Is this Heroic? Villainous? Or just Bad-Ass? :D
ArchVileTerror replied to Dynamo-Joe's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
How many people died, and how much tax-payer money did he just waste? -
Not just questions, ToxinFox. INSPIRATION for a storyarc that you could write! . . . hell, I'm even thinking of maybe writing a mission arc along those themes . . . hmm . . .

Ok, I'm having a senior moment here . . . I could have sworn this request had already been made months ago, and garnered some discussion. However, my search-fu has completely failed me. Am I losing more of my memory, or could someone else track down the thread and post a link to it, please?

Weekly Discussion 44: Arachnos Soldiers
ArchVileTerror replied to GM Miss's topic in General Discussion
I seriously need that facepalm Rep button already . . . ANYWHOODLES! I'm pretty happy with Soldiers of Arachnos. Their Inherent is a bit boring, but the Archetype's overall power is pretty solid. Just like Widows, it would be nice if the Soldiers could have a way to toggle costume slots between Arachnos uniform and regular outfits. Favourite Build is Huntsman; easy-peasy! And, of course, I would like to see gender parity on Arachnos NPCs out in the field. Official lore and concept art shows that it was always the intent to have male and female Soldiers. https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/14940-discord-weekly-discussion-week-36-arachnos-widow/?tab=comments#comment-158178 In fact, I think a lot of what was discussed in https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/14940-discord-weekly-discussion-week-36-arachnos-widow/ is probably appropriate here too. -
Huh. Ok. I was thinking this thread would be about its size or its animation time making it less-than-ideal. But, sure. Yeah. I think they should get around to making -every- Power IO'able.

Suggestion: Allow us to select content level
ArchVileTerror replied to Slithershot's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Ouroboros was said to be a concession for players who wanted to play missed content on high level characters. Whether that was a concession for technical reasons, or because the development philosophy on the Legacy game was still for-profit and they wanted to encourage time sinks, I do not know. All the same, I'm all-for more options for players to cater their playing experience to their own personal tastes (of course, with the caveat that their preference doesn't negatively impact other players, et cetera). I don't know the technical limitations which might hinder this idea, but if it's feasible, I'm for it. -
Weekly Discussion 44: Arachnos Soldiers

Fix the Backpack Bug, please. -
and not to burst your bubble any further, but Snark; you may want to do a quick Ctrl+F for "Jimmy" on the first page of this thread. It's not a detailed answer, but it can help you see where the Homecoming Team has prioritized their plans regarding your suggestion.

I already feel like there are too many incentives for otherwise pointless grind. I'd like to see some attention given to incentives for making and maintaining Alts, since that's definitely one of City's biggest strengths compared to all other MMOs. Granted, I wouldn't be against 7-slotting a single Power as an unlock for the next Incarnate "Power" that Homecoming adds. The higher up the Tier you go, the more Powers you can unlock for 7-slotting. That could be an interesting development.

I have a suggestion for a mod to the game...
ArchVileTerror replied to Wreckoning's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Supposed to, maybe, but there's a lot of things which sets City of Heroes as better for having "failed" to emulate from comics. Even still . . . yeah, I'm in the same camp as most folks when it comes to voiceovers in-game: Please no. If it were a player-side mod, sure. Go hogwild. But after experiencing the Galaxy City Tutorial, I'm quite confident that I do not want voiceovers in this game for my personal experiences. -
This latest page does rather invoke a question in me: What social factors exist in this setting which has people wearing what would be defined as fetishwear in our world, rather than entirely practical and professional attire? I know the out-of-character reason for it. But within the context of the setting, what in-universe justification is there for people running around in such outfits. It's a sociological and cultural question which I find deeply fascinating.

I'm all for it, and it would be nice to see some NPCs utilizing it too.

I do think a "Sweet Sixteen" Badge is a good idea, but not as the Anniversary Badge. Maybe we could have a little impromptu Event whipped up which awards a Badge by that name? "Energized" is also a good one, what with the impending Electrical Affinity, but sadly is already taken. Perhaps we can find another word to play off the upcoming Page 5 Update?

Yes. Check the Modding board here. If someone can track down the texture used by the effects you don't like, you could modify them to increase their transparency and make them invisible on your end.

They'd like to see Normal Play right now. Basically they want to see what'll happen when they launch to Live Shards with regular day-to-day activities. Just in case we get a repeat of the Tanker Taunt bug or the Phantom Army zoning bug. Things that could probably have been caught on Beta/Staging if people weren't more focused on "testing" high level play.

This thread has some official Dev responses on the subject: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/14462-could-we-please-get-these-costume-pieces-moved-from-dev-only The short of it: There is a "Standard of Quality" which the Homecoming Team want to reach before releasing any costume pieces from the NPC categories. If it's a priority for them, they're keeping it mostly under wraps as to who it is that's working on it and how far along they are. The present priority is asymmetrical costume limbs, as seen on the Test Shards.

I suppose Homecoming changed me too. It took me a while to think about, since I've mostly been operating the same as I did back in 2009. I still prefer the same Archetypes (although Stalkers are more enjoyable for me now, but they didn't really change in my priority list). I still "play" mainly to chat with people in Global Channels or to roleplay (granted, due to Death From Below, I've managed to get more characters over that level 10 hump . . . but conversely, that level 10 hump has been sanded down considerably by the P2W stuff, and I while I've got there a lot faster, my highest character is still only level 31). I still have many, many alts across many accounts (see previous point, but thanks to the accounts being free, I've not spent . . . $too-much-money this time). What's changed for me is that with the power of /ah I have finally been able to feel comfortable enough using the market as to earn suitable Inf to get IOs. I never broke in to either of those back on Legacy. I am still not a fan of the market in principle, but its convenience factor with being able to use it virtually anywhere has got me rather invested. I started small and innocuous. I never use Inspirations, other than very occasionally an Awaken-type. I learnt quickly that the Inner Inspiration Power from the P2W, however, was basically a free-money button back last April and May. All those farmers were paying through the nose for Good Lucks, and with my main alts, it wasn't hard to earn my first million selling those. By the time the Inspiration market had crashed, I had become used to living with millions of Inf, and was ready to move on to bigger sales. It makes my skin crawl . . . but the name of the thread is "Homecoming/Rebirth changed me." This is the way I've changed.

I may regret asking this, but any details as to why?

Interesting seemingly-mislabelled graffiti!
ArchVileTerror replied to CursedSorcerer's topic in Off-Topic
On Everlasting, I've seen Skulls in -every- zone. . . . some players roleplay as members of the Skulls gang. -
What about that one really big one which shows up in the northern part of the city some times? Is that one cute too?

Seasonal Events - Stay at Home Orders
ArchVileTerror replied to Troo's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Perhaps, but I imagine quite a few players would not appreciate having their Powers locked out from Exemplaring down. I do like the idea which has been expressed other places where the Atlas Park Hallowe'en Zone is -always- operating with the Hallowe'en Event rules, and that any enemies spawned in the Zone operate under the Always Level Appropriate Rule we see with other Zone-wide events like Invasions. -
You can run it if the Rogue is in a Hero zone, which temporarily flags them as a "Hero" as far as the Trial Launch window is concerned. Likewise with Vigilantes in Villain zones. But if you try to launch a Hero/Vigilante Team with a Rogue in it while in a co-op zone (Group Bases included) or a Vigilante in a Villain/Rogue Team, then you will get an error message in your chat log saying something to the effect of "So-and-so can not be teamed with."
