I really tried hard to remember my main from live, but I only recall one of my favorite characters was an Ice themed take on Raiden from Mortal Kombat. So that's what I went with. I'll admit I don't remember the forums at all, but I did read patch notes and things like that. Edit: Oh and I started playing in Issue 0, then played off and on based on whether the content was fun with my gaming friends at the time.

Couldn't tell you - I do know that I can unlock it in less than 5 minutes for free by jumping on the the Beta Shard though. If folks want something, they will earn it. If not, they can play on the Beta shard where everything is free and instant gratification is abound!

That's the highest tier cosmetic reward, not the best example for your response to Luminara. And you know there is a market option to complement the manual earning through content since you've read through this thread and responded. It seems a bit disingenuous to imply otherwise.

I'm a casual player. I went on to the beta server and granted myself 10,000 Prismatic Aether Particles then proceeded to unlock everything, then granted myself some more when I ran out. Took me about 10 minutes to do that. Tried on all the cool tier costumes. Instant gratification and all that. I'm thinking, what's the point beyond vanity? I don't need other people to see my character in an NPC costume and say how awesome I am for wearing an entirely cosmetic reward offered voluntarily with multiple methods to earn. I enjoy the look all on my own and can appreciate the effort it took for the devs to make it happen. And if, for some reason beyond my concern, the need to earn these entirely optional cosmetic rewards on the live shards arose, I'd earn them over time as they were intended to be earned because that's the way this server is ran. These are the rules players play by. I don't play with an ounce of entitlement, so that's probably why I can't empathize with the crazy people I keep seeing in this thread who are just complaining because this is a platform to do so and think they are owed the world. I say go to the beta shard and enjoy the instant gratification there 😆

What is the "certain height" you are referring to? And Irradiated Ground is an Offensive toggle, so if the user is mezzed while that power is toggled, it will suppress (not drop) - that's working as intended.

I'm interested in this outcome as well, since my strategy is to wait it out like I did with the Halloween salvage, and Candy Canes salvage as well. Single purpose, can't spend on anything else. Of course, the devs have mentioned this is a first step towards more npc costume rewards so who knows!

That's fair, players can also purchase the Aether Particles off the Auction House market too. Prices have dropped since release, sitting around 20 million a piece at the moment. And prices could go down or up depending on supply and demand. So if you're not wanting to run content for drops, you could look to bank roll collection of whatever the costumes you're looking to unlock too. And if you've got enough inf to buy it outright, well, then could you email me some inf too 😆

Context is key - there is no forcing players to do anything here. If players want these optional NPC costumes they can earn them. Either through playing the content that generates the Aether drops or through buying the Aethers from the market. Before this, all the costumes offered (except for the rare brand new ones) were only obtained as prizes from HC Team ran events. Now they can be freely earned by anyone. If your character wants to be a Corlax or a Carnival of Shadow member, they can do so accurately. Edit: Apologies to the OP, they asked a specific question about the devs intentions with this content. I don't speak for the devs, so my response is my opinion. I do remember them giving their reasoning, but I'd have to dig through the beta feedback thread to find it.

Oh oh and the hard modes add higher xp and inf for each tier as well! I believe additional 40% at 4 star.
