Not too familiar with Shazam's powers, the wizard never did much.  Maybe an Elec/Storm/Mu Controller?

Captain Marvel would be an Inv/SS Tanker.  I've heard modern depictions increase the focus on electricity, to differentiate him from similar bricks.  In that case, Elec/Elec Tanker would work as well.

Actually, she's a FISS.

Quote

FISS (Flight, Invulnerability, Strength, Speed) is the most common meta powerset in the PS238 universe. The combination is common enough on Earth that FISSes are numbered. There is at least one in each of the top 50 super-teams. They make up 25% of the superhero population. FISSes are often discriminated against in the superhero business, and earn only 80% on average of what their coworkers do. As a result, the Infinite Vanguard was born, a superteam that seeks to better the lot of FISS supers by emphasizing capability over marketability. The organization was created using 84 as a figurehead, but is under the formal leadership of Forak, as the identity Zero.

The original big red cheese was largely a Superman clone without the heat vision or frost breath.  His ability of strength, durability, stamina, speed, and flight were basically the same.  He also had superior intelligence and wisdom.

The original Captain Marvel/Captain Thunder, did not hurl lightning bolts as the Mu epics would suggest.  The newer version, post New-52, can as the new incarnation of the wizard Shazam.

The original call to Zeus, through the shout of Shazam, had the lightning bolt directed at Billy/Captain Marvels current location.  This was later changed by writers into an offensive maneuver where Billy could dodge the bolt and allow the mystic blast to hit someone else.  Captain Marvel used this against Superman more than once.

There were Captain Marvels for DC and Marvel for a long time.  Which was fine even without a rename.  This thread isn't about the one that used to be Ms. Marvel.

The old TV show was Shazam also.

He is supposed to have all the powers of various Greek Gods

The Strength of Heracles, the Speed of Hermes, The Wisdom of Athena Etc, Etc.

But yes.  So many Expies of Superman exist its become the most common super type.

SS/Elec Brute makes the most sense if you are trying to recreate the character and play him thematically in game throughout all levels, but I actually think SS/Invul/Mu brute is truer to the character. He generally saved his command over lightning for special moments in battle, and tended to rely most on his enhanced strength, defenses, and flight throughout the majority of his fights.

The name has been Shazam since 1972 (when the character became part of DC), so chill it with the Captain Marvel chatter intent on sowing confusion.

For powers, the question would be which storyline to follow. But SS/(Inv or Elec)/Mu brute is probably the best fit for the more common versions.

Yes, but you used the word "she".

The Big Red Cheese identifies as male and his preferred pronouns are he/him/his...

The book was called Shazam, but the character has been Captain Marvel since the beginning.  D.C. trying to change that is not the first or last thing they've done that I ignore.

For the M.C.U.'s Captain Marvel* I'd say Humanform Peacebringer.  "FISS" plus photon blasts with everything.  Teaming up with scrubs buffs her resistance; with powerhouses, her damage.

*Clearly leaning toward her Binary power level.  Warbird was good, but not "punch out space battleships" good.
