  1. Okay and these options provide more rewards? Or some reason to play them? Unfortunately the traditional reason in MMOs -more xp- is ruined in COH. Id suggest that +3 isn't really hard enough to merit much in the way of added reward.
  2. pfft 1st Edition got DOUBLE Con Bonus and DOUBLE Dex Bonus And best 3 of 9 Dice for STR, 8 for Con and 7 for dex Still realistically at higher level they were gimped. Arse Handed ye olde.

  4. Blasters have double recharge attacks though on most of their secondaries, with correspondly higher starting damage For example Blaster recharge on Bone Smasher 14 seconds, Brute 8 So you aren't multiplying by the same amount
  5. Fire/EM is what I'm currently contemplating. I've done Fire/Martial and Ener/EM on homecoming. Fire really is hard to beat as a blast set.

  7. Sort of. But its not really built in. If you max difficulty, the baddies should STOMP people with basic builds. At least that's how it seems to me. In ye olde Dungeons and Dragons, if you just ignored magic weapons and armor, you would get ye olde buttocks handed to you.

I just want them to be honest that the player side power creep and resulting easiness is real. ===== If we were actually to look at it as an issue (haha), maybe the place to look is the overly simplistic difficulty slider system. All you get is higher level or equal to x heroes. Why? Why can't +4 add leadership powers to the LTs and simulated IO bonuses to the bosses?
  9. To be fair, although I think arcane is being confrontational here. It feels a lot like confirmation bias when I read those posts also. Frankly a lot of the keep things moar easy arguements seem very closed minded.

  11. Before the shutdown IOs were much more expensive. Your teammates in this scenario were not demigawds stomping elite bosses underfoot. They were merely much better than your SO only ostriches.
  12. This sums it up. In most games the team and league level raid monsters drop special stuff. Thus they can be made extremely hard and it just seems to fit.
  13. Multiple possible explanations. But I'll go with the easy one. Just because you might have only a SO build, that doesn't mean your teammates will.

  15. The valuable dev time canard seems like a cop out to be honest. It takes less than a week to reach max level just casually pugging it. So of course no dev time should ever be spent on high level balance. I fully expect it never to be addressed but the rationalizations need to get more creative.

  17. Game is super easy. No indication at all that situation will ever change. Yet there is a definite force of easiness guardians ready to fite off those who say its too easy. Think they should chill. This isn't an active game design discussion. Its a post mortem.

Yeah I see this as three different "problems" 1 - For general use, when you die and Hospital or are exemplared or whatever - there is the inconvenience factor 2 - Combat detoggling from END issues or dying in combat - there is an actual combat factor 3 - For Khelds it basically makes shapeshifting hell, and a whole series of their human form powers mostly useless in multiform builds I see the #3 issue as something that should be definitely addressed, the other two as maybes.

  21. UO was much trickier than COH because they stomped down HARD on power creep. You only got 700 points for a max level character. Which you had to not only grind up, but also turn off alternative advancement. And when you got killed you lost you stuff.
  22. There are advocates of not only balancing the game around SOs, But that at level 50 its unreasonable to design thing for that SO player to solo at +0 difficulty. Instead they think SO players should be able to crank up the difficulty settings. IMO a team of SO only peeps should get STOMPED at +4×8
  23. Harder to understand than some perhaps. Much easier to understand than others. Compared to Anarchy Online? COH is pretty basic.
