A Guide to Jerk Hacking on the Beta Server
Doc_Scorpion replied to Jimmy's topic in Open Beta Testing
Shouldn't the link in the first post be updated to the new popmenu thread? -

I was about to post the very same example... Adding poker tables literally killed my crew (supergroup). We went from often having 20+ crewmembers out sailing the seas (often on ships with nothing but our crew and maybe some flaggies) to endless nights where there's be 20+ at the poker tables and 2-3 of us wanting to sail.

QoL Crafting/Auction House and End Game ideas.
Doc_Scorpion replied to eldriyth's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
/jranger The auction house has a search function, and recipes have a "search for salvage needed" function. Don't hoard, especially not commons and uncommons. -
If you dig back into the posts from the early days... There was a lot of load on the earliest servers (low performance/inexpensive hosting plans?), and they were faced with a choice between opening more or having players stuck in queues forever and suffering performance issues once they did get to log in. And once a shard is open, telling players they have to find a new home because their old one is going dark isn't going to make you popular. (And name collisions are a thing.) It's a classic rock-and-a-hard-place dilemma and there are no easy solutions.

Where did the "Lock Powers in Tray" option go?
Doc_Scorpion replied to ZacKing's topic in Help & Support
Right click on the tray. -
You can enter it into Notepad and then used CTRL-C and CTRL-V to cut 'n paste it from Notepad to City Of Heroes.

The cycle ending, and beginning again...?

There isn't many of them, granted... But judging by the forums and Reddit, there is a s-ll-ooo-wwww trickle of complete newbies. -
The link to the Privacy Policy as you login is broken - it takes you to the top level of the forums. The proper link is https://forums.homecomingservers.com/privacy-policy/

Which kinda makes me laugh... because my solo toons routinely safely use Awaken. Certainly not always, but enough that it's not unusual. That being said, I'm of mixed minds about this proposal. I kinda don't like the diminishment of risk and the provision of something that feels to me something like "get out of jail free" card. But on the other hand, I can sympathize with the situations that make it desirable.

Remove Architect Entertainment locations from starting zones
Doc_Scorpion replied to Arli's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Ayup. COX has been fighting that perception as long as I've been playing... (Issue 9 if anyone cares.) And it's make worse by the Homecoming meta of "we're all oldbies here, we don't want to repeat content for the ten thousandth time, we're BORED!" -
Changes to Fly, Hover, Afterburner, etc.

Maybe in your bubble... But not in mine. In my bubble, you rarely see TT outside of task forces and even there it's not quite common. -
Homecoming Code of Conduct Update - May 13th, 2021
Doc_Scorpion replied to Jimmy's topic in Announcements
<selects photographer's cap, places it on head at a jaunty angle> At least in the US (other countries are different! always check local laws!), it doesn't matter if someone in a public place with no expectation of privacy doesn't want to be photographed... Because US legal doctrine is that in that combination of circumstances they cannot object. Let 'em keep jumping in your frame, you can keep shooting without worrying about them (at least from a legal perspective). And pay attention to the two part test... The first gets complicated in public spaces on private property (such as a mall), and the second will seriously burn you, because places like bathrooms do produce an expectation of privacy. In the US, photographer's rights generally descend from the 1st Amendment (specifically freedom of the press) and are thus legally protected. There's some wrinkles at lower levels of government, but (very broadly and very simplified) if you can see it from a public space (commonly a public sidewalk is cited as the canonical example), you can freely snap away. <puts hat back on hook, slouches down, picks up second cup of coffee> Largely OT here... But as a photographer I wanted to make sure people understand the situation in the US. There's a lot of misunderstanding among the general public over when and what photographers can photograph. -
I can't speak for the OP, but I've done this when my schedule didn't match my time zone. I live in the Pacific (-8) time zone, so when I played UO in theory I should have played Baja, Napa, or one of the other West Coast (-8) servers. But I was busy in the evening and free in the late afternoon - so I played Lake Superior (-5) because it's peak hours matched when I was most likely playing.

Having had several costumes be inspired by random costumes... I disagree. As you yourself say, they're inspirations, starting points. Not examples. Don't want a tail? Delete it. Don't like the aura? Delete it or change it.

Marvel's "What If?" series
Doc_Scorpion replied to Glacier Peak's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
The writing was banal, except for the parts cut 'n pasted from movies... But I hope the amount of paste eaten by the writer didn't give them a stomachache. The animation was horrible. It looked like they rotoscoped a Pixar movie, right down to the stereotypical gestures and facial expressions, producing a weird horror that was neither 2D nor 3D. Whoever designed the characters should be shot and their body dumped in the nearest outhouse. And whoever directed the voice acting could really up their game by watching a round dozen low budget kung fu dubs from the mid 70's and paying careful attention. The only good part was the sweet relief of seeing the end credits roll and knowing the torture was over. It was an enormous let down... which is very depressing because I was a huge fan of What If? back in the day and I'm a huge fan of the MCU in general. I wanted to like it so very badly, but I just couldn't. -

Had a toon just play through his first story arc and got the "First Merit Reward" popup - only he'd already earned Merits via exploration badges. Seems to me this should be triggered by whatever means the toon earns their first merit - story arcs or accolade.
