Is there some kind of superpowered outside heroes (and villains)

There is this notion of "required secondary powers", where characters typically have all the other aspects necessary to use their powers safely, (such as a superspeeder having ligaments and tendons that can withstand the additional forces), but what if your character didn't? As to your example of the person who can control earth, but is otherwise as vulnerable as a regular person - there are a few ways to go about it; You could RP that a sufficient motivation arose in their life, for them to put themselves in harm's way, (maybe a loved one was kidnapped or murdered, maybe there was some other villain-caused disaster that spurred them to action, etc). Another approach is to impose a "hardcore mode" limitation on yourself - play the character conservatively, but if they die, you delete them. I mean, regardless, I'm sure someone who can control the earth would be really helpful in rescue operations or construction... -
I think of sentinels as an attempt to encapsulate resilient ranged attackers, a la Iron Man and War Machine, while taking into consideration game balance, (hence the lower defensive values and damage numbers). Their primary sets have been adjusted to skew them towards single target attacks earlier on and their AoE target caps have been lowered, so it also seems that they are meant to stand "mano a mano" with fewer, more powerful enemies, too.

So, my understanding is that, base and same level as you, enemies have a 50% chance to hit you. No matter what, enemies will always have at least a 5% chance to hit you. Therefore, if you can attain 45% defense, you reduce that "base 50% chance to hit" to only 5%, (which they can never drop below anyway). Now, if you're fighting higher level enemies or ones that apply defense debuffs to you, then going beyond that 45% defense can be quite useful.

I suggested a power pool here, which basically involved your character using various random items that they could reasonably find during their adventures in Paragon City. I imagine a similar pool could be added for things that aren't weapons as well.

Just as an FYI, when you "release" your pets, they basically die, instead of just vanishing. The "dismiss" command makes them go away without leaving a body. Thanks!

I really like mystic flight's 2-in-1 functionality. I'd love to see both teleport and fly revamped to be more attractive.

Well, it'd be hard to replicate specific enemy parts in a recognizable way, (unless we already have their parts available), but perhaps you could get close. For instance, let's say you started out in a fairly generic jumpsuit. You defeat a notable CoT boss, and update your costume to include the CoT mantle/cape thingy. Later you take out a Freakshow boss, and upgrade your character with a pair of cybernetic arms. After that, maybe you've taken down a major member of the Devouring Earth and give yourself plant/organic armor legs. Later still, you take down a big name Malta Operative, and don one of their helmets and nightvision goggles, and so on. Admittedly, though, the resulting costume would look a little mismatched, but you'd have "trophies" representing all your greatest accomplishments...

I had to double check just to be sure, but it strikes me as odd that there isn't, in fact, a "shake hand" or "offer hand to shake" emote at all. Seems weird. *** Sorry for the tangent ***

My current main counts herself among the undead. She's a former soldier who, in her undeath, learned to raise other dead to enforce her will. I'm not sure how she'd fit in with the V:TM clans though, (maybe a mix of Brujah and Giovanni?):

That's an appeal to popularity. I'm sure most kids don't like shots, either. And your point is? In general, I don't want to see people leave, either, but that doesn't mean concepts like balance or not caving in to the masses is an all-or-nothing scenario. Look, it's obvious my opinion on the matter is unpopular. I'm not going to bother replying any more because it's just not worth the energy to do so anymore. I still hold to my position. Cheers!

Hmm.. seems flight in the shadow shard is a bit more specific of a case than, say, a global recharge buff. All characters *do* have a heal - in the form of rest and the regen from health. Now maybe you're talking about a more burst/all in one go type of heal, but even then, it doesn't fall into the same category. The fact that the medicine pool isn't taken as often as hasten demonstrates that. Again, not the same case, and the numbers don't back it up. The cost to benefit ratio of taking or not taking hasten demonstrates that; 1 power pick for a~70% global recharge buff is too good.

It was hyperbole, to demonstrate how you obviously have some semblance of where the line should be drawn with regard to how some powers confer a huge benefit but we shouldn't take things further; You draw that line *after* hasten, and I'm making a case for why it should should be reigned in a bit more.

So we should give everything away for free, yes? Instant level 50s and IOs, right? Maybe we should just let players pick whatever powers they want totally freeform, irrespective of AT. There are obviously some things you support in the name of balance, yet you have a blind spot with regard to hasten...

You're also assuming that they *didn't* just go with the notion that people like power creep, and so just rolled with it, either. Since neither of us can demonstrate the devs' actual intent, perhaps it's irrelevant. CoH:HC is no longer for-profit, so things that improve the overall health of the game should trump those that make a tiny fraction of the game's builds better.
