Hmmm...just started a Psy/Storm Corr, now I'm rethinking maybe reroll as a Defender...? I loved the idea of a sniper attack at level *2* which can be maxed out with enhancements by level 7! But, apparently Scourge doesn't work with Psychic on a Corr - don't its powers get crits, or am I missing something else...?

Ok, I'm convinced. I'm rerolling my Psy/FF toon right now! 😉 (plus I love the 'free' stealth Dark and Storm give you :).

Cool thread. So I'm making yet another theme toon...this one will be pure team/support, and being a total pacifist, only for support/buff/healing (possibly debuff too, but no damage). So, I want to try to see if I can get to 50 without doing a single point of direct damage :D. I'd obviouslyt have to take any initial dmg dealing powers, and ignore them. I'm sure many have tried & succeeded, but keep in mind, I'm a chronic solo carebear. So, what would be the 'easiest' & most effective AT primary/secondary to take up? I don't like the tanker router, as they really should do *some* damage, often via reflect powers. Troller seems a natural pick, Defender look good too, but their secondaries usually do ranged damage. I don't really want to gimp myself, but I will skip any/all direct dmg powers up to ~40. Empathy, Nature seem obvious choices, maybe Gravity, Mind...? Perhaps a Dominator, or even a Kheldian built the right way...? Cheers guys!

Thought so. Must set up a macro toggle, but now I have Mystic Flight, I don't think that uses much juice just to hover. Yeah, I use SOs up to 25, then switch to std IOs, before I start thinking about expensive set IOs. If I ever get a hero that high, given my rampant, out-of-control alt-o-holism & cosplay fetish lol! *blush*...case in point: Started a Ill/Emp troller as a pacifist support/healer only team char. Played a couple sewer runs and Positron TF with a fun 8 man pug - already 16 without having done a single point of dmg lol! 🙂 ---- Now trying a Time/Rad which seems to be much easier on the END & just as fun so far!

I have over 50 toons on HC. I really need to get at least one of them to 50... *blush*

Late to the party...I went with Nature originally with my puppies and kitties. No sad panda here as they almost never die, what with all the debuffs and buffs and mucho healing. Sure, I'm just a baby sitter, but sok, I know my place in the pack... 😉

Loving my new Dark/Dark Defender, but oh boy is she endurance hungry! I do have the p2w jet pack + 2 runs + Shadow Fall toggled on most of the time though. Just finally got Mystic Flight so I should be able to get rid of the other 3 travel powers now, having a fly/telport in one. I'm only level 10 with 2 ENDRED SOs in Stamina, but stil running out of END after every couple combat rotations. Any advice on how to manage this better while I'm levelling guys...? I won't be getting Haste if I keep this up lol!

That seems kinda weird anyway, as a Katana is a 2-handed weapon in most cases (no shield), so you would want a Wakizashi as the 1-handed counterpart. Unless you strap a buckler onto your off-hand, but that's not what the powerset is really, from all the animations, eh.

I've actually gone Psionic Melee, mostly for thematic reasons (tanker is called Psycho Maiden :). Not sure if that's a mistake, not many ppl seem to like PM, but so far so good. Plus I'm focusing more on Shield/tanking, so will prob need to dip my toe in the grouping waters at some point, ahem. Terminally solo carebear here! 👋 ---- Had my first full team tanking experience today! Me & one other tank, with blasters, defenders & controllers/MM - total mayhem! Just a low-level mission, but I went up almost 3 levels in under 10 mins lol! And I didn't die once he he - only got down to half life at one point due to a particularly nasty red bone daddy. 😄

So what pairs best with Shield for a 'natural' tanker? Axe, Broadsword, Katana or War Mace...? Ideally also a 1-handed weapon to go with the shield theme ;). Otherwise, if some other secondary pairs a LOT better with shield than any other weapon-based one, please let me know!

Good stuff! However...my Basic Bob (all natural SS/WP tanker) is as basic as they come - he just works, so he is the best! All in black spandex, about my age (late 50s), receding i.e. no hair left. But he's tough and don't take no shit from anyone! Even has a big, fat 'B' on his chest, a permanent smile on his face that either belies, or perfectly captures his intellect! 😄 Also, 'B' is for BEST! 😜

Wow, long thread! I've only dabbled in a few Tankers to date (more of a ranged/pet afficianado!): WP/SS, Bio/Dark, Inv/Fire(from my live days - got this one to 30 or so from memory). A couple brutes I tried I just couldn't warm to, but tankers could be more my style for super-safe, if not fast, solo levelling. And therein lies the rub: I mostly, if not exclusively solo, so whatever I pick needs to have the chops to: A. be fun, enjoyable, not too slow & not constantly at death's door levelling SOLO B. be something I can build a theme costume & name around e.g. my recent WP/SS 'Basic Bob' I made for shits&giggles, pure black/white costume, older hero with the bald/recending hairline (like me lol!), big fat 'B' on his chest - but was a bit of fun for a few levels he he. I'd also prefer a 'heroic' build & theme, so I'm not just playing a stat-stick, eh. Ok, so Dark/Dark has piqued by interest - will that suit my solo tastes, or will I get frustrated in the tween/teens & 20s, like so many other classes? I really don't want a mainly endgame build, which I never get to, because I get bored & move on to the next AT/build. Did I mention I have rampant alt-o-holism...? 😉 Any/all advice on some tanker builds you guys have really enjoyed on soloing to 50 & beyond, much appreciated! Or is a Brute really the better way to go solo...?

So far so average for me...level 6 & not loving it. No aoe, only one control power so far. Which powers are skippable folks? I've gone down the path of Mighty Leap SJ (just for the theme + to try something a bit different from my usual Fly/TP). I think Lift is a must have early on, I also took Transfusion & Siphon Power, which may have been a mistake, not sure. I'd prob take Stealth next to get me through the trash in most missions, but if anyone has a good Mids file for a cheap Grav/Kin build (not so much endgame) that would be great, cheers!

Just made a Rad/Atomic theme blaster gal called "Raidioactive" (see where I'm going with that? ;). Anyway, so far so good, if a bit squishy, as you'd expect from a blaster. Will def be hovering high above most mobs (except for hit & run with powers like Irradiate). Shame no other AT has Atomic, as I really wanted a 'Nuclear' themed hero which kinda represents the Weak and Strong nuclear forces, call me crazy. Some great advice from experienced players in this thread, save me a some respecs if nothing else - cheers all!

Yep, my Ill/Dark troller just sits (well, hovers) back & does her nails, while her pets annihilate everything in their path! Most fights she only has time for one nail...;)

Because I'm a total Corruptor noob...? 😉 Although I'll end up with several more aoe powers than just TT, like the aforementioned Nightfall, Gale (yeah I know it's CC/KB only) and the 3 you recommended (FR, LS, Torn). Ok, so skip TC & DP, possibly grab Hurricane and/or Torrent, def grab Life Drain, gotcha. I think I read somewhere that LD was a mediocre self-heal, but to be fair, it's the only one in Dark/Storm, not including pool/epic powers, so yeah, will try it. Given respecs are pretty easy to come by (every 10 levels on HC, so 5 by 50, not even counting the other ways to get them), there's no excuse for not trying every power, unless the entire community tells you it's total rubbish, powers like Black Hole say (that's for my Ill/Dark troller, who I also love, along with higher level MM necro/dark, who may end up being my main main :). Struggling with END already now that I'm in the mid teens...what recovery enhances would ppl recommend? Scourging Blast over Malice of the Corruptor...? I only use the following toggles: Mystic Flight (usually turn off just before fights), Hover, Steamy Mist and Prestige Power Rush (with Celerity: Stealth, but only until I can get a Freebird: Stealth). All others are just SO 15s for now. Any advice? My rotation includes: Snow Storm, Tenebrous, Night Fall (for crowds), Gale (as needed), Gloom, Moonbeam (when charged up); also Nemesis Staff & Blackwand quite a bit currently to supp the main dmg powers. Survival hasn't been an issue at all, just END - and if I run out of that & all my toggles go off, it's usually lights out! 😉

I've just started a theme dark/storm corruptor & I must say, having the snipe at lvl 2 is amazing! The CC from Storm is also very complimentary. Prob my favourite ranged blaster-type character in quite some time.

This is the way I went with my Spider-Woman thematically :). But...I've since tried about a dozen different ATs/builds, damn alt-o-holism! Am actually back on a Time/Beam defender which could turn out to be a lot of fun, just not sure about aoe dmg potential, which might slow it down through the mid-levels, eh. But nothing comes close to my newly revamped necro/dark MM - total beast mode! 😄

Could you post link pls? Once I also got Dark Emp at 26 (Mids really needs an update for new necro), it was all downhill from there lol!

I think WS, now that I get the whole 'must find bodies' approach :). I think it suits solo play better overall. I only understood and can prob afford 1/10th of those set enhances and what not lol! But cheers anyway ;). Yeah, I've dabbled in SS & TP, SJ used to be my fave, but now on HC with full speed Fly + AB from level 4 it's no contest really ;). Thanks kindly for the advice & good cheers!
