I don’t know how many people remember the old pylon damage test that was used to get a raw damage output for classes.  It originally started with Scrappers, but eventually other classes got involved.

You are only allowed to use attack and buff powers from you own power sets.  No temp powers or outside assistance.  External survivability buffs can be used, but only if explicitly stated and can ONLY affect survivability or mez resistance.  i.e.  No Fortitude because it buffs damage, no recovery aura because it alters attack chain sustainability, no Adrenalin Boost because it alters recharge, etc.

The idea is that you fight a Rikti Pylon in RWZ and time how long it takes you to defeat it.  You then plug the time into the equation below to get you raw DPS.

((HP+(Regen*Time))/Time)/(1-Resistance) = Raw DPS

The numbers I have in my archives for the pylons are below, though I would appreciate some secondary confirmation that they are still accurate.

HP=30677.15

Regen=102.26 HP/s

Resistance=20%

Final equation would be:

((30677.15+(102.26*Time))/Time)/(1-0.20))

Post your AT, power sets, time, and DPS number below.

I was just looking through this thread on the old boards the other day.  I was trying to find my number for my DM/Inv scrapper.  I know I was either one or two for DM(non-SD).  I'll have to go back through that thread to make sure.  I hope to re-create the build again and do this.

Thinking people may trick out ??/Rad and give it a go.  A little extra recharge build in along with -regen in Radiation Therapy would boost the DPS numbers over some other sets.

I am no where ready yet with my DM/SD and my next will be DB/EA

FlashBack to old days: Pinnacle

Langar Thurs-Katana/SR 50; Hejtmane-DM/DA 50

Rogue Spear-Spines/DA 50; Hypnosis-Ill/Rad 50

Just checked and pylons have 30677 HP. Attempting to figure out how to determine the regen rate. Ah, Power Analyzer from P2W vendor.

102.26hp/sec for pylons in I-25.

Resistances are still at 20%.

First run took 504 seconds.

Claws/SR brute. Followup, Focus, Slash, repeat.

So with the equation above and the new values:

((30677+(102.26*504))/504)/(.8)) = 203.9 DPS

Interesting to get back on the pylon tests again, though I'm starting with a TW/Elec Brute:

First run: 4 minutes 1 second or 241 seconds for ~287 DPS.

Second run: 4 minutes 11 seconds for ~280 DPS.

Third run: 3 minutes 57 seconds for ~289 DPS.

For attack chain I'm running Arc of Destruction > Crushing Blow > Rend Armor > Follow Through > Crushing Blow where the last Crushing Blow is replaced with Hasten every 2 minutes and Energize + Build Momentum every 30 seconds. Achilles' Heel proc in Rend Armor, Gladiator's Fury -Res in Lightning Field, purple procs in Rend Armor and AoD.

Incarnates used: T3 Agility and T3 Degenerative (75% chance for toxic damage).

Not quite sure if the attack chain is optimal but it's easy to maintain with the constant interruptions from perma Energize.

Torchbearer:

Sunsinger - Fire/Time Corruptor

Cursebreaker - TW/Elec Brute

Coldheart - Ill/Cold Controller

Mythoclast - Rad/SD Scrapper

Give a man a build export and you feed him for a day, teach him to build and he's fed for a lifetime.

420 Seconds (Dead!)

Spines/Bio Brute, Agility 4, Assault 3, Reactive 3

219 DPS

2nd Run

358 Seconds

234 DPS

Not great, but Spines, and Brute.  Something gets lost along the way.  Cant wait to see what the TW/??? and ???/Sheild Scrappers are putting up.

StJ/SR Stalker. Fully IO'd out, both stalker sets upgraded too. No purple sets. Tier 3 Musculature, tier 3 Reactive. Tier 3 Barrier, Lore, and Judgement but didn't use them. No hybrid.

198 seconds

((30677+(102.26*198))/198)/(.8)) = 321.4929~

321.5 dps

Don't think the rotation was optimized, but with perma hasten I was using:

BU-AS-CU (opener)

--

SB-HB-AS-SS

SB-HB-AS-CU

SB-HB-AS-SS

Crushing Uppercuts were hitting for anywhere from 800 to 2k damage depending on if I got the proc to hide and had build up reset. Spinning Strikes maybe half that, since I would save BU for next CU rotation. This actually wasted a few when it proc'd again but was still off cooldown. I also used a few Sweeping Crosses before I remembered they couldn't crit from hide like Spinning Strike can. Will probably give it another go tomorrow with always use SS over SC and always using BU on cooldown/reset.

Id love to see a Modern Murchilago (DM/Shield), a TW/Bio Offensive Stance Scrapper,, a Fire/Time/Soul Corruptor (floored regen makes much ‘effective’ DPS), and a - not sure which flavor - one of the Stalkers that plays games with autocrit off buildup triggers or some such - I dont speak Stalker - open up on this.  Maybe a Beam Rifle/? Blaster and/or a Fire/Bio Sentinel, just to get comparisons.

Or maybe a Proc-Timing-Abuse approach?

- I wonder what the pet summoners can collectively do.  Ninja/Kin MM?  Something else?

StJ/SR Stalker. T3 Musculature Total Radial, T3 Reactive Total Radial and T4 Assault Radial (Untoggled). 119 seconds for 450 dps. Disregard the watermark from the free software. I couldn't figure out how to record the video with sound.

I am going to try it on my dark/shield scrapper later, but I don't have high hopes. You won't be able to fully saturate AAO or  Soul Consumption so damage will be a lot lower. Though the standard buzz saw chain should still put out some good dps.

He is 1 second short of perma hasten but the old chain still works fine: MG - Smite - SL - Smite

Also going to do a few more runs on my StJ/SR Stalker and try a few different things I mentioned in my post above this one. Will edit this post tonight.

Good stuff, gives me something to aim for on mine. May have to test SC vs SS as the second finisher since you crushed it using SC. Pines is showing SS is higher damage, and can crit from hide, but maybe something is broken with it.

-whistles-  That is -very- impressive.

One thing Im finding interesting across the melee archetypes is it -seems- to be Stalker>Scrapper>Brute>Tank (not sure where the Widow lives... Id guess between Scrapper and Stalker?) - and thats exactly the reverse of the resilience curve.

It does make me thoughtful about the impact of IOs and Incarnate Stuff on endgame roles for melee - the post-SO content does a lot more to help survival than it does damage, and I wonder if we tend to skew more and more towards the DPS side of things.  If a Stalker can solo +4/x8, and a scrapper can tank raid bosses - what role remains for the Tank (and to a lesser degree the Brute) other than being overly-tough for any content in exchange for pillowfists?

Mayhaps Im overthinking what is not and never was meant to be ‘that sort of game’

I think SC has the better dps.

SC has a 91.76 base damage/1.848 cast time = 49.65 dps.

SS has a 94.2 base damage/1.98 cast time = 47.58 dps.

Also the Fury of the Gladiator -res debuff proc is slotted in SC, and has the stronger proc (Armageddon). By using IS and SC instead of HB and SS, the attack chain is fast enough that BU can be cast before any AS, with CU still getting the damage boost.

I hadn't considered the cast time difference. I have the proc slotted in SC already too and I hate HB so switching back to IS is fine by me. Guess I will drop a respec tonight and try it again with those changes in mind. Maybe see if I can at least grab at least tier 2 hybrid by then as well. The purple sets will have to wait though, I got alt fever so my inf is spread out all over... For now. Used to play nothing but DM/Shield scrapper, but StJ stalker is just so fun I find myself on it more than my old main. I may have to see about a StJ/Shield scrapper at some point.

Ah, that is why you go around collecting level 54 comm officers to come play with you.  They summon a steady stream of AAO and Soul Drain fodder, which is strong enough to survive a few Soul Drains but not strong enough to kill you.  It makes a MASSIVE difference with DM/Shields.

I was actually planning to do two runs, one like that to show maximum potential, and one with just the pylon in range for AOO and SD. Just cause I am curious how big of a difference it will be.

1.)  Did you find the gain from moonbeam offset the redraw cost?  That seems surprising on the surface, but Ive been wrong before.

2.)  What Adaptation was the character in?  I presume offensive, given the damage total.

3.)  How was end stability?

I used moonbeam only when momentum was down, so yeah, its massive damage offset the redraw time (do more damage than anything else than Rend Armor)

I used offensive of course

It was OK but I had to shut down tough/weave/manoeuvers.
