Delta Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Agent V Update - Long Overdue Update - 7/5/21 It's been a while since I updated but I managed to reach Level 37 last night. I'll give a brief summary about what happened since the last update: * I started up the next series of story arcs and completed them, although the DE and BP arcs were a bit of a pain with the escort missions requiring me to turn off Field Operative in order to move the hostages. * I leveled up to Level 28 and obtained Trip Mine, which has helped a lot, especially with the Elite bosses that I faced along the way. It also helps with getting rid of Razorvines (the DE that act like trees in a mission that doesn't move unless you turn off stealth. * I completed both Striga Isle and the first set of Croatoa arcs * After reaching Level 30 (and picking up Weave), I completed the second half of the Croatoa arcs as well as start on the rest of the arcs * At Level 32, I picked up Overcharge, giving me a must needed AOE attack to clear mobs. * After completing the remaining arcs, I level up to Level 35, at which I took Evasive Maneuvers. I then changed my alignment to Rogue and traveled to the Rogue Isles where I conned the Arbiters and Black Scorpion into stealing a copy of his Scorpion Shield and making it my own (I ran BS Patron arc and defeated the EB at the end, which thanks to planting a lot of Trip Mines, was not as bad as I thought). * After returning back to Paragon City, I took on the Circle of Thorns and met up with the Envoy of Shadows. In the first mission, I had the unfortunate luck to face him as he was in the way of completing the mission. After a couple of lucks, as well as a bunch of Trip Mines, I was able to take him down without issue despite him conning Purple to me. In both the second and last fights, I managed to level up before facing him, taking him down with little trouble. * I also completed the DE arc in which you face off with Terra, another EB. This one took a little while as one of her underlings blew up my Trip Mine strategy, causing me to have to target her while avoiding her two ranged attacks. I did get hit a couple of times, but was able to deal the final blow to take her down. * Using the respec that I gained from completing Black Scorpion's Patron arc, I added in Charged Armor, giving me more resistance to Smashing and Lethal damage, as well as added Energy resist. * I then completed Levantera's two arcs and became a member of Vanguard. 1

Delta Posted July 9, 2021 Posted July 9, 2021 (edited) Agent V Update - 7/8/21 After completing Levantera's two story arcs, I returned to complete the remaining four story arcs that I have not finished. Gordon Stacy's arc wasn't too bad, although dealing with Crey Protectors using Moment of Glory was less than ideal. Thankfully, Gun Drone (which I named the Gun Bot 3000) was able to pull some attention away from them long enough for MoG to run out. The other arcs didn't possess much of a challenge as I leveled up to Level 39. After completing the story arcs, I decided to run the first Ouroboros story arc. After completing the short arc, I decided to run the old Positron Task Force. With Field Operative, I was able to run through the arc without issue, although the escort mission took longer than needed due to having to turn off FO to get the two hostages to follow me. I was able to complete it in under 90 minutes, although I feel that I could have done it slightly faster. After finishing the TF, I am halfway to Level 40. Yomo Kimyata Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 I thought of an iron idea that might be less draconian than "one and done." When your character dies, you can retire them and move on *or* give up an earned respec. Essentially this gives you an extra life, if you choose, at levels 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, and gives you an opportunity to earn more by running a respec TF. I'd take buying a respec recipe off the table -- too easy and cheap. Then, of course, you actually have to burn the respec. Just a thought. Who run Bartertown?
Delta Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 Agent V Update - 7/13/21 After finishing up my contacts, I was halfway to Level 40. After doing a few Radio missions involving the Freakshow, I went to Talos Island and took part in a Zombie Outbreak, followed by disarming a few Rikti Bombs in Kings Row during a Rikti Invasion. I then ran a few missions before finally hitting Level 40. I headed to Peregrine Island and did Ghost Falcon's mission to unlock his store before heading to my contacts. After visiting with my contacts, I did the starting missions for each one. On Indigo's first mission, I had to face down the Malta Group, all of which appeared to be one level higher, including the boss at the end of the mission along with a Crey boss. Thanks to Smoke Grenade, as well as my snipe, I was able to separate the two and take then down with no issue. After finishing up her mission, I unlocked Angus McQueen and started on his storyline involving the Rikti. Before heading to bed, I went to Skyway City and helped a group that was running the Synapse Task Force take down Babbage. I was able to get a few merits, as well as the Clockstopper badge. The next day, I continued on Angus McQueen's story arc where I captured one of the Rikti leaders, only to have to recapture her after McQueen's informant turned on him and completed his transformation into a Rikti Soldier. After taking him down, I was able to track down where the leader was being held. As I arrived, it turns out that Nemesis had taken her away to another location. After tracking them down to another location, I was able to save the Rikti leader from Nemesis. After that mission, I received word from Tina McIntyre that Portal Corp wanted me to investigate a strange psychic signal coming from one of the various dimensions that Portal Corp was observing. After traveling to the dimension, I noticed that the world that I ventured to was filled with Clockwork, but instead of electricity, they were firing off psionic attacks. As I was defeating the Clockwork, I noticed that the Clockwork King was behind the disturbance. After a hard battle, I was able to defeat the powerful opponent and upon completing the mission, I leveled up to Level 41 and took Maneuvers.

Let's say, checking for the ambushes, memorizing the objectives or checking if one of the missions in the story arc is "that one level"? Definitely have from time to time. Some I remember and others I say screw it and wing it. Sadly, I don't know all of Praetoria so when I got wasted by that one "thing" for lack of a better term, cured thing, I had bumped the difficulty and set to solo Bosses. LUL @Tax E

Delta Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 Agent V Update - 7/15/21 Upon logging in, I continued Angus McQueen's arc and learned that some of the Rikti had began to learn how to use magic. Upon fighting them, I discovered that they had captured a CoT mage who was forced to teach them how to use magic. Upon saving the mage who told me about their plans to reopen the sealed gateway to their home planet, I rushed to stop their plan. I managed to defeat them and stop their plans for the time being. After finishing up McQueen's story arc, I started to work on stopping Nemesis from controlling the world's weather. Working against the clock, I was able to stop his plans. I was also had to stop an invasion led by Nemesis Rex, a Nemesis from another dimension who fought with the Nemesis from my dimension. After dealing with Nemesis, I worked with Janet Kellum who vowed to take down Crey. After a few missions, I discovered that I was on Paragon City's Most Wanted list. Apparently I had gotten involved in a case that spanned a couple of decades involving a woman and Countess Crey. Boy was I and Janet surprised that the Countess was the woman that went missing over a decade ago. With my life in danger and reputation damaged to the point of Manticore stalking my every move, I worked to clear my name while continuing my investigation. I eventually cleared my name and managed to track down the Countess, who was hiding underneath the city waiting for an escape out of the country. After a good fight, I was able to arrest her and bring her to justice. I also leveled up to Level 42 before calling it a night.
Delta Posted July 19, 2021 Posted July 19, 2021 Agent V Weekend Update - 7/18/21 Having completed Janet Kellum's arc, I completed several missions from Madeleine Casey, Tina McIntyre, and Maxwell Christopher. I was eventually able to access The Praetorian War and To Save a Soul story arcs. This was soon joined by Indigo's story arc, which required me to visit Crimson before starting off. I decided to focus on getting Madeleine's arc done first, while working on the other two arcs. I did a few missions for Maxwell, but was not able to get him to give me his arc yet. I was abl;e to defeat several Fake Nemesis while doing his missions, though, so not a total waste. Dealing with Carnies wasn't too bad (unless you attacked an Illusionist that became intangible just as you attacked), although I was still cautious. Dealing with the Madame of Mystery was easy the first couple of times (defeating her by leading her into a massive trip mine barrage the first couple of times). However, when it came time to attack her as an EB, I made a near-fatal mistake. I didn't set up any trip mines during this battle as I had thought that hitting her with a heavy assault would win the day. Boy was I wrong. After stacking all of my purples, reds, and orange inspirations, I attacked. At first, the damage I dealt was okay, while the cleaver was doing decent damage, but was taking a bit long to use. As my buffs ran out, I realized that she was at 1/3 of her health. I also realized that my Gun Drone had attacked the crowd below, which brought in an Illusionist to the battle. I was then held and the MoM hit two attacks back to back for 60% of my health. I took a big gamble with combining three medium greens for a Good Luck, then went at MoM with all I had while avoiding the attacks of her minions. Near the end, I was able to finish her off before the Good Luck expired. I managed to level up to Level 43, and after a respec, continued with the Praetorian War arc. I took on Anti-Matter, who wasn't able to land a hit before teleporting away from danger. After a couple of more missions, I now must face Marauder, but that will be for next time.
Delta Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 Agent V Update - 7/19/21 After arriving at the location that Marauder was spotted, I flew towards his location. I took out any possible allies around him before planting a few trip mines near his location. After summoning my Gun Bot 3000, I sniped the minion next to him. I expected him to try to close the distance, but was surprised to see a boulder hit me from downtown to the tune of 375 damage. I wasn't expecting him to have a lot of range as I attacked him from more than 100 yards out. The fight dragged a little bit, but I was able to hit him with Disintegrate to weaken his regen. Eventually, after avoiding my mines, he ends up getting blown up by the mines and is knocked out. After defeating Marauder, I set up some dimensional scanners that would track any movements from Praetoria before diving into the final mission to stop both Anti-Matter and Neuron. While making my way through the lab, I found three Vanguard soldiers who joined up with me in my mission. We first came across Neuron, who was a level higher than me and my team (and conned purple). After setting up a few mines, I sniped him to get his attention. He then hits me with a Lightning Bolt that did around 300 damage. Thanks to the combined force of my allies and myself, we were able to take down Neuron with little trouble. After taking down Neuron, we made our way upstairs to the room where Anti-Matter was waiting for us. After setting up some trip mines, I sniped Anti-Matter. He and his robot made their way towards my squad where he was not able to hit me at all and we were able to defeat him with no trouble and complete the story arc. After completing that mission, I started up Maxwell Christopher's story arc before heading to bed for the night.
Delta Posted July 22, 2021 Posted July 22, 2021 Agent V Update - 7/21/21 I resumed Maxwell Christopher's arc involving Nemesis while also working on Indigo's arc on the side. I managed to get one mission where the mission objective was near the beginning of the map (got to love those). I eventually managed to get to the mission involving Nosferatu, one of the top members of the Council. After having my first set of mines ruined by a couple of minions, I was able to reset the minefield and begin the fight with Nosferatu. He tried to attack, but he is unable to attack me due to popping a Good Luck before battle. He tries to run, but I manage to get him towards the minefield, which nearly finishes him off (thanks to constant damage from Disintegrate). I was able to finish him off shortly after. After clearing the remaining mobs, I leveled up to Level 44 and regained Evasive Maneuver. A few missions later and it's time to take down Nemesis. After fighting a Mindless Nemesis, I eventually come across the real deal. I messed up my setup by summoning the Gun Bot instead of setting up another mine, but it did get his attention. After waiting on him to release his Personal Force Field, I was able to take him down once and for all. After taking down Nemesis, I completed the remainder of Indigo's arc. I had a couple of tense moments, but in the end, I rescued Melvin Langley from the Malta Group, as well as the British diplomat and Jim 'Thunderhead' Bartlett. After doing a couple of radio missions, I managed to get the Multidimensional Badge after doing a couple of missions involving the Hydra Men. I also fought a trio of EBs: Bile, Thorn, and Baphomet. Bile was a bit tricky due to him landing an X-Ray Beam early in the fight, but he wasn't too difficult. Thorn was the easiest of the trio as it wasn't able to do too much, and Baphomet was only able to land one attack before falling. After a couple of more side missions, I leveled up to Level 45 before logging out for the evening.
Delta Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 Agent V Weekend Update - 7/25/21 A lot happened during the weekend with Agent V. I'll give a quick summary of what happened. * I ran Maria Jenkins story arc and took on most of the Praetorian AVs, taking down Marauder, Neuron, and Nightstar down twice, to rescue Positron from Praetoria. * Most of the battles were easy, aside from the Malaise and Mother Mayhem, which was a little dicey due to all the psychic attacks being thrown around. * Manticore and I managed to rescue Positron and completed the story arc which leveled me up to Level 46. * I took down Marauder a third time, gaining the Agent Badge which I now wear with pride after preventing him from escaping back to Praetoria. * I also faced Siege, and managed to defeat him to unlock the Portal Jockey Accolade. giving me a decent boost to HP and Endurance. * I then focused on completing both Harvey Maylor and Unai Kemen story arcs starting with Unai's first. * After rescuing the scientists and retrieving the item needed to restore them, I faced off with Requiem and defeated him to end Unai's story arc. * I then focused on completing Harvey's story arc dealing with the Carnival of Shadows. * After defeating Giovanna Scaldi, I had to defeat Vanessa DeVore, who had managed to learn a lot about her abilities. * After a battle in which she most of her time running away, I was able to defeat her and complete Harvey's story arc. At the end of the arc, I am halfway to level 48.
Delta Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 (edited) Agent V Update - 7/27/21 After running a few side missions, I decided to see if V could complete the Sister Psyche Task Force. After starting the task force, I managed to run through it pretty quickly, finishing around the 58 minute mark. A lot of that was thanks to all but the final three missions were located on Talos Island. I was able to take down Clamor at the end without any issue as she was unable to hit me through the Good Luck that I popped before the battle. I did have a few missions with +2 mobs, but they weren't too bad. After completing the TF, I started the first of the Signature Story Arcs. I managed to race through the arc, finishing around 10 minutes. After finishing that arc, I decided to start on Serpent Drummer's story arc involving the peace conference between the Earth and the Rikti Traditionalist faction. After saving Lady Grey from a Fake Nemesis, I went to rescue members of the peace summit that were taken captive by Nemesis troops. After saving the captives from Nemesis, the Rikti Restructurist faction began attacking various places on the planet. After stopping their various attacks, I went to a nearby Rikti base where I meet up with Faultline, Fusionette, and Traditionalist Psi-Scout Lk'Onik who had ventured into a Rikti base. After saving all three, we came face to face with the Lord of War: Hro'Dtohz. After a tough battle, in which we were ambushed near the end by a Heavy Assault suit sent to aid their leader, we were able to defeat Hro'Dtohz. After finishing up the story arce, I am 1 1/2 levels away from Level 50. Edited July 28, 2021 by Delta Forgot to edit Update Title
Delta Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Agent V Update - 7/29/21 After finishing Serpent's story arc, I resumed Crimson's arc with Malta. I was able to find the missing doctor, Heidi Lamarr, but was greeted by tons of Malta Titans and Gunslingers, some of which pushed Agent to her limit. A few times, she was held and was close to dying a few times. Thankfully, either she was able to break free and have Gun Bot 3000 draw the Titan's attention or she would have to use a Break Free to escape and heal before the incoming damage finished her off. After saving the doctor, I continued my fight against Malta. Eventually, I discover the identity of Director 17 and arrest him and his men only to realize that they released another Kronos Titan into the field. I rushed to the sight and was able to bring down the massive enemy after a few ambushes. After finishing off the last of Crimson's missions, which left me 8 bulbs away from reaching Level 50, I explored some side missions from other contacts. I came across Freakshow leader Dreck and put a stop to his group reign of terror against another universe. I also ran several radio missions while hunting down Fake Nemesis on the side between missions. I eventually hunted down some Freakshow Tanks to complete the Freedom Phalanx Reserve Member Badge and get the accolade. Getting tired of running radio missions (I now realize why people run Council radio missions in this range), I decided to do the prison break event in Brickstown. During the event, I not only managed to get the last three Freak Tanks that I needed to get the Freedom Phalanx Reserve Member Badge, I leveled up to Level 50 in the process. Once I leveled up, I finished off the rest of my build by buying various purple sets and converting them to Ragnarok, which I placed in Piercing Beam. I then exchanged my various merits that I gained (over 700) and used them to get the catalysts needed to convert my Blaster and Winter Set IOs to their Superior sets. With that finished, I ventured to Ouroboros and met up with Mender Ramiel, who helped me on my journey to become an Incarnate. After retrieving the Honoree from a rogue Vanguard officer and retrieving an artifact from an escaped villain Incarnate, I made my way to the location of the well. After fighting my way through the cave, I reached the room where the Well of Furies was supposed to be. However, there was no well, only a trace of what used to be there. With that I managed to unlock my Alpha slot and logged for the night. 1
Snarky Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 I never did feel like I got an answer on how much of the Auction system you could use. Currently deep into a solo all Redside project but being confused here just left me unwilling to even take a swing at it. Also not sure what "levelling once per stream" means. Are you saying this only counts if you broadcast this? Because that is not stated even in the strict (if confusing) rules in the OP. It says it was designed with streamers in mind. Then, again, is left up to interpretation. Is it a tree, a snake, a wall or an elephant? Hellifino....

Apologies it has take awhile to get back to you on this. Been busy, work, etc. The Auction system can be "abused" as much as you are knowledgeable about it. There's an excellent video from one of the Ironman themselves. Dahle has a video on YouTube explaining in detail on how we used the AH to gain what we needed to fund our toons. You can view it here: The idea was a starter of sorts for those of us that streamed the game on Twitch or YouTube. Now not everyone is comfortable streaming so obviously that is your call and you don't HAVE to. You do what is comfortable for yourself. But those who wanted to up their challenge (especially with talking to viewers and being distracted by that can be 'fun'.) I've died 7 times and some were to distractions and just silliness. But the idea of level once per stream was, if you are streaming, you have to gain at least 1 level. Again, it was just to ensure people were actually attempting the challenge. We have had a few people not broadcast at all and got to 50. They gave detailed information on their levelling process. Again, if they were not telling the truth, they would be only cheating themselves out of a challenging experience. It's pretty loose on the entire deal but Mijurai wanted to have some rules in place as a starter and if you wanted to add your own challenges for yourself (like turning off inspirations entirely; yes someone did that), the choices and options are endless. Hope that cleared up some confusion! Best of luck!! 🙂 1 @Tax E
Ukase Posted August 3, 2021 Posted August 3, 2021 So, as some of you know, I was attempting a "drop" challenge, where my character would only slot items that dropped, or craft recipes that RNG graced my character with. And, of course, the defeat/delete penalty. Like this one, no p2w, but also no use of merit vendor or AH, except to sell. I gave it a good try. 5 characters - with mixed levels of success. My best effort was level 21 before getting clobbered in First Ward by an EB. I'd like to think I know a lot about this game - using tricks like completing SSAs for an SO, instead of the merits. So, I figure I'm going to table that challenge for another time. It really isn't much fun, although it is nice to get excited about an enhancement drop. Even more than when a purple drops on one of my farmers! So, I'm going to try this challenge - but with one change - no use of the AH to buy anything. I figure I'm so good at the market, I could have 1 billion in a day if I put the time in. Then I could slot whatever, and the only concern is defeat. For a character with IOs, defeat isn't really an issue in most cases - because I avoid certain factions at certain difficulty levels. (like Banished Pantheons at +4...that's a death wish for 95% of my characters, particularly the ones without any DDR or armor. Thanks to those who have given us the idea for something different! 1
Ukase Posted August 5, 2021 Posted August 5, 2021 Curious - I have some rare recipes that have dropped. But, the rng has not graced me with the required salvage. As I understand it - (and my own non-AH rule) - is there any rule against using AE (solo) to earn tickets for this salvage? I sure am missing the kb protection. Or would that be defeating the purpose of the challenge, earning the stuff to the point where the only distinction between this character and my non- challenge characters is convenience?
ZemX Posted August 5, 2021 Posted August 5, 2021 (edited) 2 hours ago, Ukase said: I sure am missing the kb protection. Or would that be defeating the purpose of the challenge, earning the stuff to the point where the only distinction between this character and my non- challenge characters is convenience? The challenge as originally stated really only disallowed conveniences like P2W or accepting any outside help whether from other players or your own alts. Otherwise, if you earned it on that character yourself, you could spend it yourself. I bought converters with merits at the merit vendor and sold them for quick cash to buy IOs I wanted. As far as AE goes... there is a prohibition on "power-leveling" but that's usually defined as having someone else higher level doing all the work while you just suck up a portion of the rewards and level fast. In that same spirit though, I would avoid any AE arcs that are specifically designed to farm tickets at some optimal rate... but that's just me. Nothing actually in these rules about it. As for the difference between this challenge and your non-challenge characters, it's kind of why I sort of gave this up at around level 21 with my Stalker. I had been comfortably set for SOs and even had money to buy some helpful procs. It didn't feel a whole lot different from normally leveling except for the lack of P2W. I was earning enough merits that it wasn't likely I'd have a problem slotting IO sets at around 30 as I typically do. The only other difference was being more cautious due to the permadeath thing. For the moment, I've decided to try @Snarky's all-redside-arcs thing to see how long I can stick with it. The character is otherwise unrestricted. So far I've done through First Ward and am working on Nerva contacts now. If I do another challenge character soon, it will probably be something more like the Rogue Legacy idea recently posted here. Similar to what you're doing here: No buying from AH. Merit Vendor okay but no buying anything with merits just to sell at auction. So no converters for cash or to make cheap IOs into more expensive ones for sale. Only to use myself or store in the base. The legacy part means on death, the character transfers enhancements to the base for the next iteration of the character to inherit, along with anything else. Add to that a forced difficulty bump of either +1 or x2 (player choice each time) at levels 15, 25, 35, and 45. I like the idea that it's not exactly permadeath but not "death is meaningless" either. You still have to start over but you theoretically start over each time wealthier and eventually are pretty well off for enhancements and such. But you put a lot of time in for that too. Ukase Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 (edited) Bah humbug. Sadly, my SO only character, at level 20, during a posi flashback got smacked down by 3 cadavers. I had a full health bar, AM was just spammed, Sniped one, two whiffs, and despite choking cloud running, and what I thought was paying clear attention to what was happening, the damage taken from a couple of smacks, compounded with a slow, low HP heal...just wasn't enough. I think I now have to demote my playing ability from better than average to slightly better than mediocre. And all I needed for the kistmet accuracy that had dropped was one lousy uncommon salvage! Back to the drawing board.... Edited August 7, 2021 by Ukase bad grammar

I'm not sure what the difference would be between a PUG and other players also participating in the challenge. Regardless, I've just become aware of this, and I'm definitely gonna give it a try. 1

I believe it's because you could be sidekicked up to someone else's level AND have a pocket healer handy to buff/heal through any tactical mis-steps and bad luck. There's also issues with them generating INSP's with Inner Inspiration, and feeding them to you at opportune times (hard to tell if you got that insp from a mob defeat or someone handing it to you). You can't run the Tour de France with your friends, you have to have a support crew that's sanctioned by the race. Similarly, here. AE ARC's (So Far!) -------------------- 15252 Child of the Tsoo - [SFMA] Ninjas, sorcerers, and human trafficking (Origin Story - Stick Figure/Storm Lotus) 50769 Hunt of the Eclipse - [SFMA] Finding something that was lost to Arachnos for nearly 20 years (Origin Story - Daisy Chain) 53149 Spells as a Service - [SFMA] When a young hacker makes a connection between magic and mathematics and encodes it into a computer program, chaos breaks loose!
