  1. I don’t see any criticism in my post. Just curiosity. I was wondering what the motive was and I still don’t know.
  2. I’m not the best to answer I only have one fully fleshed out Dom, but I’ll will drop my two cents. Doms are fun but they aren’t great until you get perma-Dom, and even then I always feel like I could be contributing more if I was on a different toon. For me being a Dom is all about entertainment not efficiency. It’s like the Harlem Globetrotters. You can do really fun stuff but you are playing a different game than the pros. I assume and kinda hope I get a lot of people arguing against me as I want to feel like my Dom is useful but I just haven’t got there yet. Oh, more on point (finally), a really fun build is Mind/Energy. You can get massive global recharge from Force Feedback in multiple powers and it’s not super expensive.
  3. I have a thought that is maybe not on point but feels related. Why does it seem like every team leader insists on maxing out every mission with 8 players? Could we limit the redundancy of corpse killing and increase the likelihood of teams sticking together if we as a community were more often running smaller teams where everyone felt more relevant?
  4. I would argue that ‘fun’ is not a feeling, but rather an intention. Some things we do for survival, some out of obligation, or a multitude of other reasons, and some things we do ‘just for fun’. The feelings we have while doing things ‘for fun’ can be extremely varied.
  5. My favorite character in my massive alt-list is my Elec/Shield Stalker. I never took Placate so I have nothing useful to say, cause I have never tried it! I respec-ed out of Thunderstrike because the animation is just too long for my play style and my global recharge was so high I didn't need it to fill my attack chain. I also didn't take Grant Cover because I'm not a Tank.
  6. Yeah, that is one you do not want a miss on. If it consistently hits it’s a little better than Build Up, if it doesn’t hit it’s infinitely worse.
  7. Prednisone is a wonder drug for poison ivy,. It does require a prescription, but it's an easy one to get. If you're reaction is as bad as it sounds they'll write it for you immediately anywhere you go. If you're sensitive to steroids it can make your mind race a little and possibly keep you up at night though, but for me it's worth it. Benadryl can help a little. I like to keep my rash wrapped, makes incidental contact or mindless scratching much less irritating, especially when sleeping. I avoid sunlight and exercise, sweating seems to make it more irritating.
  8. First, let me agree with the sentiment that debuffs are incredibly effective for max difficulty content, but when you say buffer I assume you mean +damage? As an IOd/Incarnated out WP Brute you must have defense/resist maxed and massive regen and recovery and recharge and probably not lacking for tohit/accuracy and you said yourself you don’t need heals. So the only thing you want is +damage and -resist/-regen, cause nothing else really moves the needle very much. That’s one of the reasons why some people think it’s unbalanced.
  9. I think what we all want is a game where we all feel useful regardless of our power sets.
  10. Are you asking how to uninstall just CoH or also Island Rum?
  11. There is no need to backup anything. All your characters and everything associated with them is stored server-side. The only things that you lose if you do a re-install are your saved settings, saved key mappings, saved costumes, order of characters on character select screen and maybe a few other things I can't recall, but nothing that can't be easily restored after logging in and re-saving them.
  12. I feel the same way but it may just be that when it works I don't even notice it happened and I only notice when it doesn't work. That being said, there have been several times it didn't work and I had to to a complete re-install.
  13. Have you tried Kinetic Melee? It works well on a Stalker. The lackluster ‘Power Siphon’ that other ATs get (and was supposed to be a feature of the set but ended up being kinda weak) is replaced by Build Up, and the forgettable ‘Repulsing Torrent’ cone is replaced by Assassins Strike, and from what I've heard (but not tested) is that 'Burst' always deals a Critical Hit when Hidden, unlike most Stalker AoEs. But most importantly it really fits your theme of a less lethal feeling power set. It’s animations are reported to be inspired by Tai-Chi. https://www.pcgamer.com/dev-diary-city-of-heroes-kinetic-melee/
  14. Lots of good suggestions. For me it would be altering the exp bonus for maximum sized groups (8) by just giving the max bonus to any group. My favorite experiences in this game have been in small groups but these days no one will start a mission without 8 players.
  15. Used to have to go to a field trainer and pay a small fee. Now anytime anywhere for free!
  16. It’s very easy now. Click chat bubble icon. Set Notoriety.
  17. Not sure if it's helpful but there is another thread addressing similar issues:
  18. Are these threads related? Anyone who knows more than I do want to chime in?
  19. Interesting side note: Upon successfully reloading Homecoming all my character slots were re-arranged in the order i created them instead of the order I had moved them to (favorites up top!)
  20. My advice, which is based solely on my own experience and absolutely no knowledge of why it worked: 1) Upgrade to the newest version of OS 2) Delete contents of CoH folder (not the folder itself, just everything in it. I know it’s created automatically on install but I remember someone somewhere saying it’s better to have it already there before install begins). Other option is delete folder along with its contents and then recreate folder before install: This is all very possibly irrelevant. 3) Open Island Rum . . . click ‘Install’. 4) You may be asked to enter your admin password. 5) You may be given error messages, follow them as best you can. 6) Cross fingers and pray!
  21. I'm back on. Deleted contents of CoH folder, opened Island Rum, reinstalled, got blue "Play" arrow, clicked it . . . nothing. Updated Catalina to 10.15, restarted, deleted contents of CoH folder, opened Island Rum, reinstalled, got blue "Play" arrow, clicked it . . . got this error message: Clicked 'Install', got another error message about something else it couldn't find, clicked Install, and Homecoming launched.
  22. Mac user here who just lost access as well. Been playing smoothly on Catalina since install months ago, played earlier today but just now Island Rum says 'Client not found'.
  23. You can level any way you want for sure, but many people like to buy the Free Double Experience power from the P2W vendor so if you decide not to, your teammates may outlevel you very quickly. If you want to run contact missions it’s best to be the team leader and recruit, there’s always people lfg but not always people willing to put one together. On Everlasting, and most severs I assume, the most popular missions are the DFB (Atlas Park lowbie exp grind, but with badges if you do it right) and the weekly task forces (double merits! It turns out people love merits!). Task forces in general seem to be happening constantly, merits seem to be highly motivating. There is also definitely still AE farms but they aren’t necessary even for those looking to speed level. Peregrine Island +4x8 Council missions work just as well.
