  1. No you don't, you basically strawmaned my post.
  2. I was less interested in specifics and more in concepts. So what comic book characters that are Support characters that fight in melee. That's why I mentioned Diviner. She is blind but has super tech senses so she seems basically psychic. Her main job is keeping the team apprised of threats. She is a support character. When she fights, she uses martial arts but her incredible sense ability lets her attack and defend at a better level. Destiny is similar but an actual psychic. But she's also geriatric and even less of a fighter.
  3. I mention the Plot specific stuff when it is Plot morso than most characters. So that its really obvious something is happening as a plot device. Canary's voice power when she is doing anything street level is like that. Its spelled right out that she can only use it rarely. No matter what you saw on JLA, lol. Her ability not to get killed by bullets and blasts etc is like that. Her Martial Arts is not. She is clearly stated to be one of the best Martial Artists around. And its her main go to. Nightcrawler's Teleporting Others just in time is like that. His swashbuckling is not Spiderman"s danger sense is not. It is a core concept. He more has a plot weakness in that his life always goes wrong at the wrong time.
  4. The Arrowverse Canary oddly used her voice power more .. well the replacement versions .. even when it was tech rather than meta.
  5. Could just do temp powers based on the mission, lol. Any justice League stuff of course needs the power. Because it allows the writer to explain how she fights metas easier than explaining how the Bat crew does . Birds of Prey stuff .. she screams maybe once a story arc. If that.
  6. Well you could do black canary as a Sonic/Martial blaster i guess. But that really isnt right. She is more of a Street Justice+Martial Arts / Plot Armor Scrapper. With a powered only during plot times voice power. A decent character though IMO.
  7. I didn't say invulnerable, I said Invincible. As in no one can beat him. Except when going for the Worf Effect. Thor doesn't work as an example at all. Decades of Flanderization have made him a Mary Sue. His environmental powers no more makes him a support character than it makes him a blaster. Captain America's team tactics and leadership is basically what the Leadership pool is about. Cap is actually a decent character. His leadership is maybe more useful than anything in COH but that's because Marvel tends to be way over the top (as does DC outside of the Gotham environs) Nightcrawler is more a Swashbuckling Scrapper that gives plot armor to his teammates at the speed of the plot. Black Canary is not a support character. She is a scrapper with a depends on the writer voice power. When in the Gotham type environs she almost never uses it. But you could argue DC is two different styles. The even more over the top than marvel back to the silver age living gods style and the badass normal Gotham environ style .. with some overlapping that sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.
  8. The Veats say hello Actually SOAs can be made fairly tanky, and offer a fair amount of Support. Might fit this niche.
  9. Galaxy Knight's testing suggests MA hits a lot harder than people think. I always loved Storm kick's Animation, but then I played a Martial blaster and I like that one even more >.< would be nice if we could get that as an alternate animation.
  10. Ian Warr? Gimmeh that HNT
  11. The newer primaries have their full AOE damage powers. The older ones do not. So Ninja blade will not do as well as something like Street Justice as a generalist. NB does at least get a decent cone, and the parry power is excellent. And it looks cool as hell, with one of the best Assasin's Strike animations ST damage is very good.
  12. None of those examples work. Captain America and Nightcrawler are much closer to Scrappers. Thor is like Superman, fits no category due to boring invincibleness. But would be more a Tanker defense with Scrapper Offense. A defender would be more like The Invisible Woman. A melee Analog? Marvel's Destiny maybe? Diviner from Justice Machine? (Very similar characters in practice, but neither really fights well) and neither very popular.
  13. Guardian is actually a good name as it compliments the name Sentinel. Placate probably doesn't fit a "Guardian" thematically, unless the Placate worked for the whole team. Or an AOE placate that helped Allies.
  14. Yeah set bonus, uniques and tough and its easy to hit 50% S/L. Plus scaling resists. Then you also have smoke bomb and dart burst can slow them down. Just have to know when to hit them to get a little distance when things get too hot. Now I want to play my widow lol.
  15. I agree with this. The only thing they need I think is damage cap bumped to 500% like other damage classes. Survival is fine considering all they have to offer.
  16. Is it a glaring omission though? Im trying to think of melee support type examples in comics and not thinking of any. I realize defender types are rarer than Blaster/Tank/Scrappers but most Super types that can manipulate force fields and energies in a defensive sense also can attack at range. Not that that is a reason you can't have the AT, it just argues that its not a "glaring omission".

    Quit a TF

Why would the tanker run in? 0.o Uh .. cause? Tank?
  18. thats okay, tanks dont need to do damage.
  19. Get your 2xp booster. Join any team that will invite you. You'll be 50 fairly quickly.
  20. Make them able to call their friends over to help. You know the guys standing 100 feet away pretending there isn't a massive fight going on.
  21. Where is the SMDH button?
  22. Give it some +resist. Or Absorb
  23. Isn't a cleric / druid / etc also a melee support class? Most of these games have very few ranged classes. There usually are not attempts to make Ranged Cleric classes. So we have the inverse of that. Why do we need melee support ATs again?
  24. I build sets as I'm leveling, why wait? A couple kinetic combats, the two 3% def uniques and the two resistance uniques make WP strong from a low level. Also WP needs Tough and Weave, early But any weakness WP has, Regen has also. If anything, its more weakererer.
  25. TBH a Ice tank with a Secondary+Epic heavy on controls would probably be the best "Support" Tank Since the ICE Debuffs are not trivial. Id still build all the Secondary + Epic "Controls" For damage though.
