Water Blast combos... Give me the mechanics
Shred Monkey replied to Shred Monkey's topic in General Discussion
What I'm seeing with water is this: aqua bolt (0) > dehydrate (1) > aqua bolt (2) > waterjet (3) > aqua bolt (0) > dehydrate (1) > aqua bolt (2) ..... at this point I could click waterjet again, but it doesn't have an orange circle, HOWEVER, Dehydrate and Water Burst do have orange circles. So I have 3 stacks of tidal focus, but the enhanced waterjet isn't an option. The sum of aquabolt>dehydrate>aquabolt is 4.488 so it's less that 5 between uses of level 3 water jet, which makes me think that's where the issue is. I'm gonna do some more testing. I can put hydro blast in there and be just over 5 seconds. I'll post here if I learn something. -
I think I understand most of how these work. With each increasing level of the attack does more damage or has a shorter activation time, or does more heal...etc.... then at level 3 the combo consumers do something special. My observation is that when use the 3rd level combo there appears to be a time limit on how soon that combo can be used again... you can use a different one as soon as charged, but not that same one. Does anyone know the minimum time you have to wait before repeating the same combo? (I'm guessing 5 seconds, like dual blades, but I'd hate to plan a whole build based on that and then find out it's 10 seconds). Also, if anyone just has a link to full descriptions of mechanics with numbers of these powers, that'd be great.

The Thanos Theory *contains spoilers*
Shred Monkey replied to HNBC's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
Probably could do better given more time but... (R) eality - Reality Stone (O) rb - Power Stone (C) abesa (Spanish for head) of Vision - Mind Stone (K) ill - (someone you love) - Soul Stone (E) ye of Agamatto - Time Stone (T) esseract - Space Stone Clearly we need to keep an eye on "the Rabbit." -
The thing I find funniest about that is that his belly is enlarged from the Ryu model. It's not just a head swap.

Actually, they ARE heroes and villians... they're just trying to keep their secret identity a secret. But don't ask me why that's still important.

I like this one: Shin Breaker > Spinning Strike > Assassin's Strike > Crushing Uppercut > repeat It's has a more reasonable recharge level, though it is still high. I can put the hide proc in assassin's strike where I want it and have it trigger for crushing uppercut. And spinning strike is a decent AoE attack that I'm going to take anyway. I'm also able to do some decent proc-monster slotting with this chain since 3 of the attacks have high base recharge values.

This is my recommendation as well, except I take typoon's edge instead of 1K cuts. You don't need either, but between the 2, I just like the 360 degree targeting of Typhoon's Edge. You'll also be forced to pick up something at level 1. If you take nimble slice (and have typhoons edge) you can then also have the Empower and Weaken combos which you can use when you exemplar down to lower levels.

Saw this thread and thought... man... that's a great idea. I'd love to actually be able to visit some of these places. I thought you base builder types might like a new project.

Blaster Primary Comparison: Standard Environment Testing
Shred Monkey replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in Blaster
I think for this forum we should weight the primaries based first on damage... and second, on more damage. -
Blaster Primary Comparison: Standard Environment Testing
Shred Monkey replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in Blaster
Nice work. But i'm a bit confused. What does this word mean? .... *S*A*F*E*T*Y* .... It sounds like something that belongs in the defender forum. -
Yeah.. I monitor 4 of the resistance stats. They're all cap'd without fighting, so the tanker proc must be putting over cap by more than I'm being debuffed because I never see it. I fight longbow all the time in tip missions and haven't noticed a debuff. By far the most dangerous thing I face is defense debuffs. My melee and smash/lethal are at soft cap'd defense, so if defense debuffs come into play and drop me to -50 defense that can increase the incoming damage by over 10x (<5-11 hitrolls needed to <95 hitrolls needed). Generally either energize or rebirth give me the regen to handle those moments until I kill the debuffer. I use my justice incarnate power to eliminate a bunch of incoming damage as another option. I tried ageless for the debuff resists, and it works against defense debuffs. But since Rebirth basically covers the same threats plus helps with other threats like enemies with +tohit, I run that instead. (this is all on my elec/db tank, btw)

Why so many Ancillary/Ppatron pools
Shred Monkey replied to TIto Vendetta's topic in General Discussion
I don't remember all the plots of the patron pools. But in the ones I do recall, you're using badguy information to find and take out another badguy. It's like undercover hero work. I think running a Ms Lib TF can cover you to take out any of the badguys you pretended to follow and work with while undercover. -
My suggestion... slot for ranged defense instead. They can't mezz you if they can't hit you.

I've been making my toons wear masks these days. Just seems proper. This thread is giving me the geebeez seeing all these uncovered faces.

Man, this game has changed from what I remember
Shred Monkey replied to ranster44's topic in General Discussion
I not only take taunt... I slot it for range because that's what I use it for most... to pull something that is out of range of my melee attacks. -
Cloak of darkness with visible weapons
Shred Monkey replied to MrCuddles's topic in General Discussion
Not an answer to your question... but this reminds me of back in the day when I built an MA/Dark scrapper with the idea that the attacks would be these flashing "bursts" of color coming form a vaguely formed cloud. Visually it was cool, but sadly the toon's performance was lacking. -
What Combat Attributes do you monitor?
Shred Monkey replied to Yomo Kimyata's topic in General Discussion
I think it's mostly because it's annoying to look up by normal means. -

PSST... you're doing this wrong. You're supposed to do it like this. Ahem... well, on my tank I monitor these: -
Natural Origin isn't just for sword/SR scrappers
Shred Monkey replied to cohRock's topic in General Discussion
My character's backstories almost always flush out after I create them and play them a while. Often creating new costumes and renaming them later. Because of this I usually default to natural origin for all of them since that's pretty generic. I do wish we could change origin of our toons, though. -
Flying through and missing content, zones, arcs etc.
Shred Monkey replied to Chequers's topic in General Discussion
It's ok to tell Twinshot, or any contact, to go suck an egg so that you can move on to another contact of your choosing. Superheros do it all the time. Heck, for some on-screen heroes it's one of their defining personality attributes. (Wolverine's cameo in X-Men First Class, Jessica Jones in basically every episode). Not to mention that if you're like most of us, by the time you're done with the twinshot arc, you're considering being a villain because every hero you've met makes you want to punch them in the face.
