  2. Is the way that I would always go. ... because "they" always think that what made the comics popular isn't as important as "modernizing" and "selling" the movie to a general audience. I would seriously like to see a classic comic movie done with everything from a series of comics done as it was done in the comics. Keep all the scripting and action from the comic ... and, then ... add in extra embellishment and dialog. In general, I have this feeling about retcons as well. The original were popular because the readers enjoyed them. Back when I was actively seeking out comics in the early days (early for me at least) -either on the "Hey, Kids! Comics!" or in a comic book store -, there wasn't polybagging, hologram cards, multiple covers, restarts to sell issue #1's, etc. Comics sold because people were interested in the story, characters, and/or the cover looked cool. To me, there seems to be far too much "adulting" of superheroes in movies ... and, it appears, in comic books in general these days (if not, simply deconstruction which to me is a juvenile attempt at "adulting" superheroes. It is always easier "to tear something down" than it is to "build something up") The flashy colors in comics were to promote sales which were targeted at adolescents and not adults. X-men under Chris Clairmont was highly targeted toward pointing out the prejudice of people toward those that are "different", how those that are "different" deal with that prejudice, and how that prejudice against those that are "different" is a villain that has to be confronted. [Coming back to insert this: In effect, how as a "nerdy" kid that reads comics am I to deal with the dressers, jocks, and bullies in the "in crowd"? - aka how do I deal with being an outsider (mutant)?] They tried to handle this in some of the X-men movies, but I think they were off-target because they "think" they know what's "better" than the original. I do think that the X-men movies were enjoyable and some of the better superhero movies out there (However, I have not enjoyed the handling of Dark Phoenix in the movies. Far too truncated and far too retconned for my tastes ... Dark Phoenix was a slow-boil thing in comics. plenty of foreshadowing for a long time before the ultimate solar system - if not galaxy spanning - confrontation.) I didn't really know where I was going with this, but it seems to be rounding out to pointing to a storyline with Sentinels in it. We have seen the advancement in Kaiju films - the technology can do a good job on Sentinels at this point. I would definitely think a Sentinels storyline should stretch out over at least two movies. 1) so that the first one can have a cliffhanger and 2) so that the VFX (hopefully, used properly for abbreviation purests) could be used over the course of 2 or more films for budgetary concerns.
  3. There are plenty of missions in the AE that aren't farms.
  4. It hasn't been turned on (for renaming) as far as I know. I don't think so. It doesn't appear that any servers will be merging but added instead .... another shard of the multiverse to inva.... I mean visit...
  5. The "new"/non-origin starter arcs/contacts for heroes suck as far as I'm concerned. Twinshot is the worst.
  6. Scrapper - Katana/Super Reflexes w/ Force of Will and Leadership equipped with the VK-99 Event Horizon
  7. ... the area of the City where I'm gaming with friends.
  8. I have been using game controllers to play City of Heroes since I started playing just before the drop of episode 2. I have always used Logitech controllers and used their profiler to set the controller to act like a keyboard. Here is my thread about my use of the Logitech F310 and how I set up that controller. The setup works very well for me and it might be helpful to look at my setup when setting up defaults for controllers. Also, if you are setting up for controllers/joysticks I would make sure to make one setup for the XBox controller and one for PlayStation controllers. I don't use either, but those seem to be one one most likely to be "ported" over for use. I don't believe either of these have a default profiler system that allows them to be set to operate like a keyboard. I included in my post is my setup file for the Logitech F310.
  9. Most of the time. Most of the time. I'm digging through to find the costume parts that work best of the character conception. Am I trying to make character concepts based on using parts that I haven't used before? Rarely. Rarely. Sometime I make a character because I want to use a powerset, and I didn't really pre-plan a character concept. And I mean rarely. I think I have only done this once. I randomized until I found something cool - not so many times as I remember - and then used that as the base and changed costume parts. I can't remember, but I think that time I even make the character name after I made the costume and/or changed the character name to more meet the character's costume.
  10. Yes. Buy it now! Buy quickly ... even at a inflated price ... it's there for the taking ... just do it!
  11. well, I have 2 problems with this. 1) If it is going to show something I need on the character screen that isn't there, it would be more important to me to know if the character needs to level-up or not. 2) I think it would cause massive delay and a strain on the system to have to draw additional information out of the character database and display it on the character selection screen. If I really need to know how much a character has, I can track it on a spreadsheet. I have general cap of x influence on a character, any more than that goes into email in 500M infl emails to myself. If a character doesn't have enough extra to load a 500M infl onto an email, then I just email what they have extras - next character, pull that less than 500M infl out and then rollback what extra that character has into an email and repeat until 500M infl. Then I draw from one of those emails when ever I need loot which is mostly on a new character or if I'm going to buy a bunch of card packs.
  12. The Yin in Fauleline https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Penelope_Yin_(Faultline) is a 15-19 contact that you can get from Jake Temblor https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Jim_Temblor You will probably need to level-lock (turn off your XP gain) to avoid out-leveling getting her as a contact and to run all her missions. The others already explained how to get to https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Penelope_Yin_Task_Force
  13. Nope. I do other things. I may spend too much time logged into THE CITY and digging through the forums, but the time here is and in-game is enjoyable to me. Then it sounds like a good decision for you. I'm glad that you came to that conclusion for yourself. It isn't necessary to try to drag people along with you in order to reassure yourself that you are making the correct decision. yeah, that sounds pretty boring. I wouldn't be playing any more CoH if that was all I was doing either. Go find your bliss. It will be good for your soul.
  14. Origin contacts! When they started funneling during the last years before the Sunset, they stopped directing new players to the Origin contacts in City Hall in Atlas. A lot of the Origin stuff is left out of the contact selection if you don't follow it and get the next Origin contact. An origin contact will give you two Origin contact choices part way through their arc that are not the same origin. At the last level or the level after their last contact level (for missions) they will/can offer you another origin contact of the same origin. If you use the wiki to check out contacts, it will list what origin they are if they have one. You can solo a lot of the Hollows, but it more fun with a team. Perez Park is great for street fighting with a team. And I second running the Striga arcs. Croatoa is fun as well.
  15. I guess you did not "say" but you admit posting someone else's comment that included it in your post. As I understand it, they did not post that in the forums. You posted that comment in the forums. I feel insulted. I pointed that out. Again. I'm done with this. Please don't bring my name up again. You bring up some interesting things about bases, but I can search for information if I need it. I feel best to un-follow you at this point and to do my best to avoid the Base Community in general.
  16. The TO's go up to 30. Check this list https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Stores for purchase locations. I'm assuming you can use the option in "manage" to "upgrade" them higher, but I haven't tried.
  17. Did you read the Code of Conduct when you registered? https://forums.homecomingservers.com/code-of-conduct/#video-policy
  18. I'm pretty sure it works like fear. Hitting someone under the effect of the power allows them to make one retaliatory attack before coming under its influence. It is important to note that Sleep is an auto hit on most non-PVP targets at this point. The real power of sleeps - of course - is to get on a team where they know you are sleeping and understand not to attack the targets that are sleeping - aka use single target attacks on non-sleeping opponents first. Sleep the minions while the team focuses on the Bosses and LT's but, of course, today there are so many people that only know how to play "Hulk smash!" and don't want to play any other way.
  19. Was it really necessary to disrespect me for posting my views during the initial conversation? I told you that I was removing myself from the conversation a good while back. Why drag my name into this?
  20. I think I've still at less than 5 respecs total across all my 150 characters. Unless I really screw up, I don't respec. If it some minor screw up, I figure that's just the life of that character.
  21. What's not to love about a set that you have more than enough powers that can take performance shifters and power transfers?' I enjoy my electric/electric as well.

  23. Then check out this post that is from the Lead Game Master in the same thread. "Well, the GMs monitor this stuff, so the Devs are free to make content for everyone to play 😃As for the rest of your comment? I'd hate to say it, but, it essentially comes down to "I know it when I see it". We don't have strict, precise guidelines, only because people would toe the line on purpose just to be annoying. And the GM staff needs to be free make judgement calls on these things. We've seen enough uninspired copycats and delightful homages to tell the difference by this point." - GM Impervium
