What kind of snacks do you eat while playing?
roleki replied to Glacier Peak's topic in General Discussion
I go through snack epochs. Right now we're in the 7th Age of Pretzel Rods but we're due to transition to the 5th Age of Slightly Overbaked Oyster Crackers. Have to do dustless snacks free of adornment because I alternate between playing vidya games and bass/guitar; I hate crumb gum more than I like flavor variants. -
Now for the other side of the coin: what causes Domination to drop? I have Domination on auto, and I've been in missions/events clicking like mad, maybe have domination up for 10/15 minutes straight of attacking and whatnot, then suddenly, poof, Domination gone. What gives there?

I have one that apes a certain mustachioed Master of the Mystic Arts, but I did it cool, using the costume from the live-action Dr. Strange from back in the 70s. ETA: It's perfect because someone would have to have seen it to KNOW.

Hah! They were extremely rare on Live, but in a world where almost nobody had fully-slotted IO sets and T1 Incarnates (let alone T4), an Ice/TA could save even the most oblivious PuG from ignominious defeat. And then along comes HC, buffs both sides of the build and inadvertently turns Ice/TA into a bit of a Cadillac. It's fun just to watch the mob AI freak out when the various effects start piling on. Jog in place? Slug your buddy? Quake in fear? Flop on the ground?

I'm down for Watchmen: Hero Corps Edition, so long as Statesman doesn't get to be the Adrian Veidt of this scenario.

Can confirm, both Hamidon and Lusca hit harder than a Fire/TA Corruptor, hence the qualifier.

I'm always happy to talk TA, it's been a favorite set of mine since the minute I got ahold of it back on Live; I actually soloed an Ice/TA controller to 50, back when the only way I could light up OSA was with Taser Dart, and my pet would run in fright from the lit slick. It was worth the effort to bring all that soft control to bear on a given mob. As far as Glue Arrow goes, it's one of the more important arrows on Corruptors and Defenders, who usually don't have another method of keeping mobs from scattering. So on those types of characters, I usually open with Flash Arrow, hover above the mob, drop Glue Arrow to notify them I'm there, flit around a bit to shepherd the aggro'd runners back to the center, and begin sawing away with debuffs and AoEs. Most Controllers would just drop an AoE immob in that situation, whereas MMs likely already have scattering mobs by the time they're in range for Glue Arrow, unless they're the kind of MM that lead from in front and bother with all the commands to keep their nerds from running amok.

I'm not saying EMP Arrow is bad, and it's great that you've found a use for it, but come on, it's not like your TA characters were out there floundering around waiting for EMP Arrow to come along and save the build. As a T9, it's no Fulcrum Shift, but it's no Time Bomb either. It's Moment of Glory, tops. I submit that if you're cutting ANY TA power besides EMP Arrow, then yeah, you'll probably need EMP Arrow. TA was a perfectly cromulent set before HC came and gave it a belly rub, but it will never perform to its full capability for people who skip arrows. Take Flash Arrow for example - people skip that all the time, in many cases probably so they can shoe-horn Maneuvers into their build. The thing is, in the combat math particular to this game, -ToHit is essentially +Def(All) given that Defense and ToHit modifiers affect the same variable in the hit check equation. It's not 1:1 because of resistance and whatnot, but half of Flash Arrow's -ToHit is... irresistable(?) so you COULD read Flash Arrow as "Ranged (Targeted AoE) Ally +5.625 Def(All) for 60s" and in that light, it seems kind of silly to skip it. While not as drastic, Glue Arrow, PGA, and Acid Arrow all play a significant role in how the set performs, and I would never skip any of them. It seems a pain, but really CoD should cover a good 90% of what you're looking for. Just, don't rely on numbers from Mids. It's a great tool, but unless you have it *just so* the numbers will always be off a bit.

Try exCiting Super Group mode!

While there's nothing in-game to indicate the "Detailed Info" of a power could be incorrect, it's probably a good rule-of-thumb to use CoD to verify the exact effects and abilities of a given power. It's inconvenient and sometimes a convoluted process to follow all the various links, but it's a lot more reliable a source than the in-game reference. That said, in my opinion EMP Arrow is better on paper than in practice; if you make it to a scenario where it's worth actually using EMP Arrow, you likely don't need to use it. ETA: Tip of the cap to whatever code monkey invented the word 'adversively' here.

Anything Dark/X/Dark is going to be killer; I prefer Dark/Rad/Dark (mostly because the business end of Rad is so straightforward and doesnt require a lot of slotting) but /Dark, /Poison, and /Cold are all really good platforms. I dunno, Corruptors are just about my favorite things these days.
-
If you're talking ranged-only with survival tools and all that stuff to get you from 1-50 in one piece, you can't do much better than Ice/Time; with the buffs and the right build, that should be largely bulletproof. That said, if melting things from afar is your primary aim, I've not seen anything on two legs that beats a Fire/TA Corruptor, and that's not for a lack of trying on my part.

Behold the power of the -Jump debuff.

Let's ignore Disney/Marvel/Panderverse

Have any of you ever dealt with nonprofit overlords? They're too busy sniffing each other's asses to actually get anything done, and if you expect to be fairly compensated for work done on their behalf, they give you moon eyes and start rubbing their bellies to give the impression they're starving. Give me corporate overlords six days a week and twice on Sunday. -
Or, everyone could tuck away their delicate sensibilities, accept that not everything in life can be exactly as we want it to be, and trudge forward like we always have despite the crippling unfairness of sometimes having to suffer only 1.98x XP.

Fear Deserves its own Purple/Very Rare Set
roleki replied to Mystoc's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
It always seemed weird to me that there wasn't a mez equivalent to Overwhelming Force, it would be nice to get something like that. What's also weird: Entomb. What's the rationale behind a random Hold set? -
Well, that sucks, would have liked to have got another weekend out of it. Bring on the speed run ITFs I guess. Whoo-fucking-hoo.

IIRC, that was the issue they implemented PhysX into the game (I was one of the 6 people who bought a PhysX card) and I can't even tell you how much time I spent just watching leaves swirl around my Singularity. It was pretty awesome.

Initially thumbed-down for invoking She Who Should Not Be Invoked Ever Under Any Circumstances, upgraded to thumbs' left because that shit is inevitable anyway, first sighting might as well be on Halloween given the effect She has on me.

Whoever wrote that article shares my affinity for Croatoa, a zone that is absolutely perfect except that it makes no sense for there to be a tram line that takes you to the edge of spookytown, other than to force a fresh 24/25 to walk that main thoroughfare to get ambushed by Fir Bolg and random spirits.

I have to be honest, lately I have wondered what the devs were up to, because it HAS been a while, but I was thinking of it more from a standpoint of "I wonder what they're working on" than "why hasn't there been an update???" I think we got spoiled by what the dev team was able to accomplish during the spaghetti time that was March 2020 through ~August 2022 or so. Cut them some slack!

I love SJ, I think it's the most super-feeling travel power in the game, but once I started using Speed of Sound/Jaunt, there was no going back. That gives me a travel power that's useful indoors and outdoors, AND a teleport that I can macro to send me to a specific target, so I can land on the AV right away or materialize next to the teammate who needs PBAoE healing or whatever, or sit back patiently while everyone else figures out the blue cave map, then TP to THEIR side, affording me the appearance that I can somehow navigate those confounding bastards.

Leechers are kind of annoying just in basic theory, but in the grand scheme of things, they're not causing THAT much harm, other than contributing somewhat to the lag that accompanies the ToT shenanigans. I suppose they *do* leech XP/rewards, but they have to be doing damage to do that, and if they're doing damage, they're helping to clear mobs in some way, so it's not like they're door-sitting or what have you. I tell myself that their presence is distracting mobs from beating on my exemplar'd (??) friends, and that I'd just be throwing Alkaloid out in every direction instead of knocking on doors and flooring what comes out of them. That said, when one of their pets was caught dangling in an awning and preventing anyone from clicking one of the ToT doors, I kind of wanted to go spend a few minutes on a high-KB build, clearing mobs out of the middle to deny them even a couple ticks of XP. Or get both my Geav/Darks and just start Black Hole/Dimension Shifting various areas to deny them the targets. But at the end of the day, I just want to click on doors and occasionally warp out to stomp zombies/GMs/Banners. At this point, the leechers are just part of the experience.
