Building a new character with SO's and other tips
biostem replied to Diantane's topic in General Discussion
No single approach to slotting will work for every character. While end is certainly an issue for everybody, one thing I didn't see was slotting for ACC. IMHO, being able to hit with your powers is more important than just about anything else. Especially in the lower levels, trying to avoid "overflow damage" is important, and you may even want to detoggle some powers as situations change. Somewhat related - an end redux in a click power may serve you better than double-slotting them into toggles. If you have a way of funding your character, that dramatically changes the story - if you can afford a panacea, miracle, numina's, and/or performance shifter, you can basically eliminate the need for other sources of end for certain low-level characters. Tackling this from a different perspective are "meta-powers"; For instance, if you have a defender on your team, and if your level/build permits, taking maneuvers and tactics can significantly improve the performance of you, your teammates, and any pets, (they're still great powers on other ATs, just with lower buff values). -
I second this. Plus, you can select one of the less obvious claws weapon models, so it looks more like you are just kind of punching the enemy.

Cast time? No, but you can decrease it's recharge time so it's available more often...

If you do indeed become a "Girlfriend from Hell", (see below), then that costume can be almost perfectly recreated via the costume creator. If it's a standard Hellion, then you're more limited, as they use different textures/pieces that players cannot get...

Took the Guardsman design to somewhere between a G.I. Joe Crimson Guardsman and a Megaman Robot Master...

City of Data shows it grants a sizable tohit and damage buff, but I couldn't find out the exact proc chance...
-
Thanks! Now I'm curious just how much extra damage it adds... Kind of reminds me how "Reach for the limit" from Martial Combat doesn't list specific values, either...
-
Is that a brute? I rechecked and it appears only to grant extra damage to brutes & stalkers, (at least according to the wiki). But, hey, I'm all for being proven wrong...
-
I think that only applies to scrappers, stalkers, and sentinels...

Well, elec, rad, and SR have self +recharge buffs, which can improve DPS. Fire armor has a sort of secondary build-up like power in fiery embrace. Radiation armor also has a great extra source of recovery, not to mention absorb and regen, in particle shielding - more end means less downtime, after all...

It was in the comics/manga. Similarly, if you watched the Riding Bean anime, (which sort of contained a prototype of Rally), one of the villain's love interest was basically an underage girl as well.

I like to see how the various NPC vs NPC fights turn out, like the PPD vs Freakshow fights in Brickstown. Sometimes it's fun to let the RIPs fight the neutral Skulls in Port Oakes, then finish off the survivors... -

Can you clarify what the "this" is, when you're asking "is this working as intended"? That the NPC defeated the Crey? -

Christmas and other "events" are kitsch for idiots
biostem replied to temnix's topic in General Discussion
Clearly the appropriate behavior would be for them to invite you out to a movie, then afterward, during the walk home, they turn into a werecat... -
I could see some sort of area indicator on a map for where the GM is, but IIRC, having to track them down was supposed to be part of the experience, (not that I necessarily agree with the design decision, just that CoH was created in an era where there a certain amount of ambiguity was intended in these sorts of things).

Wait... I thought this was a suggestion to add a "Bah" and "Humbug" set to the game... -
Maybe turn this into a sort of "US version of Thunderbirds", where Airwolf is more of a "do-anything" vehicle, and you can bring in more members of Archangel's team, on a rotating basis, to help copilot Airwolf and play up their strengths, (perhaps you have a member of "The Agency" who's a forensics expert, another an engineer, another a criminal profiler, etc...)

Not to derail things too much, but this is one of the major revelations I've had regarding another game I frequently play - Fallout 76; Over the years, they have made it easier and easier for 1 single character to do everything - you can swap abilities almost on the fly, and with practically no cost. CoH, (for the better, IMHO), presents you with the difficult decision of selecting an AT, primary, and secondary set that you CANNOT change, and even if it is relatively easy to reach 50, it still requires at least some dedication to fully kit that character out and really turn them into the fully fleshed-out character you think they can become... [/Rant]
