  1. Thanks for the info. I went defender. I also just got the kb -> kd io from the summer Blockbuster for Gale. The rains are fun. Now I can use gale also
  2. So are you saying that Beam Rifle works pretty well on a Sentinel?
  3. Hey there Redlynne. I was reading on one of your builds that you slotted a power font proc in an aoe immobilize, and if i understood correctly you just spammed that for the procs. That might be an idea. But that would limit me to /storm. Some stuff to think about for sure.
  4. I love the Rain type attacks. I love AOE attacks that last for a while. I used to play a Matter Cabalist in DAOC back in the day that had AOE DOT's and Diseases. I think I'll end up going Corruptor because of Scourge, but I'm still willing to go Defender if there is a legitimate advantage in the end game. Right now I am tossing up between ICE/STORM or WATER/STORM. I'm really leaning towards ICE/STORM, but wanted some perspectives on people who have actually played these combo's or can at at least from their experience do some thought experiments. ICE: Ice Storm + Blizzard WATER: Whirlpool + Geyser - which is a semi-rain (I think) STORM: Freezing Rain + Tornado + Lightening Storm(pbaoe i think) Are there any combo's of rain primary/secondary that I'm missing? Do you have any general advice, or rambling thoughts? - edit - PS. not sure if it matters. But i plan to be grouping exclusively with this character.
  5. I tend towards water and ice. Both have a rain and Target AOE. On another notes this info may help. I need to look further into it each sets pluses and minuses regarding overall flavor Tier 9 Primary Ranged Nukes Archery Assault Rifle Beam Rifle Electrical Blast. (But Short Circuit is pbaoe) Ice Blast (has ice storm and blizzard range AOE ) Water Blast Primary PBAOE Nukes Dark Blast Dual Pistols Energy Blast Fire Blast (but has rain of fire) Psychic Blast Radiation Blast Sonic Attack
  6. Cool! PS. It looks like you need to do a find/replace on bind_load_file and change it to bind_load_file_silent or bindloadfilesilent The program uses the _ between words
  7. Thank you for asking this!! I was wondering the same thing
  8. Wonderful Guide. I see you have Radiation Armour listed as a NO-Crash armour T9. I don't know if it actually does or not, but the character creation screen leads me to believe that it does. I've never had a actual T9 armour set. so i don't know if it is a small crash or even a crash at all. 9. I'm using a non-set IO build using the skills SenkanYamato has laid out. so far i'm at level 40 and it has worked really well. I don't have the sets and my defences are still low. but its working good. Just hit 40 doing +2 x8. I have to use a build where i don't have to mini-watch everything. My ADD tends to kick in and my mind wonders when i'm farming.
  10. Cool o hope it works out. If you read reddit there is a city of heroes costume subreddit where you can post a picture
  11. hmm. necro/dark, necro/rad, necro/poison maybe. I would lean towards /rad myself. Maaaaybe Thugs acting as your Eidolons, if you push your imagination. you might also do some color custimaztion experiments in the character creator. so see what bloody red/blues you can come up with. Some times the visuals trump the skillset itself if you RP. cool theme for sure!! https://cityofheroes.fandom.com/wiki/Vahzilok Vahzilok official info ( Copied from the City of Heroes official website [1]): The sickening snick, snick, snick of a sharpening blade, the slick wet sounds of blood, and the heartrending cries of innocent victims can often be heard drifting from the back alleys, sewers, and darkened parks of Paragon City as the Vahzilok go about their deranged work. Guided by the depraved Dr. Vahzilok, this villainous group defiles the very laws of nature with their never ceasing desire for human flesh. The foot soldiers of this fetid force are the Cadavers, zombie-like animated flesh made from stitched together human corpses and robotic parts. Built from the remains of fallen heroes, the unthinking Abominations are much stronger and more resilient than the Cadavers. These mindless minions act as dispensable guards for Dr. Vahzilok's many research laboratories and hideouts. Certainly, few things are more chilling than coming face to face with stumbling zombies vomiting toxic bile - deadly modern day revenants that have no soul, no mind, no goal other than to kill and kill yet again. Wielding blood stained bone saws and rusty crossbows, Reapers and Mortificators are the only truly living of Vahzilok's minions, willing assistants trained in the surgical arts of amputation and organ removal. Seeking raw materials for Dr. Vahzilok's experiments, these savage mortals can be found wherever there might be bodies to scavenge. The pinnacle of Dr. Vahzilok's retinue is the Eidolon, an animated corpse that has been "perfected" according to the mad doctor. Given only the prime hero body parts and best medical treatments, these creatures are much more than simple zombies. Walking the line between living and dead, not all of these powerful beings are fully “resurrected”. In fact, for some, becoming an Eidolon was a voluntary decision. So close in appearance to the living, Eidolons are sometimes able to pass as human. However, made up of multiple body parts, these creatures are ever changing amalgams, devoid of any hint of their original identity. While these are the most evolved of Vahzilok's creatures, often gaining minor super powers from their hero components, Eidolons require intensive upkeep including regular replacements for their constantly decaying skin and organs.
  12. I tested a fully upgraded howler wolf (so no lick wounds) against a training dummy on the test server a couple weeks ago. The combat log is in another thread. There are several periods of time where the wolf is literally doing nothing. Like a 3-5 second window where it's not attacking, no casting a buff/debuff, etc. Their bite attack has, it says, a 3s cooldown, so there should never be a dead-spot that lasts more than 3 seconds. In a 60-second period the wolf did 21 things. If it was doing JUST bite, that would track, but it has three other abilities it was using as well. You know, come to think of it, I might revisit the test with a howler with NO upgrades, so all it has is the basic bite and lunge. See if it actually attacks more often. If it does, then we can try and narrow down what might be causing the dead zones. @WumpusRat excellent. way to take the initiative! What a community we have here.
  13. Agree, range pets can make things more simple. since the bots are 100% ranged, beside their dumb brawl attack that all pets get. You can abuse the GOTO command to keep them out of AOE's and melee range. so while your healing/buffing/debuffing. if you see one run into melee range just GOTO them back out of it. When i'm on bots and using FF i use this bind to quickly move them out of melee /bind LCTRL+LBUTTON petcom_all goto or you can use shift if you prefer /bind LSHIFT+LBUTTON petcom_all goto
  14. I only really play support based toons. I love it when a tanker is on the team. Things generally seem to go smoother. Hell even controllers have a thread about the need for them at 50
  15. :o I forgot about this thread. I should have just bumped it and asked, but instead I created a new thread asking this same question. Has anyone reported this as a bug regarding beast pets?
  16. Where they just stand around not doing anything. They start the attack fine. It seems that once they start cycling their attack chains they reach a dead spot. https://forums.homecomingservers.com/index.php/topic,5922.msg48980.html#msg48980
  17. Here is a popmenu guide from the old live forums. I’ve just started reading about this myself. It looks exceedingly useful for sure https://web.archive.org/web/20120905181021/http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=136343
  18. I don’t have a build. But from reading the forums both are really strong in group and solo. it’s kind of a pick your poison type of deal.
  19. Just curious if anyone has actually reported this? I myself haven’t check the logs to verify, so I’m going off what the MM gurus are reporting.
  20. Still leveling my beast kin. He’s low 20’s now. But so far it’s pretty fun. The beasts are like fire and forget DOTs. Sure you have to manage them but since they are melee they are usually right beside you zooming at 100,000 miles per hour. Just imagine how great it will be if they can fix the 33% non attack gap that beasts have
  21. /nature seems strong so far It has absorbs. ground place heal. AOE heal, and some other tools I can’t remember off the top of my head.
  22. I asked Bentley Berkeley (who’s an old school long time blaster) about soloing as a blaster and some general advice over PM a few days ago. Here is his advice. It makes a lot of sense to me. Even though it isn’t the skills that you have listed above. “I speak specifically for blasters but some of it is universal. Dark is an oft under rated set because its not huge upfront DPS even on a blaster. However its to hit debuff aspect can increase a blasters survival by a huge factor. Especially if you slot the powers with to hit debuff IO sets. at least partially as you still want to buff their dmg at least with 2 lvl 50 dmg IOs in the end for some solid punch. Mental secondary is great for several things, but mostly for Drain PSyche, with the right slotting it will give you max end recovery and as high as a 100 hp a second regen at end lvl. Which is not that far from what a regen scrapper is able to top out at. Psi dmg in general is the least resisted dmg type in the game, with a number of enemies having an acute weakness to it like the clockworks. This helps compensate and then surpass other dmg sets even when one factors in Psi slightly lower base numbers. Psi also has alot of soft cc as does ment 2ndary, knockdown and knock backs, disorients and confusions. drain pscyhe also debuffs enemy regen making it very useful on power fuls as just a debuff attack So if your considering a blaster I really suggest dark, sonic, and psi as top primaries for their various uses, and almost always mental 2ndary unless you just cant figure a way to justify it concept wise”
