My understanding is ATC is fairly occupied with real life and when he gets around to it, he'll get around to it.

This is correct.

And really, this is why I often look at things like our Fast Travel pop menu and wonder why HC doesn't just come up with HC's version of a badger pop-menu.

I'll give you one guess as to who provided the prototype code for the fast travel popmenu, and the same person would likely be asked to maintain the theoretical HC badger menu. If you've done any testing on Beta, it's the same person that maintains the freebies menu there. My understanding is that the HC team generally doesn't want to deal with popmenus, and I don't blame them at all, so they typically leave popmenus to the modders.

I wasn't sure if the popmenu from CityModder would conflict, as the title of the popmenu is the same.

I highly recommend changing the name of any offshoots of my badge popmenu so that they don't conflict with my popmenu. My willingness to assist with troubleshooting such conflicts in the future is likely to be limited.

The short version is this: What are all the cool kids using to track their badges now? The spreadsheet? Homecoming Badger? Or just ATC's updated Popmenu? Their own spreadsheet?

So, for the past couple of years, I got burned out on badging.
Nowhere close to what Voltor was doing, but when page 7 hit, I had

Ukase
Ukase Fire
Ukase Rad

Imperious Ukase

Humdinger
Ukase Mace

Gordian Sting
Mirth Quake

Apache Fire
Apache Mace
Catabolic

All these characters had over 1000 badges, and 5 of them had all the badges at that time. The tedious nature of page 7 was just more than I wanted to deal with.
As a result, I stopped badging on all but Ukase. Somehow, I missed the winter badge last year, and I'll presumably pick that up from the candy keeper come December or when the winter event starts, and he'll have all the badges.

But here's my problem. The Homecoming Badger site, where I'd check off the badges as I earned them doesn't seem to be updated for the new stuff. I'm not clear on who maintained this one, but real life and/or interest seems to have gotten in the way. It happens, and it's all good.

Is there a method for me to add the new badges to this site myself? I think most of the stuff is stored on my system as, I read it. Do I need to take a crash course in some programming language?

ATC's newly updated popmenu has been a super big help, but as we know, 1600+ badges is a lot to sift through to find one you don't have, and often it's a praetorian badge name for one I already have. I miss the days where i can just click on the don't show collected badges, and it just shows the remaining badges I need.

I use BadgeSetList for checking what I need in certain accolades and my spreadsheet for some stuff that I like having on all chars, but I only have one badger and two other characters that have over 1000 badges.   Average seems to be 487 currently over 89 chars.  (Added a couple recently, so due for a trim again)

City of Badgers is an excellent alternative to Badger if you are looking for one. If you are using my BadgeSetList menu, I'd recommend checking the sequential lists I've provided therein. That's probably the easiest way to spot missing badges.

I thought I had made the answers to these two questions clear in previous posts in the thread, but in the interest of not repeating myself, I'd recommend re-reading the past few thread pages starting with my post at the bottom of page 12. It's real life that's gotten in the way. I actually had time ready to carve out to work on this, but then Hurricane Helene hit, and as I work for NC Emergency Management, much of my free time was lost with that. The free time I have had to work on CoH stuff since then, I prioritized to some Halloween-related updates.

I'm starting to feel like a broken record here, but I'll get to it as soon as I have the time.

Just FYI for anyone that might be interested, we are doing a training session this coming Saturday evening eastern US time, probably around 7-ish but that is not set in stone yet. I am going to be reviewing what it takes to create new badges and update existing badges in Badger. We are currently planning to meet over Discord. Anyone is welcome to attend, but please be serious about your willingness and ability to commit time to assisting with maintaining Badger going forward. Basic working knowledge of GitHub is helpful but not required.

I'm definitely marking my calendar for that. Which Discord? The Homecoming server?

I sent you an invite for the PM conversation where we've been discussing the details. For now I think the plan is to use the main HC discord, but if a better option presents itself in the meantime then we may use that.

Hi all,
Many thanks to everyone who helps to maintain the badge data for this project. I haven't logged into the game in a couple of years and all I really do now is push changes when they come along, but I'm more than happy to keep doing that while the app is useful.

I saw some questions about what skills are needed to maintain the project, and how to test locally, so I'll add a section to the readme for the main badger project that explains what you need and how to link the badge DB and test changes locally. If there's anything else that might help, just hit me up with a note on github (I only really check this thread when I get a DM on here).

ATC just spent the better part of a week teaching 3 of us how to do that and double checking our work 😛

Part of that was documenting the process. Once editing is done on that, we were planning on uploading it to the repo.

Where are we going, and why am I in this hand basket?

Check out the Unofficial Homecoming Wiki! Contributions welcome!

New user here - thanks to all who contributed for this tool.

I started playing around with it and updated a bunch of badges on my main badger manually before thinking "I wonder if I could just import this from game?". A quick search through this thread quickly answered that affirmatively.

However, before I do that, I'd like to save a copy of my manual work, but could not find a way to copy a character in Badger either in app or via a search of this thread. I tried changing the name on both the imported file and on the character in Badger, but there seems to be some internal key in the export that ties it to the character regardless (it even set my name BACK when I changed it on the character).

Is there a way to copy a character in badger so I can have both my manually updated one from log parser?

The only way I can think to do it is by altering the name in the chat log before importing it via the log parser. Leave your manually edited character as-is, then open the appropriate chat log (or better yet, a copy of your chat log). Find the line of welcome text from when you log in. It'll say 'Welcome to City of Heroes' or 'Now entering the Rogue Isles' (depending on alignment) followed by your character name. Edit your character name there to add the word 'Copy' or something similar to make it unique from the existing character name. Then import it. It should import using the altered name.

For anyone that cares, I'll still be around to help out with Badger, but now that we have some others trained and documentation soon in place, others will have the ability to update the database so that I won't be the bottleneck should life get in the way like it did this last time.
