No way. Only an idiot would think he has any idea whether or not what I'm saying is true.

I have an idea as to whether or not your are telling the truth....is it a correct idea? I need to drink a few more rum and cokes to decide.

ps: anything can be used as an excuse to get more rum.

I'm not reading through 10 pages to see if my answer is in here, but for my characters that have KB I point out that I'm using it like a leafblower to push mobs into the tank/AOE zones. I've never had someone insist on the point after that.

The downside is that I then have to not be a bad player and fling mobs around like Mardi Gras beads.

obviously you are using knockback wrong.  all the knockback advocates here say you should knock opponents as far apart as possible and let the scrappers chase them like puppies chasing toys.

I use my powers for good by choice. If I felt they needed a demonstration that choice could be changed, I think few power pushes at magnitude 44.5KB on a 1.6 second cooldown would result in plenty of chasing.

I have power push with a single kb... I think I'm gonna 6 slot it for kb amd recharge and see what it does. Maybe put some procs in it?

I don't know. All those procs are going to mean less KB...

Honestly, it would probably be fine. I made the hero with the mega KB before I really got the proc mechanics and it's slotted with the full Force Feedback set that has a horrible proc rate of 20%. With the better less crappy knowledge level I have now, I'd go either all Kinetic Crash (the 6-slot bonus is +recharge and the others are pretty nice) or the three damage procs which will roughly have a 40% chance to go off along with three KB/whatevers.

Heh.  The greater majority of my attacks always get 6 slots, with the intention of a full set of one sort or another (with ATOs, Winters, and PVPs getting priority early on); and there are very few sets that have a KB to KD piece, K-Crash and Overwhelmong Force.  And OF is one per character on top of that.

Oops.  That should have been Sudden Acceleration, not Kinetic Crash

Been playing an energy blaster and it is the most fun I've ever had playing this game. I started as a Tanker, so I am aware of the list of problems knockback can pose on teams.

My current issue is I am not causing any of those problems, but I'm still getting the "advice" to change KB to KD.

I am sure this has been discussed many times. Does anyone have a short, succinct explanation that they have had success with? I'm not optimistic... as the person saying it rarely has any reasoning behind it. This is a reflexive thing people do sometimes, repeating conventional "wisdom" out of context.

The game has an ignore function for a reason. Players will pretend to want realism in the game right up until the point where kinetic energy meets a body, and suddenly they really just want mobs to stand in one place and die with a smile.

KB to KD in Foot Stomp and Hand Clap is hilarious...  I call it the Tucchus Twostep, if you can keep it going...

Stomp-clap-stomp-clap.

And for some reason, it gets Hillbille Hare stuck in my head.  Go figure

Knockbacks are amazing! Especially when you get the angles right they allow you to be more strategic with which order you fight enemies and great for keeping AVs or mobs away from each other while taking them down.

Maybe there could be an enhancement or something, that can turn KBs into KUs (knockups). KnockDowns work great as well. Peacebringer is my main and I love that I have KB abilities and KD abilities. So cool.

Is that true though?  I don't know that anyone wants realism in this game in particular.

I don't expect the OP to care, a year later, about my response, but I would tend to just be honest.   Say something like, "I'm sorry [insert player name here], I play an Energy Blaster specifically because I enjoy KB and want to use it.  I understand that it can be annoying sometimes, but it's really fun to cause enemies to go flying and I hope you can indulge me."

I wish more folks could just be honest about this.  There really isn't many use cases for KB in relation to KD or KU.  KD/KU is just better to keep things in place.  The reason to use KB is that it's fun.  If you're going to make the team go slower, then lean in for goodness sakes.  Send crap flying.  Be an engine of chaos.  Don't hover over the spawn to effectively just cause KD.  If you're going to be a KB player go for it.

15 months later, and the jokes are still somewhat amusing.

But, if I can be serious for a moment, KB can certainly have an impact, both positive and negative on team play. And I generally recommend players that have KB in their powers try to position themselves so that KB works in their favor. The very thought of suggesting ANYONE use anything other than the Overwhelming Force Damage/Chance to Knockdown/Knockback to Knockdown strikes me as being a bit selfish.

If you're in the SG with them, and team with them often, I would like to think the group can come up with a strategy to deal with it, either the Scrapper hits the F key, or the player with KB finds a better way to position themselves, or alternatively, promises to dispatch of the mobs they KB away. The latter is probably the best solution.

If you're in a pug and you have to deal with it - sure, it's no fun. I'm coming from a labyrinth, and someone KB'd a Fog from the top of the Arachnos map about 150 feet lower. Once, a PB KB'd a safe fog into unsafe territory. I just leave them to deal with their mess. But, at the same time, slots are hard to come by, particularly for a PB/WS. I'm never going to tell them to slot the Sudden Avalanche or the OF. Not unless they ask me without prompting me. I have no business telling anyone what to slot, or where to attack from - unless I'm team lead, and I'm trying for a specific strategy, or they ask me. Otherwise - I will say nothing and deal with what I choose to deal with.

If you're someone that finds dealing with KB is too much for you, then you need to be sure you're the team lead so you can look through the builds of each prospective teammate and kindly explain to them your blood pressure (or whatever) makes you unwilling to deal with it.

There really is no other reason to ever bring KB up again, unless it's an option at Null, or within our individual UI options.

Dammit, I'm re-slotting some of my Energy Blast characters now!! Look out, here I come.
(If I keep this up, the whole server is going to have me blocked).

I slot mine with 2 acc, recharge, kb, and Blistering Cold: Recharge/Chance for Hold (and I can't remember what else off the top of my head I haven't played any of my ice/ma blasters for a while.)

Knock them up into the air and into a corner or wall, blast them until they try to stand up, and ki push them again (well mine ki push is on auto-fire at any rate) .. well except for those times that they turn into a block of ice and then I keep blasting them until they thaw out.

I want to make sure it hits, but it sounds like fun to try to "knock them out of the ballpark"

If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore.

(It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications)

Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case.

But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable.

Yeah, well, I guess that is why Buttstroke has disorient rather than knock up.
