  1. Hey all! So, I want another MM, and am having trouble trying to decide. Demon/Nature Demon/EA Beast/Nature Maybe Robots/something I tend to lean towards a primary that has a "mule" power to slot the Pet IOs (+defense, + resist). This is one reason why I steer away from Bots, even though everyone talks about how much AoE damage they do. Between Demon/ Nature and Demon/EA, which do you think is the most survivable, and could take down an AV easier? I do like the Concept of Beasts, and like their crit potential. However, I'd have to figure out slotting to fit in the unique pet IOs, which could cut into their accy/dam/end reduction. I think Nature would be a good pairing...they already have decent defense, and Nature would back them up with some resists and heals. Also, they seem to have decent defense, and Nature would give them some pretty good resists, which, in theory, would make them pretty survivable and sturdy. If I go with Bots, I'm not sure what to pair them with. I don't want FF, traps, or Sonic as I think those sets are a little boring...at least to me. So, what's recommended by all you MM Gurus?
  2. Stone armor is just...cheating I believe. I did NOT take Granite, and here's my (in-game) stats: DEFENSE S/L 51.1% F/C 45.05% E/N.E 48.07% PSI 47.05% Toxic 12.94% RESISTS S/L 54.48% F/C 72.25% E/N.E 25.56% PSI 8% Toxic 42.69% I say "in game" stats because when I played in Mids, it had my Psi defense at like 47% with just 2 slots in Minerals. IN GAME, with 2 slots in Minerals, my Psi defense was 42% (IIRC). So, I respecced, added a 3rd slot to Minerals, to get it over the soft cap. With NO Accolades/Temps/Incarnates/etc etc my Max HP is 1830.97 Regen Rate (obviously with Rooted on) 42.61 hp/sec With Earth's Embrace my max HP is 2573.70 Regen rate is 59.89 hp/sec Recovery Rate is 3.92 end/sec. DB feels....well, it does feel weak a little. There is NO comparison between DB and Rad. That's a very unfair comparison. HOWEVER, DB is flashy. It's stylish, it's quick, and has a good range. It almost feels like Staff....you hit a LOT of baddies around you, you see LOTS of DoTs, but it takes a while to whittle them down. I feel like it's advantage is the quick recharge, quick attacks, and AoE. Blinding Feint is nice. My rotation was BF>Sweeping Strike>1000 Cuts>BF>Sweeping Strike<Nimble Slash>Ablating Strike<Typhoon's Edge repeat. I'm not one that researches and adds up animation time, damage, damage per activation, etc etc. I take powers that I want/like/need for IOs and make the most of it. This combo, while probably isn't the absolute "best", works for me. It just....flows right. Blinding Feint gives you a 10% To hit bonus and a 30% damage boost for 10 seconds. While it doesn't sound like much, every little bit helps. By using the above attack chain, I was using the "Weaken" combo, which lowers enemies' To Hit (by 10%) and their Defense (by same amount...if I'm wrong on these values please correct me). I never had a problem with my accuracy, and like I said, this attack chain just flowed perfectly. I had a concept for this toon, and it works. Is it the most damaging? No. Is it fun? Yep.     Anyone care to share how to exactly slot Invuln to make it such a great tank or brute? I've fiddled in mids, and can't seem to get all resists capped.
  4. I've made a DB/Stone brute. For one, I've never done DB, and Two, I had a concept. I'm a little discouraged because you're basically saying it's weak. Oh well, I will level and IO this thing out, bc, like I said, I had a concept and want it to work I also have not played Savage. That set is next on my list, but not sure I'll pair it with Stone (bc of the DB/Stone). Maybe Energy Aura. I'll have to ponder... But first, gotta get the DB/Stone done first.
  5. If "theme" is important, and you don't necessarily want Ice Armor, you could roll Shield and take the ice elemental shield. That's what I did...Shield/Ice Melee.
  6. Ice is the undisputed king of being an aggro magnet. Nobody will steal your aggro. Noone. Period. Chilling Embrace (which pulses twice as much as any other damage aura) and Icicles make SURE you get,and keep, all the aggro. Ice is defense. Depending on your secondary, you *might* be able to squeeze enough Winter Sets to cap your Fire defenses. The resists are so so. But you usually won't get hit. And when you do, you have a nice heal. Energy absorption adds defense and end, so endurance shouldn't be a problem. I say go for it. I enjoyed my Ice tank.
  7. Usually MMs that take Provoke keep their pets in bodyguard. By doing so, they will Provoke(aka Taunt) and try to get the aggro off of pets. Being 8n bodyguard mode, the damage I'd spread out between you and ALL your pets...thus helping you and your pets survive. And depending on your secondary and what IO bonuses you chased, it's possible for you to have capped or near capped defenses, and some resist. So whatever damage actually hits you, after factoring in your defense and resistance, that's what is spread out between you and your pets.
  8. Beasts comparable to mercs damage? Absolutely not. On my Beast/Time, I see crits constantly. I never use Fortify Pack. Once you use it, your pets lose the potential to crit. Throwing in those crits, and Beasts do great damage (tho mainly single target). I can't remember how I have mine slotted. I sure do wish every primary had a "mule" power to slot the unique pet IOs. Necro,Thugs, and Demons can...why not the others?
  9. I threw this one together fairly quick. Hits soft capped Defenses to S/L/E/NE/F/C/Psi. One stack of the Tanker +Resist AO gives you 67% Resist S/L, capped F/C resists (don't even need the AO for this), 36.45% E/NE resists, 70.97% Toxic, and 27.95% Psi Resist. 2302 HP, which bumps up to 3215 with Earth's Embrace. It'll regen 50.25 HP/Sec, which with EE active it jumps to 70.16 HP/Sec. Those stats are similar to my Stone/Staff tank, which so far hasn't had any trouble (even in +4/x8 fire farms).   10. In case you didn't know, you can slot the Panacea:Chance for HP/End in Suppress Pain, and it will affect everyone in its radius. I bet it's INSANE if a few /Pain MMs did this and teamed.
  11. If you like beast/cold, keep playing it. Later on, it becomes extremely potent. Beasts have innate defenses, which your shields only push them that much higher. It can be a struggle to fit them in,but slotting the 2 pet +defense IOs will help also. I took bonfire as my epic power pick. Slotted the overwhelming force kb>kd in it. That helped out quite a bit also for damage mitigation. I never actually use Fortify Pack. While it's active, your pets lose their crit chances. I put a LotG:def/global recharge in it and call it a day. I've found that solo, MMs are "ok", but really shine on teams.
  12. @Force Redux, I have mercs/storm, mercs/ff, and mercs/pain. All 3 are good. FF is safe, but it's just so boring at times. ust rolled mercs/Electric so we'll see how it goes. Never really did anything /Nature.
  13. Great testing and thanks! I love my Mercs/Pain and my Beast/Time. I also have a Thugs/Cold. I do wish every primary had a "mule" like Thugs and Demons have. It would help out so much. Lately I've been curious on what sets would have the best debuffing potential, and I'm leaning towards Necro/Dark. Still, I'll continue to play my Mercs.
  14. Thanks. I took him into one of the Comic Con AE Farms, and can just stand there and walk away, do laundry, grab a drink, smoke, and come back. Full health, full end, and mobs littered all around his feet. The slows stacking are kinda nice, and of course the damage aura is great.

  16. I was VERY tempted to go Staff for Guarded Spin and the extra 13% Resist from a combo level 3 Sky Splitter. Buy I have like 5 Staffers already. Still, I may go ahead and make one anyway.
  17. Ya, I have over 55% defense to s/l/f/c/e/ne/psi. It's awesome.
  18. Electric melee is pretty good on a tank. Tanks can really leverage the AoE, so it seems like you're hitting everything near you. I can't remember if it's chain lightning or Jacob's ladder, but if you slot a proc in it, it has a chance to proc on everyone, which is nice. I put the winter set ,chance for hold, in it and it procs regularly. Thunderstrike and lightning rod are great. The set just "feels" strong, and sounds great. The actual single target damage feels lackluster. But, you're taking down minions and leits in groups. I'm enjoying my stone/spines. Actually farming with it. I think stone/ice would be nice too.
  19. Just finished slotting my stone/spines last night . It is ABSURD! Didn't take granite (might rework it later to fit it in). As of now, I don't even see why I need granite. It's extremely tough as is.
  20. Just as the title says...what Lore pets do you take and why? I know it's stupid, but I like Storm Elementals because they're so pretty to look at. On my WP/Staff I took the robotic drones, but am thinking about switching over to Clockwork. I think the added damage, the -Def, plus the added Defense and heal would benefit my WP/Staff a bit more. Just curious to know what, and WHY, you take the Lore Pets that you chose.
  21. Same build I use on mine, except I took Hasten instead of Taunt, and took CJ/SJ instead of Hover/Fly. It's a sturdy build. Hope it at least gives you some ideas.

  23. So, every AT, and every team, will die at least once? I've been trying to build a tank to survive anything....and based on what you're saying, along with what I've heard from others, it's pretty much absurd to think a tank will survive.
  24. I apparently am not smart enough to "plug the new numbers into Mids". Maybe there will be an update for mids to include all the new changes from this new Issue/Page.
  25. I'll go against the grain and say WP/Staff. Leveling is a joy and easy. Ultimately you can get extremely high rwgen numbers and max HP, never run out of end, and hit soft capped F/C/E/NE defenses with capped S/L resists. And if you use Sky Splitter with 3 stacks of perfection, that adds another 13% to your resists. Since it's easy to keep perma, coupled with the tanker ATO +RESIST, you can have respectable resists. It's a great combo. Staff,IMO, is just a fun set. I could also see WP/DM being great as well.
