  1. I wanted to try something akin to a war mace stalker, but since that's not possible, I rolled up a war mace/ninjitsu scrapper. It's a fairly interesting pairing. Not the highest performer by any means, but you get some neat tools and it has a bit of a different feel than other scrappers I have played. EDIT: I do have a Bane Spider VEAT, but it's not quite the feel I wanted, either...
  2. Are you locked-in on any particular aspects of the pic you posted? Is more clothing out of the question? Are the veins and stuff supposed to depict injuries/scars, or just general grime? I'll take a stab at it when I get home later...
  3. For me, it's more about arranging all the power trays, setting up the various attributes I want to monitor, getting the P2W stuff, and testing out the first few powers in AE. I have a "default_binds" file I typically load, but beyond that, it's nearly just "pick up and go". I probably spends more time in the character editor/tailor than the initial play setup, TBH...
  4. Then let me rephrase - your colon cleanse business is on a side road, off another side road, off yet another side road, off that offramp - What relevant sections of Reddit is CoH frequently discussed in, and what is their traffic like? Regardless, all you need do then is to say "Hey, if you like superheroes and videogames, check out CoH:HC - here's their site".
  5. I don't care about their total userbase. I care about the ones that go to sections that may involve CoH. It's like saying your colon cleanse shop will get a lot of business because it's on an offramp...
  6. Is there really this big audience of potential CoH players on reddit, though? I mean, CoH was a niche game when it was live. I'm not hating on CoH one bit, I love the game, but I just can't see that there's this massive untapped audience on reddit, of all places. The forums aren't where you find out about HC - I did a google search when I was feeling nostalgic about CoH a few years ago, and the HC page came up in the search results, so I checked it out. Is CoH being discussed in the comic book sections of Reddit? That's where I think a plug for HC would be best placed, not a separate page/section - and that's my point. Do you like comic books or superheroes? Do you like MMOs, check out forums.homecomingservers.com! It's not about approachability, it's about where you post and how you go about doing it. Are you asking for help, with an understanding that this is an older game, or are you demanding people stop what they are doing and cater to your whims? Have you done an iota of research on CoH and/or checked the various resources already available, or are you coming in blind and making assumptions based upon other games you have played? Even if you have a hot take, you can generally get the help you need, so long as you are willing to take the advice given... That goes both ways, though. If you are "the new guy", then have a little humility and don't expect that everyone will do things the way you want or are used to. "Welcoming" doesn't mean you get a blank check to throw your weight around just because you're new... So why bother conjecturing? Did you say "Here's the link to their support section, I'm sure someone can help you", instead of just guessing? Be part of the solution, if you are so intent on extending beyond the existing site(s), and direct folks to the available resources.
  7. I would, perhaps, like to see 2 of the patron shields be defense based, and 2 resistance based. I do agree with making them all available at the same level as well.
  8. It's the skull! Chicks dig the skull!
  9. "The Reddit scene", sure, but the CoH reddit scene? If you know what CoH is, then you probably found HC already, without the need for Reddit, and if you aren't familiar with CoH, it's pretty unlikely that you'll gain interest from its reddit page vs what a Google search would yield. Do what you like, but the cynic in me sees something like this and screams "someone just wants a place where *they* get to moderate their way and/or conduct things in a manner that they wouldn't be able to get away with on the official forums".
  10. I'm not following how having less content is a draw...
  11. There is some oddity to how items are claimed, as if you sell more than like 20 or so items, the game makes you wait a bit before claiming more, but if you claim like 19, you can immediately go and claim another 19, so I wonder if it's a fairly low amount to keep bandwidth stable or limit simultaneous read-writes of database entries to the AH... *shrugs*
  12. If you can't find or be bothered to go to the official forums, I don't know what you can meaningfully contribute, besides being able to do things that wouldn't be tolerated here...
  13. You'd have to also add some sort of self-heal restriction as well, which I think handicaps the set more than it'd help. Maybe turn MoG into a power that ignores recharge reduction, but is available much more often, or add some absorb to reconstruction or another power. I'm not sure where, exactly it'd fit best, but there are tools at our disposal...
  14. So I've been dipping my toe into blasters more and more lately, and have been loving my fire/devices one. I have and ice/earth which is also quite good, but just can't quite fully grasp the manipulation sets. Obviously the "maintain" powers are fantastic, and they offer different benefits, but I just do not see the allure of taking those melee attacks. I also can't quite understand the "proper" way to use something like reaction time. Anyway, I'd love to hear your advice or tips for better utilizing these sets. Thanks!
  15. That's what gamma boost from radiation armor does - lower health, higher regen, high health, higher recovery. It could be similar to SR's sliding DR buff...
  16. Power sets, while they certainly can bring different things to the table, should be on par with one-another. If they aren't then something is seriously wrong and game balance ceases to be a driving force between such decisions. In your given example of bio armor, for instance, maybe it needs to be dropped down a couple pegs...
  17. I mean, many ATs that have no armor set at all can get by. The question isn't whether regen is "fine" - the question is if it is up to par with other alternatives. I have zero doubt that you can make regen work. I would like it be up there with the likes of willpower or invulnerability. If you find the set fun to play, more power to you, but that isn't necessarily an objective metric to go by... Is bringing a set in line with other such sets power creep, though? Improving something to be on par with alternatives is not necessarily "power creep".
  18. Your outgoing DPS effectively reduces incoming DPS, which goes back to the cycle of your healing outpacing incoming damage. the problem is the nearly every mob at least gets 1 shot off before they die, and therein lies the rub - Even with the extra HP from dull pain, it may not be enough. For me, the trick is how to better equip regen with tools to address that, while staying within the concept of the set...
  19. Maybe there was another city prior to Paragon City, upon whose remains it was built, to make that 1823 date make more sense...
  20. You could ape off of the rebounding/chaining mechanic of powers like trick shot from martial assault and just go with that...
  21. Well, what you define as "a lil - DR" can make or break that difference. That being said, depending upon the specific IOs and their set bonuses, certain ATs or powers can "encroach" on the kinds of buffs/debuffs/mitigation that were previously only available from dedicated powers or sets, so things become muddy...
  22. I should have clarified that I meant if you can out-heal the incoming damage you live, otherwise you die, instead of just using the term "regen". Either way, if you cannot out-mitigate the incoming DPS, you die, be that through regen alone or regen+click heals.
  23. And you are presuming the superior damage ATs *with* the benefit of all the buffs, debuffs, controls, and so on. My point was merely that mediocre damage + buffs/debuffs is on par or better than superior damage in the absence of those things. Perhaps you should be in less of a rush to jump to conclusions regarding the motivations of your interlocutor.
  24. It's because there is no stance in the game for having weapons from 2 different powersets out at once. Even in the case of shields, they had to be handled separately and aren't permitted with some other powersets. You'd need some sort of "keep all weapons drawn" toggle or a pistol + 1-handed sword set...
  25. Interesting. I wonder why they wouldn't just go with a defender, if we're assuming they're focusing mainly on their secondary and the pool powers. I suppose if they were going with a secondary like storm summoning, you could leverage scourge a bit more...
