  1. After doing several missions myself and keeping an eye out for any changes to enemies AI, I too have found that there does appear to be "some" changes. For example, I was fighting a lone (5th Column?) bad guy after taking out the rest of them, and as soon as he changed into his Werewolf form, he immediately turned around, ran to the nearest closed gate (we were in a warehouse at the time), and opening it, revealed more of his friends to fight with him as backup. All the while ignoring the attacks me and my Beast's were hitting him with (I was on my MM at the time). This not only surprised me, but also made me smile. Why? Because finally I was fighting an enemy who had more brains than a bag of rocks lol. Now I like easy kills as much as the next person, but being an old school fart who still remembers "smart" AI enemies from the Half-Life games, this was a very refreshing change. So while some may dislike this "apparent" change in AI (generally speaking only of course), I actually am quite fond of it. For it makes the game far more interesting and challenging sometimes, without actually needing to up the challenge rating so to speak. And as always, fighting thinking bad guys is far more fun to me than just putting down clones of dumb ass's. Some may enjoy that; I do not so much lol. So if this is in fact something the GM's have implemented in the game (generally speaking), even as a test so to speak, then well done I say. Now all you gotta do is teach them true tactics & teamwork, and it will be even more fun... 😁 Just my view though...
  2. Kinky... Me loves it, thanks Snarky! 😀
  3. Hi all... I also think it is something else that few have even considered, and that is the "generation gap" of the player base. What I mean by this is how many players are ones' who used to play when the game was live, as opposed to the new players who have recently begun playing, let alone realize CoH even exists (still). We old timers were raised for the most part when, as @Techwright, playing the game was a journey, and not a destination. We have loads of experience, but as @OverkillEngine inferred, today's gamers are almost conditioned to get to the finish line as fast as possible. And generally speaking, that is perfectly fine, as the bottom line is to play the game how you want, and just have fun with it. However, we old folks know that there is far more to CoH then getting to the relative end, and then looking around and saying "Ok I'm here, what's next?" More and more I am seeing in chat new players who have high level characters entering the game and asking very basic questions which most would know if they had just played the game itself, done at least some of the basic content, and learned threw basic overall game experience. But as many have the general attention span of a squirrel, that just doesn't happen with many new gamers today sadly. However, it still warms my heart and makes me smile when this community still takes the time to teach these new players the in's and out's of the game, and answer some basic questions. It is a two way street though, and sadly some of us still experience new players trying to do high level content, while not having a clue how to do it. Which of course can make teams a bit more challenging to deal with. But take heart; hopefully with kind words and guidance, these new (and refreshing I might add) players will learn a thing or two in the process, and maybe even pay it forward by teaching others. Like life, there are good times and bad times (and teams), but with at least this community of old time players, we'll make it threw it. If not, we can always send them to @Snarky. God knows how much he loves dealing with such new players. Sloppy seconds indeed! lol 😁
  4. Ahhh, Snarky, you always find a way to make me smile... 😁 Get down with your bad self! (Too bad you play on the Dark Side of the moon though; I'd love to team/meet with you in person lol)...
  5. And also, great job in giving a helping hand with info guy's; you all rock! 😁
  6. Yup, Epoch' (my Will/DM Tank) went from 10th lvl to 20th lvl, all in one hour or so. It was a blast yet again, and I appreciate the the Tanky team up. Now that I got the schedule down, next week I'll join in the Tanky fun again on Everlasting with Epoch', and maybe get him another 8-10 levels (if that is ok with you all). Again though, thanks for the Tanky fun, though I think I'm gonna have to stock up on more Rez's in my Email for the team; you know... just in case people may need them, and can't self Rez like a certain Princess can. 🙂 After all, the honor is to serve, as Worf would say... 🙂
  7. Well obviously! It's a singing party hero side @Snarky; come sing with us! 😁
  8. Hey, welcome back! 🙂 As has been said already, your old account & characters went the way of the Dodo long ago, so now is your chance to "remake" them (if you wish. Stronger, faster, much like the 6 million dollar man (though far cheaper this time)... 😁
  9. Personally, I caressed it gently. But then again, I am feeling very relaxed today, so yeah... 😋 You get 4 ✨today @Bionic_Flea (Yeah, I know they're sparkles, but I couldn't find the dang Star... Sorry'z... 😞)
  10. Me thinks you forgot this; happy trails... 🙂
  11. Totally agree with what @wjrasmussen asked; what politics? It's just the standard reaction of most prisoners throughout history when you think about it. No politics involved here...
  12. Thank you @BuiltDifferent5, I love Dark Melee as well. As one who not only had a 50th lvl DM/Inv Scrapper during live, but was also one of the top 3 people who used the set on the server (Freedom I think? It's been soooo long, I sorta forget lol), I just loved how powerful and versatile the set was. My character (T'rel) was nigh unkillable, and that was during live. It's only gotten better since then on Homecoming. 🙂 So I am quite eager to see how this Will/Dark Tank I just created works out...
  13. Hey, thanks for the info and advice guys... 🙂 For now I have gone for Willpower/Dark Melee, and so far he is fun as can be (not to mention quite sturdy atm), despite being low in lvl's. I went for Willpower instead of Radiation, not only to test it's symmetry out with Dark Melee, not to mention the non-endurance issues (eventually), but also because having some medical issues, I sorta work best with less "high maintenance" builds and set combos'. And while Radiation does look great, it "appears" to be very click heavy at times, while Willpower (like Invulnerability) is more of a toggle and forget set. And I didn't go for Invulnerability, because I am a very, very old hand with that set, and know it quite well, and wanted to try out something a bit more newer for me. Here's hoping that Will/Dark is not only survivable (especially late game), but also fun as can be (not to mention NOT having any endurance issue, which always bugs me to no end lol). 😁
  14. Hiho... 🙂 Why Rad by chance? Any advice would be appreciated... 🙂
  15. Hey all... I just wanted to say thanks again for letting me join in on the fun last night. 🙂 Being on my lvl 46 Inv/SS Tank (Tobor) after being away for so long brought back some good, fun memories. I just hope I pulled my metal weight good enough is all lol. Maybe next time I'll have "another" Tank to join the fray, though I am sorta stuck on a nice, fun concept to make. Leaning towards ?/Dark, but I am not exactly sure. Willpower? Invulnerability again? Not sure. In either case, I just wanted to say Tanks' again, and I look forward to maybe joining in on the Tank'ard of fun again next week. 🙂
  16. Hey, thank you for the info @biostem. I actually just side Warshade to check it out, and so far I am liking it a lot. like you said, it very much has a feel of being a blast/control set (with debuffs of course added in for flavor), and that is very much right up my ally. 🙂 However, I don't think it will exactly work for Unicron, as it just doesn't have the right "feel" in my mind. So thanks for the help & advice about the Warshade; it's certainly a blast to play! 😁
  17. Hmmm, that sounds very interesting @biostem, thank you for the info. I have only used Peacebringers before and never a Warshade, so I might have to try that out. I didn't think they had gravity like powers though, but as I love the gravity powerset, that sounds very intriguing to me. Does the temp minion Dark Extraction create have the same powers as the original? It would be way cool if it did. 😁 Oh, and while I find that a human only PeaceBringer is a viable option, considering my playstyle and many times solo play, how does the Warshade compair generally speaking? Is it ok running solo, or is it better on teams? And how survivable is it (generally speaking) just in it's Human form?
  18. Well, greetings one and all... Recently I came back to CoH after a long hiatus due to medical reasons, and I have been slowly "relearning" the in's and out's of the game again, including one of my favorite aspects of it... the character creator. I am also happy that this thread is still going on strong, and it makes me smile to see such cool, interesting character looks here. Keep it up! As such, and as I have created yet more "new" characters to help me get back into the game (slowly but surely), I figured I would post them here again so as to see if they are good or not, compaired to some of your awesome designs. So please forgive, as there are a few of them lol... 1) Captain-Wizbang 2 (Beam Rifle/Devices Blaster) (My homage to the serial shows of the 1950's) 2) Clock-Works (Assault Rifle/Devices Blaster) (The best dang looking robot I have ever created lol) 3) Count Ebon (Ice/Dark Corruptor) (A homage to @Snarky 's new character) 4) Fel (Ninja/Thermal Mastermind) (A fallen cursed ninja warrior) 5) Ice (Ice/Ice Blaster) (Looking cool I hope lol) 6) Little Feral (Beast/Storm Mastermind) (The only character I refuse to team with, as she is, well, a little chaotic & feral... sorry, I couldn't resist the pun... snicker...) 7) Terrene (Plant/Nature Controller) (She's just a little plant bud that sort of grew on me)
  19. Why, thank you very much @Snarky. Honestly, the pants were the easiest part to work on for the character. 🙂 One of the things I enjoy a TON in the game, is coming up with new interesting looks in the character creator. I consider it a challenge to come up with something that looks super sharp based on whatever character concept I am shooting for. In fact, if you (or anyone else here on the forums) would like some help in coming up with a great look for a new (or old) character, please don't hesitate to ask me to help. 🙂 All I would need is some basic idea on the parameters of what you (they) would want, like gender, colors, size, chosen powers, etc. Then I can come up with something that will most assuredly look great and garner some nice comments in game. Heck, I have won many a CC with what I can come up with, so who knows? 🙂 I can easily hook you up... Oh, and @biostem, I am not exactly sure I know what you mean by saying "kind of fits the theme of using defeated bodies as "raw material". As someone who has not really used any Kheldian's/Warshades, I do not know a ton about them. Could you please explain by chance? Need input! lol 😁
  20. Ok, back (it's been a busy week lol)... Thanks again one and all for your replies and suggestions. I did indeed create a Human form Kheldian as you suggested @ranagrande, and so far I have found him to be interesting and fun to play. And of course, using a specific keybind to look for and single out Quantums and such makes things a lot easier to deal with too. 🙂 I will of course test out other builds as well, including a Robots/Radiation MM, a Invulnerability/Radiation Tank, and maybe even a Radiation/Energy Armor Sentinel. Good suggestions all. And your right @Snarky; I am not able to play enough to be able to get to 38th lvl easily or anytime soon, but no, I don't think I'll need any PL'ing (though, thank you very much for the thought). Oh, and @Lazarus, while it is true that Unicron did in fact only use eye beams in the Transformers: The Movie, movie, in the comics he is far, far more powerful than just the huge planet eating robot he was portrayed as there. In fact, he's considered to be a Universal level threat, and "supposedly" unkillable, and as such would give even Galactus a run for his money (which would be an awesome fight to see imo! 😁 So just using eye beams is not how I am going to be approaching this... 🙂 And as far as how he looks, well... what do you think of how I created his look, hmmm? 🙂
  21. Great replies all, thank you. 🙂 First off, Sir Snarky... getting to level 38 in like... 30 mins?!? Holy, that's some grinding you got going there (even by using a 2nd account it appears); mucho respect... though that is really not my cup of tea, as I really do just enjoy playing the game itself and not PL'ing the character (heck I still love playing the single digit lower level's lol). Interesting idea though, just doing 4 DFB's & TF's up the whazoo; might be something to think about, thank you. And @Sir Myshkin... the Sentinel is an interesting concept indeed, for all the reasons you stated. I have never used Energy Aura before however, so my experience/knowledge of it is fairly next to none. So how would a Rad Blast/Energy Aura Sentinel be actually? And how is Energy Aura as a whole? Might have to do some more research on it, especially seeing as (from what I hear) Sentinels are nowhere near "top tier" as far as either their primaries or secondaries goes. Any input anyone has on the combo, especially on a Sentinel, would be helpful, thanks... 🙂 And finally @ranagrande, it is very interesting and ironic that you would mention a Kheldian. Because not only did I not think of it at all (and yes, a human only Peacebringer would fit nicely), but last night as I was sleeping, I had a dream where he was in fact that; talk about symmetry. lol Of course, there would be the pesky Quantums and such to deal with, which can be definitely annoying as hell (though I do think I have a keybind saved somewhere that would look & target them specifically first), but having played one for a bit in the past, I did find it enjoyable. The question(s) is, how is a human only Kheldian nowadays; especially for solo play? Is it still a viable way to go, and more importantly, "powerful" enough to take on most things in the game, survive, and be of good use on teams? Great idea though @ranagrande! So add that one to the list too... 🙂 * Kheldian: Human only Peacebringer In either case, thanks for all the thoughts, replies, and ideas so far guys! And please, keep em' coming too... 🙂
  22. Thanks for the imput @Sir Myshkin. A Unicron type character is sorta hard to nail down right, in such a way to give it that "mass feeling of presence" as you said. That being said though, Unicron (as I mentioned) is more of a distance character than a in your face melee one. Or think of it this way... Galacticus (who Unicron is very much like btw) can do both... melee and range... but he would rather destroy you at range than otherwise.... BUT, if you get in close, he is more that willing to give you a beat down. Then when he knocks you back due to it, he will go back to blasting you to atoms lol. Hence, why I was thinking of a energy set that did mostly ranged/control/x-ray eyes, with a touch of melee... just in case. 🙂
