  1. I was on a Penny Yin run at +2 the other day and I couldn't finish that TF soon enough. A total chore complete with a party wipe to Clamor.
  2. I wouldn't know. The game was such a slog even at lower levels that I never made it to endgame before going back to Guild Wars 2. Hence my comparison to running early or mid-level TFs at +2. You're just adding hit points and reducing DPS, its not a challenge it just makes the content longer.
  3. Increasing the difficulty is where I'd go back to playing Guild Wars 2, so no, its not 'exciting and interesting' for everyone. The consensus has been that increasing the difficulty should be optional. There's even a forum poll saying as much. You already have the option to run regular TFs at +2. If few are running them there, then maybe you should ask yourself why few want to. I mean, I'm sorry that Wildstar didn't pan out, but we're not here for y'all to make HC its spiritual successor.
  4. Yup. Farming is great. Everyone having to farm to keep up, not nearly as much.
  5. The fixed-price items that cost, what, 10 mil at most? Really? Really? And y'all have the temerity to call everyone else facetious. Good gravy.
  6. Again, the prices in the AH on pretty much everything have been going down since the patch. Its now more enjoyable today versus a couple months ago for others.
  7. Funny thing is my own tastes have been going in the other direction. I started here with brutes and tanks, now I'm starting to get into controllers. 😄
  8. I took Starwave off the shelf for a costume contest, then immediately joined our super group, then got into RP, then developed into both my RP and crime bustin' main. All since the quarantine started. Odd how these things work, but it worked!
  9. This thread again? I got all four purple sets I needed to finish up my perma-PA build in around a month of casual playing. Prices on the AH have dropped since the patch. Farm, TF, MSR, PI, what have you. Just play the game and you'll get the goods.
  10. "I choose Charles Nelson Reilly!" "X for the win!"
  11. Controllers and those that want to be controllers. Or was that tankers. Blasters? MFin' warshades?
  12. The thing is, City of Heroes hasn't been that game for a long long time. I remember reading the forums back in live, and someone bragged about completing TFs with a team of all TA/A defenders. Tanker Tuesdays have been a thing for years. The game's charm since at least the introduction of IOs has been that you don't need a dedicated tank or healer or defined roles. Play the character you want to play and the game won't hold you back. I'm sorry that's not what you want, but that's what the game is.
  13. A fun night out patrolling with the coalition.
  14. He did it all for the nookie?
  15. Here's Starwave, the brightest illusions controller you'll meet today:
  16. Here's my Rad/StJ if you want some more ideas. She's not softcapped to defense, but I've found that between all her resists, Particle Shielding, and Barrier, she really didn't need it: Hero Plan by Mids' Reborn : Hero Designer 2.6.0.7 https://github.com/ImaginaryDevelopment/imaginary-hero-designer Click this DataLink to open the build! 17. 4300 players a week agree the balance is good, so why?
  18. Ooh. Some interesting choices there, you really shouldn't need the ToE proc thanks to Particle Shiekding. I'll take a look on Mids' when I'm not working later.
  19. Those of us who exemplar a lot? Heck, as an Ill/Sonic main, heals help keep me and my poor phantasm from faceplanting even at 50.
  20. Some men just want to watch the world burn.
  21. I was pricing a Hecatomb recipe a couple days ago, and prices were running at under 10 million. I crafted and got back 22 million, but still. Just in the past day I bought a set of Apoc recipes at under 15 million, save for the proc. The patch is working as intended? Huh. Imagine that.
  22. Dechs sold me on it back on live. Longer explanation: Dark Regen, Soul Transfer, high resists, just enough defense to get you to the cap, and a damage aura. A well built DA is really really hard to send to the hospital.
  23. I love my staff/dark brute to bits. Properly built out, dark is a beast of a defensive set. Between the resists, Dark Regen, and Soul Transfer, you're rarely hitting the hospital or asking for wakeys. That said, I also chose staff for her partially because Form of the Soul would help with the endurance issues during leveling. That also said, its not like there's plenty of other armor sets with endurance issues. Still, there's some room for improvement in DA, or at least discussion. This right here. I don't call her 'Toggle Lass' for nothing. You have seven(!) toggles, two clickies, and zero auto powers. One of the toggles is also your damage aura, so that's even more endurance drain. The other damage aura sets get some endurance mitigation so you're feeling kind of left out here as well. I'm not sure I'd want to change any of these to auto powers, but I do feel that's something worth pointing out as to why everyone feels DA is hard on endurance. Cloak of Fear improved when fear went from 'run away' to cower. Now tanks and brutes don't have to worry about chasing off the guys they want to taunt. I use it on my brute as cowering minions does give you a little bit of mitigation, and it makes a convenient set mule for Siphon Insight. I imagine it might be a little more useful if you buffed the to hit debuff, but I'm playing a brute so what is debuffing even. Oppressive Gloom, meanwhile, is where DA really needs the rework. A mag 2 stun for an HP drain? Even if that might be useful mitigation for scraps and stalkers, they don't have the HP to actually use it. I don't know if Cipher can run the stats, but I'd easily believe this was skipped on like 99% of dark armor builds. Alternatively for Cloak of Fear, I can endorse this. Playing a staff brute with no inherent +to hit outside of Form of the Mind levels, I weep every time the CoT drops my roll to hit down to below freezing. Being able to shrug off their attacks doesn't help when I'm flailing away helplessly back at them.
