  1. I sometimes wonder if I'm the only person who actually enjoys travelling around Paragon and the Rogue isles, and gets slightly "awww... but you're missing it!" when I see people just bamph around with base teleporters and mission teleporters and the like.
  2. I do not like Null. I do not use Null. Null is dead to me. But if Null were removed from the game today, I don't think it would meaningfully change anything. X% of blueside players would just use Ancillary arcs instead of Patron pools. Others would just form Tip Mission Groups and do the tip missions to switch Hero to Vig, Vig to Villain, get the Patron power, and then Tip MIssions Villain to Rogue, and Rogue back to Hero. And it would take them a lot longer. And they'd be very unhappy about it. And they'd bitch a lot. But they still wouldn't STAY redside if they weren't already going to. So if the net effect is "nothing changes but you piss lots of people off".... then leave the bird alone. Let people shazam it if they want. If you really want to build up redside players, you need to make them want to DO redside content. Now if you actually LOST ACCESS to Patron Pools the second you returned to Hero or Vig, that MIGHT get X people to stay for the Patron pools. Might. But I think you'd probably have lots of people just using Hero Epic Pools. And those who did stay would feel coerced, not like it was a thing they wanted to do. I'd rather have people play redside because they want to try a character concept rather than just for powergaming reasons.
  3. That's one of my fav 3 XKCD's 🙂
  4. A dino island would be amusing, both from a Jurassic Park angle, and having Big Mean Stompies the players have to deal with. And certainly comic books (and CoH!) are rife with dimensional travel, alternate worlds, time travel, etc. I mean, in a real pinch, they could be Cimeroa'd in, if the real obstacle was some way to lore-wise justify it. But really, I think the problem is animations, skeletons, and then what do you DO with them? Why are the heroes going there? Why are the villains going there? Are these somehow Devouring Earth Dinosaurs coming out of Eden or the Abyss? Some hidden creations of Preatorian Hamidon? What kind of story arcs and missions would involve them? I'd rather see more effort on Moonbases or Lunar Maps (and I'm not actually seriously expecting anything like that for some time... if ever). Still, nothing wrong with adding things to the Giant Pile of "It Would Be Cool If...". I do wonder at how the HC Devs sift through them all though. 🙂
  5. I think I'll reluctantly support this. I admit, If I wanted to create a Time Defender named "Mañana Man", i'd want the proper accent mark. Because that's how it's spelled. And really, there's plenty of names out there that cause me to sigh, using 4 for an A, or other 1337-speak-isms, or with a variety of *'s or X's, or other punctuation on either side of the name. I already have no chance to send a tell by just typing the name. I click them when they speak in chat and hten choose "Send Tell To". So really? What difference do more accented characters really make.
  6. Whoa. Whoa whoa whoa. Actually communicate with other humans? Can we DO that? 😉
  7. Fair point. I missed the "not stored" rule when skimming your list above. As long as that's covered by something like that. AE custom enemies could still be created going down to lvl 1 though, .... I admit, I'm fuzzy if you could give them the exact same attacks.... I don't do a whole lot with AE mission creation / custom enemies myself. But would want to make sure that wasn't a back door to gve yourself a squad of Illusion Controlelrs, or a squad of Fire Controllers until you have 15 imps from all your T1 pets and T2 pets, flooding the area, or .... I'm sure some wild and crazy combos can be made. I mean, I like the idea in principle. It's just I also understand MM's are currently fixed sets only because that makes them far more controllable and balance-able.
  8. Ouroborous at least shows which issue each story arc was released in. So you know what came from i24 or i22, etc. Although I think that's just regular story arcs, nothing comparable to it for incarnate trials or such.
  9. Well, you're up-front about the "Will this be Overpowered" question. Points for honesty there. I would say this would have to dismiss pets and clear pets if you stop being sidekicked at anytime. Otherwise I can be a lvl 1, hop into somoene else's lvl 50 mission, and grab a Malta Zues, Malta Gunslingers, and Malta Sappers, keep them "saved", then quit out and go back to Atlas Park.... and make my own personal Malta crew for levelling from 1-50? That's INSANELY overpowered. You should not be able to "store" enemies who's minimum level to appear exceeds your own combat level by more an a few levels. Any stored enemny should not be able to use any attack OR defense power that exceeds your own combat level by more than few levels. And I realllly don't like the idea of being able to store custom enemies in AE. If you only captured the enemies APPEARANCE? I'd be much more willing to talk turkey. If you're capturing an exact clone with access to all the same powers as the mob you're cloning? No way. This is INSANELY overpowered. Say I create custom pets who THEMSELVES are masterminds. My 3 T1 pets now all summon thier OWN pets? Some limitations are needed here.
  10. I was dead serious with the Doctor Who meme. I've never seen any video game with a timeline more deserving of that quote than City of Heroes / Praetoria storylines. Only the Doctor Who show ITSELF tops it and that's a 50 year old franchise centered around a Time Traveller.
  11. Perez Park probably won't change much because so many missions already send you there, and it's prime hunting for certain kind of "kill X foes" for lowbie enemies of that level range. Boomtown though. I think Boomtown is BEGGIN' to get a complete overhaul. I know, I know. Graphic updates, contacts, making it all make sense in terms of a storyline that crosses an entire zone.... that's a tall order. It would take a long, LONG, time to do properly. I get that. But if any zone gets it, Boomtown is a good choice. - it's basically deserted. - only really used for a Numina kill X council, so no worries if you scaled up the zone to be a lvl 30's zone instead of a teens zone. - I think there's a few other "go rescue some kidnapped councilmen" missions that wouldn't be too hard to at least reposition closer to the entrance, or one particular corner, if it would be a problem with a zone rewrite. And really, it's been how many years, and it's still a smoldering ruin? And those buildings at 60 degree angles still havent' finished falling down yet? I would like to see something done with the zone, if at any point the devs want to do something like a Faultline style overhaul.
  12. I can definitely get on board with giving people a better feel for what their getting into before they're committed to a story arc. That said, there are actually fairly few Westin Phipps worthy villainous arcs out there. There are a lot of villain arcs where... quite frankly... I think the writers forgot one key step. "What is my villain's motivation to do this contact's bidding?"] Sure, at low level, when my character is a relative nobody, maybe I'll help out Billie Heck because building some street cred with the Family sounds good. Or help out Mr. Bocor to have a voodoo master owe me a favor. But at high level? Sure. I could help Victor Von Grun do his Mad Science research. .... but why? Why am I helping HIM unlock some way to bring a portion of the devouring earth under HIS control? In what possible way does this further MY villian's machinations? Or if we want to go with the classic themes as you say, how does it help me get payback on people who have wronged me? Similarly, even for Westin Phipps. Okay. Dude's a monster. Kicks puppies for the lulz. Why does my villain care? What do I get out of helping him? Am I at least getting some components for my Moonbase Laser to ransom the world for One Meeeeelion Dollars? That would of course, take a good bit of reworking existing story arcs to feed that. But it is an angle I'd like considered for future redside stories.
  13. I'm sure EVERY Blasty set has some who would love some kind of forearm wear where the blasts actually come out of your forearms, kinda like the PPD Hard Suit and Shells. In particular, I'd also like to have something like this as an option for Beam Rifle or Assault Rifle. I recognize that might feel a little "hey your blast set includes the word 'Rifle', how can you not have a rifle?", but I could totally see a tech-suited (or magic suited, or whatever) character where the beam generator is not a separate piece of hardware, but part of the suit ITSELF. a) I recognize this is a lot of animation work. b) I recognize this is probably not going to make the top 10 priority list anytime soon. But I'd still like it to put it into the Giant Pile of Requests. 🙂
  14. Conceptually, I just like Energy Aura as basically "Force Field Armor". A Bubbler who bubbles HIMSELF, vs the team. However, given the thread the Uun linked, i'm... not exactly hopeful it will make it to tankers.
  15. You can totally do that. From when you make the character until the first GM sees you and says "Really? Don't you know better?"
  16. For my "main" characters Spines/Regen stalker has Tough, but so far not Weave, don't feel the need. Mind/Kin controller doesn't have fighting pool at all. Fire/Fire sent has Tough, doesn't yet have Weave, probably will by 50 though. Also has Manuevers, Tactics, and Assault. Claws/SR scrapper has Tough, doesn't yet have Weave, probably will by 50 though. Invuln/SS Tank doesn't have the fighting pool at all. Does have Manuvers and Tactics though. Plant / Psi Dom doesn't have the fighting pool at all, never felt the need. has the 3% defense IO's in Mind Over Body (epic pool). Storm / Sonic defender doesn't have the fighting pool at all. unlikely to touch it., but will does have Manuevers and Tactics. Beast / Empath MM has Boxing, Kick and Crosspunch to melee right alongside her pets, Might take Tough/Weave if I can fit them by 50. I kinda also want Group Fly and some Leadership toggles though, so power choices are getting tight.
  17. T9 should be renamed to "Release the Hounds!" Ideally with Mr. Burns voice, but I acknowledge that won't happen because copyrights.
  18. To me anyway? The scrapper fieel is Scrapperlock. Just, chomping your teeth onto a spawn and never letting go until it dead, no matter what's trying to beat on you, no matter what's trying to distract you. Picture either a pit bull or a police dog being like "i gots you and I'm not letting go for ANYTHING". Happily prancing away after you've taken down the entire spawn while teammates run back from the hospital, is, I think, optional 🙂
  19. I've never used Titan Weapons, ever. It's on the To-Do list, but.... pretty low on my list. I dunno. Partly it just feels too over-the-top for me. Even since the first time seeing Chernobog with the giant mallet, I was kinda like "really?" Like, the only character concept I can see myself creating for Titan Weapons would be the minimum height anime girl with the giant hammer or giant sword, purely for visual laughs. And my characters tend be more serious than that. I'm not sure I've any character that's essentially there for humor value. I have to be able to take them all seriously as a hero/villian to have much interest in playing them long. Maybe if i make a character that was more like Imperious from Diablo 3 with a weapon-of-light materializing in his hand at will, with celestial wings.
  20. Sleep will not turn off the Sky Raider FF Generators. They will continue to protect their friendlies with it. However, if you Confuse the FF Generator, then it stops protecting them and starts protecting you.
  21. About 40% of my characters use Hasten. The others just don't need it. Of course, I also don't care if my characters have made 100% optimal choices in all cases. I'm fine with being quite effective but slightly under what I could be, if it means staying true to character concept and theme.
  22. There are in fact players who don't do IO's at all. I've met some. It's a complete mind-switch from what I'm used to, but they're out there. Theyre' another reason why I think the idea of making your T1 pets equal to your level (or maybe even +1) instead being lower level than you is a broader based fix vs sharing set bonuses. They'd hit more reliably, hit harder, and take less damage if they had a higher lvl. Whether or not you IO.
  23. What level is your MM, and what level mobs are you fighting? Are you trying to have pets soak an alpha for an entire team, or soloing? Not meaning to critisize or pick apart your build. Just trying to nail down where the problem arises.
  24. If you ever played oldschool EverQuest, Sleep is like Mesmerize was in that game. You park mobs, and as long as no one touches them, they stay parked for a good while Soloing, it's *very* handy. In teams, less so, but still a few use cases you see an ambush coming that you dont' think your team is ready for yet. Sleep them BEFORE they join the fray. Sleep causes most mobs to completely detoggle. Dealing with a mobs with really annoying defenses? Sleep them. Toggles will drop and usally not come back for several seconds, plenty enough to drop them in the meantime. Sleep, like Immobilize, is a type of control that AV's and EB's have no special protection against. Purple Triagles don't matter. You can buy a couple seconds of breathing space, esp if people just went down and you need time to get people rez'd or to resummon henchmen or whatever. Or even if you're just wiping and want a good headstart to run so you don't die as well. To completely bypass a group you don't want to waste time on.
