999,999,999 inf -or- why I can't stand COV
Ironblade replied to fancy ketchup's topic in General Discussion
Clearly it was not much for the person who gave it away on a whim. If there is any chance you'll play CoH in the future, I'd say keep half and give half away. -
Mace Mastery? What do you use it for?
Ironblade replied to Yomo Kimyata's topic in General Discussion
This is why my fire/fire brute has it. -
Well, our jetpacks aren't so far-fetched now!
Ironblade replied to RikOz's topic in General Discussion
Yeah . . . jet packs . . . -
Let me answer that indirectly. I've done some task forces (Kahn most recently) where we had all DPS (scrappers, blasters and one squid). It was a serious slog against the AV. Conversely, I've been on many task forces and iTrials that were recruited as "all defender" and it was EASY. We did a Dilemma Diabolique with all defenders and no one even went below half hit points the entire run. A friend of mine used to run all defender Statesman TFs on live - walk in the park. When we do the Really Hard Way badge runs of the Magisterium, we need to have six or more corruptors. The combination of buffs/debuffs and scourge makes the difference. One support characters brings a lot to a team. A team of all support is grossly overpowered.

Beats me. The Wiki says: "This badge will still award, whether or not you helped harm Nemesis, and even if he is defeated by, e.g., a Police Drone"
-
Not exactly what you were asking, but: "The 2nd of January is the Feast Day of St Macarius of Alexandria. St Macarius of Alexandria has been dubbed St Macaroon, owing to his name and his association with pastry chefs. He is also a patron saint of cooks and candy makers."
-
Yeah, I made a Sentinel and that absorption shield is very useful.
-
Surprisingly, there's no official route to becoming a patron saint. It just 'happens'. Some group decides that a saint should be the patron saint of something and, if they're persistent and there's enough people, it just sticks.
-
I would never give advice on someones power choices, slotting, set bonuses, etc unless specifically asked. Pretty much the only time I would give unsolicited advice is if someone is on a team and does something genuinely stupid that gets OTHER people killed. If they get themselves killed, I consider that a learning experience. If they get others killed, they're messing up other peoples fun so I'll say something.
-
Yeah, some patron saints are disturbing. Like Bartholomew, the patron saint of butchers, tanners and leatherworkers. He was killed by being flayed and is often portrayed as a flayed man carrying his own skin.
-
Interesting that you would make that comparison, because there absolutely is such a limit on how many targets a tank can control. That number is 17. And it certainly does not mean taking multiple tanks for an 8 man team since the spawn size limit is 16-17. (Aside from the fact that teams with zero tanks can do just fine.)

Um, did someone forget to hit a button? Or something?

People consult the groundhogs for weather predictions, but marmots also have insight for us. -
Player reactions suggest that the distribution is not uniform. I have been on many runs and there are certain monsters who will prompt comments like, "You don't see him often." I have seen this comment made about Caleb more than once. On the other hand, my personal impression is that Babbage shows up way too often. Nothing scientific or involving actual stats here - just my impressions and observations.

Then let's just say, "HC has a slow but steady approach." Period. No need to throw in gratuitous slander. The Homecoming devs have settled on a particular approach and management style and it has worked FOR YEARS. Shouldn't we weigh the criticisms? Of course. There is a suggestion forum and every major update goes through multiple rounds of testing and feedback. But, at the end of the day, if someone takes the position that the way Homecoming does things is completely unacceptable to them then, yes, they should go play on another server or even a completely different game. That's how life goes. This is a game and the people running it have decided to run it a certain way. They are clearly open to player input and feedback and have made many changes based on that input. But they make the final decisions. When all is said and done, it's actually that simple. If you like playing here more than you dislike it, stay and play. If you'd like to see changes, speak up. If the changes you champion don't get implemented, either accept that or leave. Every individual has complete freedom of choice from start to finish.

The announcement was late (occurring 2-1/4 hours after your post) due to Cipher being unavailable. And it apparently closed pretty quickly this month.

first time soloing a TF: level 11 blaster, Posi 1
Ironblade replied to cohRock's topic in General Discussion
I soloed Positron part 1 five or six times the last time it was the weekly. It's an easy way to get a Notice of the Well. On a side note, I just did my 7th Penny Yin TF this week. I have a lot of characters who need Notices. 🙂 -
Which Redside Villain's Arc for Patron Pools?
Ironblade replied to Clave Dark 5's topic in General Discussion
They are also available in Ouroboros. I did them ALL there in order to get all of their badges. -
Currently, play other games. Back on live: - I ran a top 40 SG with two sister SG's - I was an officer in two other SG's, one of them in the top 10 - I was a member in a couple other SG's, including one with specific participation requirements - I ran TF's and trials for my SG - I ran TF's on Saturday with open sign-up on the forums Eventually, I got burnt out, conveniently right about when the game shut down anyway. So I moved on to other games and didn't even join guilds in them, let alone run a guild. Now, I'm back in CoH and have reformed my SG but only with a handful of people I knew from live or that I know in real life. But I'm also playing 7 Days To Die, Red Dead Online, Civilization VI, Warhammer: Verminide 2 and a few other games on a regular basis. I don't lead any scheduled stuff in CoH - just random TF's when I feel like it - but I have 17 characters at level 50. TL/DR version: If you're burning out on CoH, just stop.
-
I don't use Mids. I'm a neanderthal.

Interestingly, Sentinels (and ONLY Sentinels) already get exactly this power. It's called 'Instant Regeneration' and it's a toggle that builds up an Absorption shield. I don't know the max shield offhand. My /regen Sentinel is 37 so far and the set feels really strong on a Sentinel. My main is a broadsword/regen scrapper.
-
We see these on Everlasting often enough. I was an an all-defender Dilemma Diabolique. It was embarrassing - for the enemies. Not a single player died. Even the Sentinel of Mot couldn't touch us. Just one or two days before that, I saw someone advertising an all-radiation (primary or secondary) ITF.
-
Just curious; 'Blue Screen Of Death'?
-
The entire prestige system was scrapped, so a single person can start an SG and build an entire town for their base. So not as much pressure/need to have members at all. My impression is that this has resulted in many more small/solo SG's.
