I want to express my distaste for locking costume parts behind an end level raid. I keep weird hours and can often only play CoH around 10 PM PST, which if you are not aware, is when an overwhelming majority of the rest  of the world is asleep. Low server population play time is my only play time, and that’s likely to never change. I don’t see how I would ever unlock these costume parts, and that’s a shame because HC had seemed to do away with the practice for everything else. It’s not that I don’t want to do the Labyrinth or that I think it’s too difficult, I just will never have the opportunity.

None of those parts require a raid. You can do repeatable missions that reward 10 or 15 Obols and aren't even that hard if you downgrade AVs to EBs. It took me less than an hour to unlock all the parts while solo.

I'm not a fan of locking costume pieces either, but let's not overstate the difficulty here.

Don't you have to complete the raid once (Kill the Steak) before you unlock the repeatable contact?

No, you just need to get to the core, which you can do by teleporting to a player already in there or by earning the history badge for the zone.

Mastermind Henchmen now all spawn even level

FINALLY, but don't forget this needs to be the same for ALL pets for the same reason, not just MM pets! There is also no need to nerf them at least for their to hit/accuracy, as that was part of the big problem they had in the first place with the level issue. Also, kinda a big thing that not just team inspirations, but using any inspiration should transfer over to your pets. And can we PLEASE make the upgrades pbaoe at least so you don't have to target a pet first! I know you said something about not making them auto, but at LEAST make them pbaoe! Also, can we get MM atos working in the attacks too, not just the tier 7 power? I assume the issue is a coding one since it's technically a pet set, but since it can be used in a power like fortify pack, that shouldn't matter, let us slot them into the attacks too.

Edit:

  • Tier 1 henchmen max HP decreased from 574 to 448
  • Tier 2 henchmen max HP decreased from 768 to 654

This also kinda defeats the purpose of WHY the level issue needed to be addressed. Please don't nerf their hp.

Can we also get globals to transfer over to the pets like the 3% defense uniques and kismet not just set bonuses?

Train Beasts

Please don't forget to allow us to enhance the beasts defense and resistances in the upgrade powers!

Also as a whole, can we please get the ai fixed on pets for fear so they don't run 200ft away if they step over a burn patch for .001seconds, they should really have fear immunity since we can't do anything with the pet ai for that, but at the very least fix it so they only run out of the patch, not 200ft away. Given how crucial some pet positioning is as well, they should have some inherent kb protection (yes some of the kb bonuses may transfer but that's also only bonuses, not the globals right? so 40% isn't a ton). Especially for beasts at least, since they're melee pets only, should have high knockback potection/resists.

On necro soul extraction as well, can we please get a fix so that at the very least, the extracted pets don't die if the original pet does, but also it should just cast all 6 each time IMO as well, but at least make it so the extracted pet doesn't die if the base pet does.

Sonic melee: please, please, PLEASE move deafening wave sooner. All main aoe powers should be available by at least 20, super annoying having any later than that for the main aoe.

Sandman's Whisper [Tanker/Brute/Scrapper only] - Melee, DMG(Smashing/Energy), Foe Sleep, -Res(DMG)

  • You whisper on your foes ear with a slumbering effect. Foes affected might fall asleep and will have their resistance to damage lowered.

Does it look like I'm giving a little kissy kiss because that'd be awesome.

The patch notes say:

Labyrinth of Fog - Core (Requires the 'Slayer of the Minotaur' defeat badge. No longer requires 'Conqueror of the Labyrinth' badge.)

So is that wrong? Again I genuinely don’t understand. And how does one earn the history badge? It looks like on the wiki that all the plaques are in the core so to get that I need to be in the core already? And if I need to TP to someone already in the core how would I do that? How would someone get to the core initially without doing the raid?

I appreciate that there is an alternative route and thank you for pointing that out. But I din’t understand how I would accomplish that without doing the raid at least once.

The Labyrinth gives you 2 free powers when you enter it. One is TP to a person. Someone who IS attuned to the core can be TPed to.

The other free power basically takes you back to the "lobby" area with the 4 portals and the way back to the Midnight Club.

So then I’m kinda right back where I started with playing at times where I’m one of like 5 other people online.

At what time and server would that be?

There should be one, is the ring not showing up in the OB build?

I have not had a chance to test it yet, but it wasn't listed.

Once I check, if this is not working I will share.

Thanks for the response.

Zone

Kings Row

  • New zone gate leading to Perez Park added to the north-east corner of the zone.
  • The Galaxy City connecting tunnel has been restored. Secured by Vanguard, some familiar-looking heroes fight to ensure the danger brewing in Galaxy City can't leak out onto the streets of King's Row!

The Galaxy City tunnel being restored is fun! I couldn't get a good look at those heroes, but are they supposed to be the figures from the Loading Screen? I caught their names as Goldie, Mighty Monk, and Kamakiri, is this the first time we're getting names for those characters? Either way, I like it (and so does my main hero who's *still* completely traumatized by Galaxy City gettin' wrecked)

Perhaps I should do a little more research, but since the T1 and T2 pets have their HP decreased, what does that do to their MAX HP?

  • Tier 1 henchmen max HP decreased from 574 to 448
  • Tier 2 henchmen max HP decreased from 768 to 654

So, is the MAX HP 448 and 654 respectively?

MAX HP = their base HP @ level 50. I had to ask this too.

MAX HP does not equal MAX HP CAP. Confusing, but the answer to your question might be, you still can increase pets HP. Unless it's unlisted, the MAXHP CAP might still remain the same. Hope that helps.

The game as weird as heck terminology.

Heaps of things to understand.

The one minor issue I have personally is when there are changes made that impact existing builds, it can be difficult to understand exactly what that is going to mean to my builds for your existing characters. I personally hate redoing builds for existing characters as it takes so much time to do a good first build unless your a expert at it and I don't want to have to "study" to redo it. While designing your build can be considered "fun" at times it can just feels like "work". Yes, I can just wait and copy other builds posted online, but then it seems somewhat like "cheating" and then it's no longer truly "my" character.

What I would really love to see is some indication on the Modify Enhancements screen that shows when any slotted enhancement has no affect been placed as it is, or only gives a negligible partial affect. While in most cases you can't slot a enhancement initially in a power that it will have no affect, it doesn't help when major changes are made to a power-set impacting existing builds.

A minor issue that I doubt there will ever been a solution for, but I can but dream.

MIDS or whatever it’s called now has this feature already.  Yes it takes some work but you can compare builds to see how different slotting and IOs will impact overall stats.

But I do hear you.  Most RPG’s quickly tell you if a weapon drop is going to have higher damage output or whatever stat with simple green/red +\- stats.  But realistically the permutations for IO set bonuses, especially when ‘combined’ with other totally different set and AT/power bonuses, is far more complex than is this sword better than that one.

That said….respecs are a PITA.  On average, and depending on the severity of the changes, they can take me an hour or longer to complete in-game…and that doesn’t even include the MIDS planning time.

I'm really sad that we've crossed back over into the 'Here are costume parts you've got to grind for' territory. We were already headed that way with hologram powers, but now I can't tell people that all costume parts are unlocked on character creation any more.

I said that after the snake cape you have to unlock. Doesn’t make sense on a free to play game. That they can’t make money from anyway. It makes ZERO sense to add grinding to this game.

It's barely a grind, I'm just exploring around the lab during testing and I've already got enough obols to buy every costume part that are lore linked to the lab, and they're mainly repurposed roman items you already have access to.

Sorry Masterminds, you have my genuine sympathy. Hopefully they give these changes several more passes before going live. Despite sounding positive you'll find they're not good, and in some cases quite terrible.

Not much to add to the costume debate...

I would be fine with locking costume pieces behind a grind if they were new. These are just reskins of existing pieces. And I completely understand that it is nearly impossible to import new pieces into a program that's nearly 20 years old. Instead of making the reward these pieces, make it the aether hologram pieces. Spending 10 aethers for an entire npc costume piece felt very inexpensive. Yet you have to earn 250 for a simple one like vines or a ghost shader? Seems like it should be the other way around...

Also: just a random thought I've had for years, but was too lazy to post until now.  If we can't customize our MM pets, it would be amazing to "turn off" their visual upgrades. Equip Thugs and Upgrade Equipment change the visuals of the pets. It'd be nice to prevent that from happening.

Anyway, just a thought. Thank you for all the hard work you mods put into this game!
