  1. For me (Ice/Fire/Fire), no procs. Holds only. Both powers already do decent base damage. With the lower duration of holding blasters now have, it's more essential (to me) to have hold duration for the damage mitigation. With Freeze Ray, Bitter Freeze Ray, and Char - I can perma hold 2 bosses or an EB and destroy them without them touching me (or my teammates). Hold duration will increase your survivability - it's 100% mitigation vs. the 5% defense rule. And as @Tahliah mentioned, it's very useful for stopping those MoG'ing PPs, Fake Nem bubbles, and other pesky bosses / EBs from doing things that only just draws out the fight. ...my .02 inf. 🙂
  2. This is great! Sometimes, simplest is the best. Less can be more! 🙂 Also, in the bio.... did you mean "astrology" as in horoscopes and the like; or did you mean "astronomy" as in planets, stars, and other objects in space? I could see it either way, but the context seems like you meant "astronomy." ???
  3. Water Blast is so great, it pairs with anything. I prefer fighting in melee range with my blasters (even as soloists) and give a second shout out to Water/Martial, and to: /Fire, /Temporal, /Atomic, /Sonic, /Dark, /Mental, and even though I haven't tried yet... /Earth as I think it would be similar in playstyle.
  4. I always take Opp Gloom. Cheap toggle to run and it takes pesky minions out of the fight while I work on bosses and Lts. And if you're bothered by the possible wandering of stunned minions (I am not), the Razzle Dazzle's Chance for Immob proc helps with some of that. I always skip Cloak of Fear. While it looks cool, because it's base accuracy is lower than normal powers and it's such a heavy toggle, it really needs full 6 slots to become mediocre. Generally, if you 6 slot something, it's uber. CoF takes all 6 slots just to get on par and to me, it's a waste. I can use those slots elsewhere.
  5. Grant Cover gives way more Def to your team than Maneuvers. Ideal is to take both. But if you can only do one... you have to decide if you want that little of Def from Maneuvers for yourself, or if you don't need it and you want to give your teammates a bigger buff.

    Earth Blast

It does decent damage (smashing). Fun set. The nuke is ranged AOE - you call a meteor to fall in from the sky. If you're outside and camera is far out enough, you can see it coming from the sky. It's great! lol
  7. And I don't know why i didn't include this outfit in first post, but he does have a more "respectable" look for going out in the evening...
  8. Oh right! I forgot about those. Thanks.
  9. The Sunflare Surfer is the all-time galaxy champion of solar and sun-flare surfing. Growing up on Talos Island, he spent most of his time surfing and hanging at the beach. When he eventually developed his mutant fire powers and tolerance for heat and radiation, he successfully tested himself by surfing the plasma waves and flares of the Earth's sun. He now goes from star to star looking for the biggest waves and flares to ride and competing in the galaxy's sun-surfing tournament circuit. There are very few who can compete with the Sunflare Surfer as many are just not that talented or can't stand the heat--literally! Even though the Sunflare Surfer is also a registered "hero" with Paragon City's Hero Corps, he would rather be on a beach or the nearest star. Lately, he can generally be found off the coast and beaches of the Rogue Isles where the waves are "totally rad, dude!" Oh yeah... there is some villainy to stop there too. (Fire/Fire/Fire Blaster)
  10. Dr. Mason Wescott of Praetoria is a brilliant scientist in his own right, which is why Dr. Raymond Keyes selected him to work closely with him on his nuclear reactor project. Mason was in awe of Dr. Keyes' brilliance--so much so, that Mason became obsessive, over-achieving, and wanted to be just like Dr. Keyes. Mason began to dress like Dr. Keyes, act like him, and try to be like his idol in every way. Mason even hates Neuron like Dr. Keyes. However, instead of loving Praetor Duncan, he despises her for causing Dr. Keyes' fall from Praetorship--how dare she ruin such a brilliant man! But Mason's zealousness caused an accident with one of the reactors and he was over-exposed to gamma rays causing him to burst with nuclear energy. (Whether the accident was truly an accident or intentional, it is still unknown.) Dr. Keyes and others assumed Mason was dead as he was rushed to the hospital. But Mason lived and believed the "accident" was destiny. This was his chance! He stole Dr. Keyes' containment suit technology and built his own armor making modifications for himself. He could now truly be just like Dr. Keyes and Anti-Matter! He will now become: Anti-Meson! Being presumed dead and now jobless, Mason joined Powers Division to be a great protector of Praetoria, if not better than, his idol, Dr. Raymond Keyes aka Anti-Matter. (Rad/Rad Tank)
  11. I think it totally jives with the lore! Great look and name. And good job trying to recreate elements of the KoA uniform. I wished we had access to all their cool costume pieces. 🙂
  12. This is: Ivan Volkov (Psy/Ninja Stalker) Ivan is a Russian FSB asset from the same program as Kiska above sent to hunt her down and either bring her back into the fold, or terminate her.
  13. This is one of my favorite blasters to play - highly survivable and a PBAOE killing machine: Kiska Nikolaevna (DP/Mental) Yekaterina Nikolaevna Pushkareva (aka Kiska) from a small Russian town showed great mental abilities as a child. The FSB took Kiska from her family and put her in an old but still active Cold War Era KGB program loosely translated as “Psy-Knife.” The program used people like Kiska as assets for espionage, counterintelligence, and military applications to combat the modern threats of meta-humans, aliens, and the paranormal. Kiska was subjected to extreme conditions to grow her psychic and parapsychological abilities. They rigorously trained her in martial arts and conventional small arms weaponry. Her loyalty was constantly tested. At age 16, she became one of Russia’s best agents, but secretly plotted revenge for being ripped away from her family. Able to glimpse into the near future, she escaped during one of her first assignments. With the enraged FSB constantly on her trail, she became a mercenary and assassin for hire, but only taking jobs against those who threaten innocents. The Malta Group hired her to eliminate a meta-human villain, but once they found out she too had abilities, they immediately turned on her and hired the Knives of Artemis to help them hunt her down. The KoA however, realized Kiska's potential and tried hard to have her join their ranks. But Kiska refused so they have agreed to take the contract and eliminate her. Still on the run and steps ahead of her pursuers, Kiska enacts revenge on her Russian captors while dealing her own sense of vigilante justice to anyone who oppresses others. She travels the world to topple regimes and corporations as well as assassinate the cruel and evil. She will even intentionally leave clues behind to draw in those chasing her so she can eliminate them as well. It is rumored she has lately been in Paragon City and the Rogue Isles.
  14. that is not the point, null was a HC change and basically a cheat/bypass, the Mission system for those tips was before that from live. Alignment plays into this. If you are a Hero or Villain, you may encounter "undeliverables" because you cannot access the zone they need to be delivered in. As a Vigilante/Rogue, you have access to all zones so you will not encounter this. This is how it was in live too - You either had to drop the "undeliverables" or switch alignment to deliver them (by doing alignment tips missions or now, Null the Gull).
  15. First of all, we're talking about control sets - not using other sets to compensate. But as a controller, your secondary does no (or very little) damage at all. But even as a Mind Control Dominator, most of your damage is coming from your secondary whereas with other control sets, you get extra damage from your primary added onto your secondary. Yes, Mind Control has great control... just very little damage comparatively to other control sets. Other control sets also have great control, but they also provide additional damage (albeit minor) and an opportunity for containment (especially needed for controllers).
  16. Perhaps there was a smaller league of at least 10 people elsewhere in the zone and he spawned near them - and since he spawns as a GM and does TONS of damage, perhaps that smaller league was overwhelmed by him and stacked vengeance and they could not defeat him in the remaining time. ....only thing I can think of as to why that happened.
  17. I also have my kitty-kat toon... Meowsie (Sav/Bio Brute). Meowsie is a human/cat hybrid that can shape-shift into any feline (male or female) depending on the need / what she is fighting. Obviously, the larger cats make her grow in size too. Normal look (smallest size possible)... A Linx... A male Cheetah.... A Leopard.... A Panther... A male Lion... A male White Tiger (largest size possible)... And of course, any shape-shifting feline needs to turn into a Cougar to prey on young cubs... 😄 And even though cats hate water, she needs a swimsuit.... And she obviously needs club wear for dancing at Pocket D or Studio 55....
  18. So many GREAT fox costumes and characters! So here is mine... although she is more humanistic... Cobalt Fox (KM/SR Scrapper)
  19. Old and archaic arguments. Plant and Electric control both get AOE confuse powers AND a pet(s). I'm not trying to say mass confusion sux... I'm trying to highlight that Mind Control is weaker than other control sets damage-wise and needs to be re-evaluated / tweaked.
  20. My vote: Set is fine as is... leave it alone.
  21. Archery/Devices is a great combo and plenty of AOE. Mine is one of my favorite blasters. Archery is a fast set inherently and maxing your recharge rate (if you can) makes it wicked fast and lots of DPS.
  22. I've reported this in another thread somewhere too. I've crashed several times after loading into a zone and then changing costumes shortly after (within ~5secs of loading) - and yes with an emote attached to the change. This is definitely a bug.
  23. And still, not every AT and powerset combo lends itself to good or viable solo building for +4x8. But obviously, we will not agree on this and we are off topic.
  24. Yes, you are correct, that is "soloing." That is the technical definition of the term. However, in practice and in game play, "soloing" takes on another meaning and connotation. Not everyone has an unlimited time to die repeatedly and whittle away through +4x8 group after group in a single mission. While they may be solo -- the only one on the map -- they still may not be able to finish the task in the time they have due to the increase of mob level and size -- thus, they can't really "solo."
  25. Righter there... you said it... "with caveats... and worst combos ever may struggle..." This means you are acknowledging there are sub-optimal powerset combos for soloing +4x8. ...which is what I was stating. This is all about the definition of "soloing." Can any toon with Barrier Destiny stand in front of a mob of +4x8 and survive? Probably. But that's not soloing. You have to be able to defeat them too. And how long does it take to get through that +4x8 group? To me, soloing is not about standing in front of a single group and slaving away at it for a long period of time even if I survive. If it takes too long to get through a reasonable map... that isn't soloing. For example, my Ice/Ice controller... can't kill a thing reasonably fast enough to do anything productive even with IOs and my Incarnates. I am generally wiped to the floor by large upper level groups when solo because partly, the sets and bonuses for my primary and secondary do not lend to "ideal" soloing stats. If I do survive, it takes SO long to kill a single group, and it take SO long (and TONS of awakens) just to get through a map that it's not worth soloing. +2x4 is about all this toon can do for reasonable soloing. And even then, it takes a while at +2. At +4x8, I may survive for a bit using inspires (including my incarnates), but I will fall in the end. If by chance I do survive, I have to exit the map, get more inspires, and trudge along again to the next mob. This isn't "soloing" imo. Yes, I could also gimp my toon and remove all team buffs and take more power pools to only benefit me, but even still, it would take a long time to kill the mobs in a reasonable amount of time for "soloing." ...and then I'm gimped for teaming. So again, not all toons / powerset combos can solo +4x8.
