What is the question about double xp?  If you're sub level 50 and you have a 2xp booster, you'll get twice as much xp as if you did not have the booster at all.  This was easily testable and those were the results.

Which is why I said misconceptions. Because there were plenty of people during the event that kept telling others to turn off double XP claiming it only gives 11x XP instead of 20x (which in itself is a misconception).

Not everyone is inclined to do testing or comes to the forums looking for test results done by players.

It's a good event that brings old players back into the game, even if it's for just two week. It got me playing again after been away for a while, now I'm interested in a few of my old characters again. Two weeks is a good period for the event as a single week would limit how many people can participate due to work and other reasons.

What made the event the most fun was the players taking the time to arrange leagues and keeping everyone entertained.

I think the D.O.O.M. critters are all 1000% XP and the Dreaded Mapserver is 2000% XP.

It was a fun event when it first appeared on the scene. Nowadays, this year in particular, not so much fun as it used to be.

In the original years, you could see and target all the critters and have a sense of what was happening but for whatever reason may be too many players the opposite has become true (I have only experienced this event on Excelsior). Like Halloween, this event has become farmed and a shortcut for XP and levels.

I joined two times in 2025 at the beginning and towards the end.

A thing I didn't like was players dragging the Dreaded Mapserver to police drones for them to destroy it. 😞

I really enjoyed the way it brought so many together working & cooperating together. I ran one character from level 1 to level 40 just doing them which was fun over the last couple of days of the event.

I'm rather sad that...

In retrospect, I like the way it filtered the players joining the lower level taskforces that I ran.  No one was joining synapse with an unslotted level 15 toon to hopefully get some easy levels when the even lazier MS XP was so much easier to get.

I also like the MS event because it is great for testing damage in a target saturated environment.

I am fairly ambivalent about the xp.  I can farm a toon 1-50 just as fast if not faster than sitting in a MS league.

..Is this why all the TF's I've been joining, while trying random power sets, has gone so well? I confess I've just been polite about not mentioning how much I hate the lag. I just to TF's and stay out of zones the MS was going on in. I didn't realize it was what caused TFs to go so eerily quickly. Waves of enemies getting cleaned in 2 seconds flat each time.

Edit: No really. Someone has to have noticed "Deka" or "Deka-chan" go through synapse and posi like dozens of times. Always with roughly the same appearance yet different powers. Sometimes standing around having a silent existential crisis about how little I'm contributing to this amazing AOE spam and fast clear going on. Then resuming fighting because I don't want to purposefully be a filler seat.

Wait, there was a special event? 😐 I didn't see any post on it under the Announcement or Patch Notes forums.

Didn't you see the Hero/Villain Zone Announcements every 10-15 minutes in game about the mapserver gaining sentience?

Also, this is the 4th year in a row this event has repeated on April 1.

I enjoyed it very much, and as I don't usually get to play every single day, I was glad it ran for 2 weeks.  I was able to level up some characters I would not normally have time to play (warshade, soldier, etc).  Shout out to the Torchbearer leaders including Fire Ken, Calamity-something, and there were more I can't recall.

It did make it tough to form teams for regular content, but it was only 2 weeks so no big deal.

2 weeks is enough for casuals to get some action and it's a fair limit for the folks annoyed by it. I just started on Homecoming and it was cool to have an event right away.

Lag was awful and all I could fire off most of the time was pbaoe. I tried.

Well, I can't see the Hero/Villain Zone Announcements if I'm not online. And I would not know to be online for an event if it was not posted on the Forum. I just find it odd, because all the other events (Halloween, Holiday, Spring Fling) seem to have an Announcement or Patch Notes post. Oh well.

MOST of what I see during Mapserver is a lot of people having fun, even if they are essentially just standing around farming XP+.

There are a tiny fraction of players that get weirdly vocal (in LFG, elsewhere) with hints of entitlement, as well as borderline bullying/toady behavior, presumably because "somebody's doing something that robs me of my XP!" that I don't like to see.

There were, of course, some excellent league leaders, specifically those who paid attention to who was in their league and who had team stars. There is (in my experience) a wide gulf between folks who want to lead a league and those who simply want a league to make their own rewards come faster.

I've confirmed with the devs that it's +100% boost so it is indeed x11 not x20. The event gives +900% (for a times 10) and with the extra +100% makes it +1000% (for a times 11). It's additive not multiplicative

And I was promised no maths when I applied to be a GM. They lied!!

I did the math in this post, I'll link instead of copy.

Having the 2xp booster gives you twice the xp than if you do not have the 2xp booster running.  You get twice as much, full stop.  Not 1.1 times (which is what 11 xp vs 10xp would give.  No appeal to authority is going to change empirical data.

I edited to change the post linked to.  I copied the wrong one initially..

For me the best part was unlocking incarnates quickly. It was the primary reason for doing it, beyond the nifty green color my costume would get changed to for a short time.

By coincidence, I finally found the motivation to get Homecoming installed and running on my Steam Deck a couple of weeks before the event, and after over five years away it took me those couple of weeks to start feeling like I actually remembered how to play the game. MS came along at just the right time to be my first non-solo activity, and brought up a lot of good memories of the Second Rikti Invasion back in Issue 10, albeit on a smaller scale.
