I had no idea. Thanks, Dacy! 👍 -
Elegant solution to buff Regen.
Triumphant replied to ClawsandEffect's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
LOL. I get it, I really do. And I'm sure the Devs are gun shy about messing with it, for just this reason. But you could do incremental tweaks and evaluate them, bit by bit, on the test server. That's the whole point of vetting power changes via the test server. I imagine there are very difficult challenges associated with changing the power set into something decent, without making the set over-powered and breaking the game again, but you can't do it if you don't try. -
Yeah, that's the thing. If the legions of old-timers on live are a vastly larger group than the rest of us, they could just band together and play in the classic style, by dialing the difficulty up or down and refusing to use the various new-fangled widgets. A few folks have even posted old-school type groups on Discord and the forums. These groups are not comprised of huge numbers of members, so far as I know (Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. But if I'm wrong, why is there still an issue from an old-school player's perspective?). I think if that was going to happen, you would already see it happening. I don't see it happening. Maybe players of a more old-school play style would get more traction if they advertised outside of the game discord/forums on Twitter/X, facebook, or whatever the current social media landscape is? I dunno. 🤷♂️ But I think the reality is that most live players have moved onto other interests. A few of them have returned via the call of powerful nostalgia, and these are the ones that remain. Others (like myself) are folks that never played during live, stumbled on Homecoming entirely by accident, really like the game in its present form, and keep sticking around. Realistically, I think reverting the game to something more like it's live state would just drive off most of the current player base, making it a fully (or mostly) dead game, once again. The above is all just my opinion, of course. I haven't got any hard data to back up my hypothesis, fwiw.

It tells me pretty much what I would expect from a 20 year old game: The small core of devoted fans remain the same small core of devoted fans. Everyone else is looking for more modern gameplay. It's fine by me. I like the game. I like the player base that we have. If a few trickle in and a few trickle out, every now and again, that's okay too. 🤷♂️

Elegant solution to buff Regen.
Triumphant replied to ClawsandEffect's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I don't know what the solution is, but it needs help. I do wish the devs would devote some to it, in lieu of (or, at least, in addition to) working on new power sets. Don't take that too hard, Devs. I love what you guys do here. It's just how I feel about this one particular thing, which has needed attention for some time now, but never seems to get around to being addressed. -
Life-Like/Realistic Showcase Listing for July 13-28

Shard: Everlasting Base Code: DIGS-34712 Builder or Owner: @Doctor Radon Special Considerations: This was meant to be a simple studio apartment in Kings Row. Visitors will quickly realize that it's poorly named, as this is much larger than a studio, having multiple rooms and even a small bar. What I discovered is that it's much more challenging to craft a nice-looking base in a very compressed space than I had first imagined (It can be done, of course! I have seen some amazing studio-type apartments in the past- I just lack the skill to pull it off myself, apparently). Anyway, I imagine that this base is one of several apartment complexes in a former warehouse in Kings Row, that was gutted and converted into rental flats. I'd go back and change the base name, if I could, but of course you can't do that, so I suppose it will remain poorly named in perpetuity. 😄🤷♂️ -
Sumerian Six: Weird Science Supers vs. Nazis
Triumphant replied to Techwright's topic in Video Games
Well, one does wonder where the "Sumerian" bit comes in, I suppose. It does look like a pretty cool game, though. -
Yeah, I've actually had that happen a couple of times. Rare, but it does happen.

Spider-Noir: The Series
Triumphant replied to ThaOGDreamWeaver's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
Looks cool. Will be watching with interest. 👍 -
I think that's mostly for when people are running radio/paper/tip/alignment missions and such.
-
Sometimes, yeah. One area that annoys me, in this regard, are those missions that spawn directly in the MIDDLE of Independence Port. No matter which end of the zone you approach from, it's still a slog. 😝
-
So sheik. Blood stains are always in style.
-
Ha, ha! Well, at least you know where you stand with those guys. 😄

I'm still watching (and enjoying) the show. My main concern with it at this point, is the same concern I have with most of these 8 episode series by the time we hit episode 6: How are they going to neatly wrap up and resolve the story in 2 episodes? They always do it, of course- but usually not as satisfactorily as I would like. I do wish we could get series that run at least a dozen episodes. I realize that ye-days-of-old, where an average TV series would run a couple dozen (or more) episodes a year are now a relic of my hoary, old past- but at least give us a solid dozen, for crying out loud.

The ol' shard vs thread debate - resolved
Triumphant replied to Ukase's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I've never been clear on which content drops which incarnate components. I just find it easiest to fill my incarnate slots by using a combination of threads + empyrean merits for the rarer components. My tired old brain can parse those two, simple things, so that's what I go with. 🤷♂️ I would not even tell anyone that that's the best way to do it. That's just the way that works best for me. The whole system is a bit too overcomplex, IMO. Part of the problem (IMO) is that the power ladder diagram in the incarnates tab is designed in such a way that it is not intuitive to figure out by looking at it and reading the explanation text. I don't know exactly how that could be redesigned to make it more sensible, but it would really be helpful if some work were done to that effect (again, this is JMO). -
Slowing down when chasing an enemy
Triumphant replied to Book of Og's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Agreed. It's one of a handful of things about this game that truly annoys me. -
There's a lot of variation, depending on my mood, goals and the AT/powersets I'm playing. If I have a specific end-game plan, on an AT and powerset that I know well, I might powerlevel straight to 50 in a single day (though granted, that's rare). If it's an AT/Powerset that is unfamiliar for me, it can take quite a while (weeks- possibly months) because I have to play normally from level 1, in order to learn how to use the power sets effectively.

It's a weird bit of random Trollery, I must confess. I guess some people just haven't got anything better to do. 🤷♂️

yOu ShOuLD cHaNGe kNoCkBAck to KnoCKdoWN!
Triumphant replied to Forager's topic in General Discussion
I have some characters that use knockback to knockdown (I want to maximize my AOE effects). Others, I don't (I just want to enjoy knocking things around like bowling pins). If someone asks me to change the latter character to KB to KD, I just ignore them. What, am I gonna stop to do it in the middle of the mission? No. If the leader wants me to do that, they should have stated "No knockback powers, please" in their recruit message in LFG channel. If it really irritates the leader (and everyone else), they can always boot me from the team. I have no objections to that. The way I deal with other players using KB is I utilize combat teleport to run them down or holds to lock them in place. It makes the game more challenging, yes. It does mess with tanks pretty hard, yes. But Tankers often think that this game is just about them. That everything in combat should revolve around them and that the only tactic that should be considered is the one that utilizes the tank as an anchor to lock the mobs in place around them. And yeah- that's a great tactic. But it's not the only way to play the game. Nor is doing the exact same thing every time, always what you want out of a game, even if it IS the most effective tactic. I think this is really only a major issue in PUGs. If you're part of a regular team or member of an established SG with internal rules of conduct, you can deal with this problem easily enough. PUGs, on the other hand, are... PUGs. You get what you get and you don't throw a fit. All of the above is simply just my opinion, of course. P.S. Also, personally, I find flaming demon mastermind pets WAY MORE annoying and problematic than KB effects. 😝 -
Legit. 👍
