I've played on Excelsior shortly after coming to Homecoming about 6-7 years ago. It used to be a heavily populated server in the mornings (due to foreign time zones) and the evenings. The LFG chat was loaded with text flying up. You had to either read very fast or stop it manually. There were tons of TF's, trials, Farms, arc teams and players looking to join.

The last couple years had seen a steady decline. Mornings are mostly dead and the evenings only see an hour or two of peak. Sundays don't see much action until the early afternoons.

It seems that most players have moved on to the more popular and modern mmo's. Populations there soar in the tens of thousands on each server. I don't care for those mmo's because you have to stand in a long line to complete a single quest or mission. Builds are mostly "cookie cutter" with most players having identical characters of each class.

I was on Excel earlier today, a Tuesday morning JUST after maintenance, and LFG was hopping with several teams, TFs, and people looking for teams.

But I guess you weren't asking a question just stating a flawed premise, so, ...ok?

Not really. Player numbers seem pretty steady. We saw a big spike with the licence announcement, followed by a steady drop-off, but the numbers now are a bit better than before that point.

Are you periodically coming on to post the same thing?

I could have sworn I saw another post like this from you not so incredibly long ago. But I'm old, and time seems to be going by faster now.

It seems like you can't get a team as fast as you want regardless where you are gaming.

With the amount of Mids use here, you can say the same thing about the "cookie cutter" builds here.

I can say this about changes in population, it seems that there is an increased number of players that are only playing level 50's on most of the servers by looking at the /search list.

If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore.

(It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications)

Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case.

But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable.

Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.

You post a variation of this every 3-4 months.

Do you forget what you post?  Are you trying to create your vision? Are you scared?   Are you trolling?

You get the same data handed to you each time.  Which, evidently you either forget or do not believe.  I will give tou the benefit of the doubt, and after this post you fillow uo and confirm with your own diligent research.  Then have a few blackout drunks while raving in Vegas.  So, see you again in 3-4 months when i post a variation of this response in your next “The Sky is Falling” thread.

Cheers.  (Have fun in Vegas)

Looks like last complaint was Jan 11 about Victory being added.  (I play there a bit, and it's not even as quiet as you make Excel to be.  And I took a look at one of my chars there last week and immediately was able to join an ITF.)

I also play on Lord of the Rings Online. It's also not as strong as it was ten years ago, but I have a group that meets at our regular time.

I had the exact same thought!

It's probably a generational thing.  I'm a solid Gen Xer, and I was having a conversation with a millennial and I referenced Alice from the Brady Bunch.  I apologized, "Oh, you may not recognize that reference," and he replied, "No, I know the Brady Bunch!  I really liked Alfalfa."  I lost it completely.

I’m solidly in millennial.  I grew up on Seinfeld and Friends.  I don’t think I’ve ever watched the Brady Bunch, but I do know Little Rascals.

I am reminded of the SNL sketch “Buckwheat sings the Classics” with Eddie Murphy, but I can’t seem to find the full clip.

I took a year's vacation from CoH at one point when I'd overplayed it for a time and burnt myself out. But I'm back.  Wouldn't shock me if every so often other players take a break from the game. But I do think the server is at least as populated as it was when I left, maybe more populated now.

Not sure mornings are the greatest indicator, in any case. Especially weekday mornings.
I'm sure there are some retirees playing CoH, and I may be one soon, but lots of folks still working for the man.

I agree that the recruiting for ITF is quite frequent on most servers.

I play in the mornings and overnight hours as I'm a night shift worker, and have definitely seen a drop off during those times.  I'll pop by Excel's Atlas at say three am and there's maybe two people standing around Ms. Liberty.  Often times when there's just one DfB trying to fill or another speed run for whatever spamming the chat every 30 seconds for ten+minutes.  I usually end up using such times to work on an AE arc, or just not play, I should read more books anyway.

There does often feel a lull as people wait for a big update to drop, maybe that's part of what's going on here too.

ETA: forgot to add that as a "mature gaming experience" here and now, we all fall into the same patterns and behaviors, which could slowly peel away people who don't care to play following those behaviors (speedrunning for example, I didn't join that guy's group) as well as burning out those who do after awhile by boredom of repeating the same ol thing.
