest on accident and couldn't figure out why I couldn't do anything. To be fair, lots of games when you level up you automatically get new powers and stuff without having to go to a trainer. I don't remember if the tutorial tells you to talk to a trainer the first time you level up.
  25. Heck, if you weren't around back then you probably don't appreciate the concept of Taxi Bots in the Hollows, or wherever else they popped up! Oh boy they were the real heroes!
