Please Give Us the Option To Remove This...

Huntman AR/Bane hybrids are really fun. So I would second that idea. And you can do it now. === I imagine they will get around to customization options on Soldier of Arachnos someday. Maybe it will be possible to have some of the powers not trigger the backpack, like the aforementioned Spiderlings or omega bomb or whatever. Seems like trying to change powers that use the crab arms to not use the crab backpack is a much bigger ask though. -
Need both of those to do ST damage with Electric, really.

Hey for what its worth at least Homecoming City of Heroes has a nice heaping helping of Nostalgia already baked in. And people still team up for more than 5 minutes. So I think its not bad at all. -

I just think this is nostalgia for how MMOs used to be, tbh. They aren't like that anymore. We shouldn't expect the developers to de-modernize the game. Seems silly. The current trends are away from immersion, away from player concentrations, towards convenience, towards ability to solo and play casually. This has been going on for 20 years. I mean people don't have to like it. I don't like it either. But this is how it is. -

AE farms actually keep the prices on IOs to a reasonable level, since they have to dump all those recipies that drop. -

Suggestion: All psi-fist or all psi-blade options for psi-melee

Sounds good if you can find animations -
I think myth has prevailed over reality on Double Stacked Rage forever. Your testing is much appreciated.

Ninjitsu might be the closest to this concept. Its defense instead of resist, but it has a lot of these utility powers in some form. A more layered more resisty Nijitsu style set with regen instead of self heal and some different flavor util powers might be fun though. Since i can only think of the one utility style armor set. It would need to be carefully balanced as Steampunkette is suggesting. Protective armor won't work as a name though. It would need to be more stylistic to match within the current framework. Some tech analog to Ninjitsu. There are powers out there you could leverage into this as well from devices or munitions mastery.

I remember Back Alley Brawler made a concerted effort to do some animation improvements sometime after IOs made high DPS builds possible. That was when Martial Arts got some improved animation times and some improved damage. I used to run mostly Martial Arts back then hence my nickname. And of course the newer sets got some actual animation times planned in. So at least for those the slow attacks were also the big hitters by design rather than just by what looked powerful. Also they did that animation normalization for blaster T1 and T2s which helped some sets and hurt others.

The game was waaaaaay different back then. I only meant the idea there was intelligence behind the idea that secondary effects vs overall set damage vs resistance to damage type. There wasn't. They didn't even think animation times would matter. DPA wasn't a thing. Back Alley Brawler admitted as much sometime after IOs made it painfully obvious sets with fast animating attacks chained together were the biggest consideration. Originally an attack did a very specific amount of damage based on its recharge value. An 8s recharge attack that took 2 seconds to animate of Energy damage did exact same as a 8s recharge attack that took 1 second to animate with lethal damage that did the same amount as a 8s recharge attack that took 3 seconds to animate of Cold damage. There's charts of this somewhere. Then the secondary effect was added on. Every set had its gimmicks. The sets that got extra damage were the ones where DOTs were the gimmick. If they had balanced considering type from the get go ../ Capt PH wouldn't likely need to look at base resistances ...

Most of the armors aren't specific to the extent of materials used, etc. So you could conceivably have Invul WP Energy Aura etc That are all Tech Body Suits ala batman/iron man. I think things are left roughly vague to accommodate multiple concepts

The set described is sort of like a resisty version of ninjitsu without stealth.
-
Think it was supposed to be like Caltrops.

I just meant that sets are not currently adjusted at all with regard to resistance. Should they be? Ok? Maybe. I think that any sort of synergy of control effects was for thematic reasons. Any correlation with more resisted damage types was coincidental. Smashing for example gets stun and kds, Darkness makes you harder to hit, Cold slows you down, and so on. A couple of smashing sets did get boosted up in damage (WM and MA) but in general I don't think resist was planned for. People may take the hodge podge of effects and dps and ascribe some intelligence behind it .. But then again song writers are often amused by the supposed deep meaning people read into their lyrics. "I was just singing about a Walrus, it didn't mean anything."

Is this with barrier? My build is more like 50 S/L def and resist. And I did pick a lot of resist bonuses. In combat. Since Hide changes.

With the upcoming tanker changes, tanker might be a viable choice.

Scrapper Melee Primary Testing: "Standard" environment
Haijinx replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in Scrapper
Well you could run say 3 minutes .. then hit it. SR would suddenly become softcapped to everything with great end recovery and huge run speed buff. Invul with unstoppable up could herd perhaps. -
What changes are needed to make my Kat/SR more surviveable?

If I'm reading this right, you aren't using both +3% def uniques? -

Depends on the build I guess. Both of those have much stronger T9s than WP. Which will matter a lot on SOs. As long as you timed it well ..
