  1. So, fun fact, you can change your costume while summoning, and the phantoms summoned after you change will take on your new look! Sadly, we can only change costumes every 10 seconds (or close to that) so not exactly what you had in mind =(
  2. Cap au Diable, the base portal is in the university courtyard. Maybe Croatoa as well, but I l'm not 100% sure offhand.
  3. I have an Elec/SR Stalker for this sorta concept. The baddies never see you coming, you can use Lightning Rod to instantly pop into a group of foes, and... well, that's about it. I know that a long wind-up for Assasin Strike doesn't exactly scream "speed", but I just pretend that time is in slo-mo like when Quicksilver is doing his thing in the X-Men movies. He's only level 20-or-30-something, but pretty fun, for the most part!
  4. While on one hand, i hate it when I see people with the same powers as me, otoh I feel the need to advocated for Mind control here. Let me put it this way: Mass Hypnosis. Cast that, put the whole group to sleep, then take your time getting your siphon speed/siphon power/fulcrum shift in nearly complete safety. Then follow up with Terrify, then either Mass Comedy ot Total Domination to get the group back under control. Granted, this doesn't work well in groups, and I beleive corrs/fenders get Mass Hyp if they take the Psi APP, but it's a strat that works well enough for me =)
  5. My experience playing MMs has been... not great. However, between the buffs they recently got and the hands off approach to getting the most out of the auto attacks, I'm heavilly leaning in that direction, thanks to the responses in this thread! I'll try to remember to let y'all know how it goes!
  6. I mean, I kinda feel the same way... but otoh I like knowing that the proc has gone off and is working. Though I'd prefer an indicator more like Time Manipulation's Time Stop and not a distinctively elemental one. As someone who mains a Mind and Illu, the electric cage is tolerable, but I feel like I'd have a harder time with proc visuals if they were a stone cage or an ice block.
  7. If you're simply having trouble logging in, hit the "Account" button up top of the forum here. It will show you your log in name, and you'll be able to change your password. If it's a technical issue with either the game or the launcher, you may need to verify the game files or download HC Launcher (there's a download link around here somewhere...)
  8. I mean, we can already use theads to buy super inspirations, which I think is a good use for them. The problem there, though, is that the content where they'd be the most useful (Hard Mode), ya can't use 'em! Also, there comes a point when you have hundreds of super insps in your e-mail and base and stored in AH and you STILL have a ton of theads... I know the idea of crafting the P2W boosts was fielded and argued against, but I'll +1 that. It would be nice if the player could decide which of thier currencies to spend. It makes sense from a thematic perspective, too. The whole idea of threads is how much you've impressed The Well... impress it enough, you get moar power. A temporary boost isn't completely out of line. Either that, or a new set of temp boosts/temp powers so that the original inf sink is maintained. The overall idea is that things bought with threads should probably be temporary. Enhancements and such are one and done, but temp boosts/inspirations you have to keep restocking (ideally, anyway. I already pointed out how this doesn't always happen).
  9. Hmm... For Sentinel or Blaster, take Hover, and use it to stay out of melee range of your foes. If you take Energy blast, position yourself directly above enemies so that when you hit them, they get knocked back straight down instead of flying all over. They take some time to get back up, which is less time they will spend shooting at you. Which means you take less damage. If you're brave, you can dip into melee range for a moment then fly back up; this will sometimes set the AI to prefer melee attacks and they'll forget to shoot you for a few moments, buying you time to attack without taking fire yourself. Basically, just try some strategy instead of Leeroying into the mobs =)
  10. That's the downside of any buff-heavy support set. Emp, Pain, FF, Fire to a lesser extent... you can't use the best powers on yourself. On the flip side, TA is useful to you all the time... until you need to heal or you run out of end or that -15% acc just isnt cutting it for keeping you from gettining hit =)
  11. I think Enter is actually 4 characters, 8 if you have a space between paragraphs. It's in html, so each line break would be presented internally as [Br], but with pointy brackets instead of square ones. So yeah, you make your bio to the exact count, exit out, go back in and look, and whoopsie, the last couple words are missing!
  12. ...but you just posted. You're still participating Hey look, a haiku!
  13. So occasionally when I play, I'll load in a second account and team with my FF/Psi defender... just for shits and giggles mostly; but some days, I want to do a TF but don't feel like PuGing (even though it'll take me twice as long... bit I technically get twice the rewards, so...). Pop some bubbles, set follow and an auto attack (proc'd out Dominate) and I'm good to go. But I've been starting to wonder if I could be doing something better here? Like, instead of /Psi, what about sonic or rad for the debuffs on their attacks? What about a Corr for more damage on each attack? Heck, maybe another Support set might be better? Hell, maybe have a pocket TANK instead to hold agro while I melt face and don't need shields? So, with the basic understanding that this alt character is supposed to be "Fire and Forget", what would you all reccomend?
  14. So, basically what you're saying is that it's Mender Silos' fault. Lot of that going around.
  15. I think the piece count thing is to give smaller builders an even shot at winning. Because, let's be honest, even though "more" or "bigger" isn't always better, think about all the bases you've seen, either in screen caps, or having visited them. The bigger, more complicated bases are -usually- the visually more impressive ones. If there's a small base that you fondly recall in spite of that general trend, well, that's what makes that smaller base exceptional. I mean, look at the Cosmic Council base on Excel, or the Black Friday club or RATS hideout on Everlasting, or Dacy's Haunted House... and then tell me that those can be improved by taking out half the pieces, or the builders having spent half the time making them. Sure, in some cases builders are just selecting max plot size and filling all the space with surperfulous details, but it should be easy for the judges to differentiate between everything being placed with purpose, and everything being thrown all over just to fill space.
  16. Good point. I didn't specify that I was only considering the clamped 5% hit/miss value, or an enemy with massive acc/tohit buffs or whatever. I should probably re-assess my thesis, then!
  17. In terms of "what's better", I came up with a little thought experiment. Let's say we have an enemy who deals 100 damage on a hit. You can fight him with EITHER a Def-caped toon, or a Res-capped toon. The bad guy will attack 20 times. Let's see how much damage we take. For your def capped toon, if the bad guy attacks 20 times, he will probably land a blow once (based purely on mathematics). So, you've taken 100 damage. After 20 attacks and all the time it takes for him to attack you that many times. If you have the Resistance based toon, the bad guy will hit you 19 times out of 20 attempts (5% chance to miss), but only dealing 10 damage each time. 10x19 =190. Which is almost twice as much damage taken as the def-capped toon. Now, obviously, there's a bit of luck involved. What if in the first scenario, he hits more than once? Or in the second scenario, he misses more than once? Hypotheticals can only predict so much, but the random luck involved in the combat system can sometimes skew things. In "real scenarios", one must also consider debuffs being applied, as is the case with Cimerorians causing defense cascade failure (or hilariously, fire enemies with their sword attacks in fire farms XD). So while the numbers may suggest Defense is better than resistance, it's always good to have something else to fall back on.
  18. I mean, on one hand, I love HC and my knee jerk reaction is to try to counter OP's opinion. Otoh, I don't think I've logged in for more than an hour total in the last month. Part of the problem with any MMO is that they're usually built from the ground up to be addictive, and do the whole carrot and stick routine (in order to retain subscribers, as has been pointed out). But when you take away the stick... you realize just how same-y a lot of the game is, and boredom can set in pretty quick, especially when you can max out a brand new character within a day. But then the devs introduce a new currency that requires time and effort and everyone gets mad >_> So, I dunno. While I disagree that a "faithful vanilla live" server would be more fun to play on, I think HC may have gone a bit too far in the other direction. Maybe something in the middle would have been better, but it's probably too late for that now.
  19. The only thing mids would have done was add a text file to your machine in order to make the macro. It shouldn't prevent CoH from running. Probably coincidence?
  20. Why are you bumping a three year old thread?! You make Baby New Year cry!
  21. "Isn't worth the effort"? What effort? You type /ah, drag 'em into the window, type "10", and then price at 2 million! It takes like 3 seconds! I mean unleas you have like 9999 of 'em and have to do that 999 times just to clear your inventory, I can see how that would be a pain.
  22. Well, think of it this way. When HC was first spun up, how many character items were in everyone's e-mails? And now, 3+ years of everyone opening millions of super packs later, how large is that number now? The list is probably a 500 gigabyte file by now!
