Extreme Bug: Incarnate Level Banished Pantheon Ignore Level Differences

Recommended Posts

This is one is hilarious. And, after having checked other servers, I can verify the same occurring there, meaning this is a bug that has persisted since NCSoft era.

Incarnate level banished pantheon attacks ignore differences in level. This means that whether or not you are level 50, 50 (+3) or level 1, their attacks deal the same amount of damage to the player, and debuff for the same as well. Here's me at level 1 fighting a death shaman and a Totem.

Yeah. Totem kill me instantly, but the Death Shaman does a mere 10 ticks of 11.77. This was the incarnate amped version of Death Shaman, whereas the Totem is evidently just a cut paste of its normal version. The same happens with a defiler, bonespawn...and a RAVAGER. I'm sure you're realizing where this is going.

Check out this damage by our favorite Doomsday demon on a level 1 hellion.

That's right. This extends to the Banished Pantheon Lore Pets as well. Or to put it in another way...

This is the reason BP Lore Pets are unrivaled in damage.

Banished Pantheon lore pets have been attacking while ignoring the 0.3-0.9 damage penalty. Against enemies higher level than they are (49) they have been receiving an ENORMOUS buff, whereas against enemies lower level than you or they, they have been becoming weaker than they should. In other words, in incarnate and +4 content BP unrivaled OP, when exemped down to 45 or so they are probably one of the much weaker lores.

So far I can verify this bug affects:

Death Shaman/Shamaness

Frost Shaman/Shamaness

Storm Shaman/Shamaness

Elder of Sorrow (None of the Elder's Spirit mask pets are affected by this)

Elder of Pain

Elder of Desire

Elder of Death

Ancient of Sorrow

Ancient of Pain

Ancient of Desire

Ancient of Death

Bonespawn

Defiler

Ravager

Notes

  • Debuffs from these enemies are also not being properly purple patched.
  • Damage dealt to them is working fine. Their attacks seem to be either missing some flag saying to acknowledge level difference or hit with a flag that says not to.
  • Applies to natural level difference and level shifts
  • Likely applies to Incarnate Trial enemies in Dilemma Diabolique (which would mean their damage should be higher)
  • Likely applies to Sentinel of Mot (this is untested)

Well spotted! This can be examined in more detail on the new City of Data site, all the Incarnate Lore Ravager Essence's non-self targeting powers have a no-combat-mods.png Does not scale with enemy level flag, same as the BP Endgame Ravager. For comparison purposes, here is a Incarnate Lore Toxic Tarantula Essence, it's powers displaying no such flag.

This appears to be the case with every single effect of all of the non-self targeting powers of the Banished Pantheon Lore Summons, across Ravager, Banespawn and Defiler Essences. Specifically, all the powers in these powersets:

There appear to be a few other powers from other Incarnate Pets that have these flags, but not to such a huge degree, mainly on heals, mez effects and pseudopet summons; rather than attacks.

Nice work!  I always wondered why the Banished Pantheon lore pets seemed so much better compared to everything else.

Indeed.  It will be nice to see greater Lore pet parity should the “Does not scale with enemy level” flag be stripped from the Banished Pantheon Lore pets’ attacks.

I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of farmers suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.

But according to the same City of Data - Enervating Storm power cast by Banished Support

https://cod.uberguy.net/html/power.html?power=banishedpantheon.defiler_pets.frigid_storm&at=minion_praetoriansmall

Still DOES ignore level difference. It's autohit, affects up to 999 (what is this number, l thought 255 is the highest) targets, does damage and is cast by untouchable Support at the same time. If the pattern is going to be followed l think it should have # of targets reduced to 16 and its Damage replaced to something like -50% REGEN. Also Talons of Vengeance Boss has Seasonal Shift damaging power which hits 255 targets, l think it must be reduced to 16 as well.

Heh. It looks though like these Lore pets:

Banished Pantheon

Talons of Vengeance

Knives of Vengeance

Tsoo

Were introduced either right before shutdown, or even during shutdown, by the SCORE guy(s). Given that SCORE guy(s) did not have access to all CoH tools, it's even miracle lMO how they could even make ALL THAT JAZZ including Rad Armor/Melee other powersets, Sentinel AT, new zone Khallisti (even if it was in source code they grabbed), Market Crash TF, enabling Costume pieces, Tintable Epic/Incarnate Powers, some new AE powersets, a lot of other new content/revampz etc... And tons of tons of tons of otha stuff, and their dogs.

Well when one-to-very-few persons do such hellish amount of work, like Unbroken Spirit update, it becomes absolutely no surprising that numerous lil' untidinesses will be left here and there, and Banished Pantheon improper flagging is one of them. What's HOMECOMING team needs is to listen carefully to players who report about these bugs and fix them in no time!

Not entirely sure who qualifies as SCORe but this one was actually on beta a few months before shutdown.

Yeah.  They were all in the Issue 24 beta prior to sunset.  Since it was beta, they were probably just bugs that were not caught yet and would have eventually been fixed at some point, either prior to the actual Issue 24 launch or afterwards.

Wooow. What an amazing find! It was always somewhat odd to see Lore BP work so well as a force multiplier in level 54 content, compared to Longbow. Pull out 3 Lore BP and watch all 4 AVs melt in the final Tin Mage fight, whereas if you summon 3 Lore Longbow you're in for a much, much longer fight.

But surely that must just be their -res debuffs? Yeah, no kidding. Not only we got full damage out of them, but their -res debuffs were in full force as well. Essentially giving you a pocket scrapper AND defender all in one.

In retrospect this seems so obvious. Things are easy to miss when we don't really want to see them...

Edit - i'm guessing this was fixed here, though it's not openly said, nor mention of other lores. the data dump isn't up to date either i guess. BP lores remain absolutely broken from the -Res regardless
