  1. I've been working on a melee-heavy Plant/Savage Dominator and I'm trying to kinda finishing touch-tweak the build a bit. So far, it's been good, opening with seeds and then dashing into the fray (and, later, presumably, Feral Charge-ing into the fray). The slight hiccup I'm running into is trying to determine if I can effectively perma-Dom without sacrificing some of the concept ideas I have. For reference, the precise build plan is below. What I'm especially trying to figure out is getting a third melee attack from one of the Power pools. Originally, I took Air Superiority, since, well, Air Superiority is pretty rad, but it maxed me out on pools, meaning no Hasten, and thus, no Perma-Domination (I'm not sure I'm hitting it anyway, but I think I am). So since I dipped into fighting anyway, I figured I could take Boxing and Kick, ignore one and slot the other. Currently, I have Kick as my choice because I've come to really enjoy having Knockdown in all my attacks, however, some of the numbers in Mids' Reborn have me wondering about whether it's the best choice. How does Kick compare to AS, or even to Boxing, when both the initial Fighting attacks are taken. Also, is Kick Knock*down* or Knock*back*? I've seen data that goes both ways. For anyone who did look at the build, can you think of any ways I can switch back to AS that would also let me keep the equivalent of Stealth (in terms of defense and slotting options) without having to use Hover?
  2. Not to take away from the achievement of it, because I'm pretty friggin' sure I couldn't have done it, but this does make me wonder: I know the AVs are supposed to scale to team size during iTrials, but do they have a certain minimum? Like did y'all handle a Marauder made for 8? Or for 6? Or for 3? Etc.
  3. I wouldn't mind an approach that looked into this, at least. It kinda solves the problem that you hit in, say, Martial Arts, where there's really just no reason to take, say, Thunder Kick. I recall Castle (or one of the other powers devs) in the old days saying something along the lines of "you should never look at a power in your primary or secondary and view it as the 'skippable' one". I'm not sure that's the perspective of the current team, but it's one that I, personally, rather like.
  4. It's actually up a rank from when I saw this linked from elsewhere, earlier.
  5. So, it's astoundingly easy, I feel like, to out-level the story arcs in Praetoria (using baseline XP, to be clear), and the various stories each build into each other. Hit 16 in Imperial City, for example, and there go any arcs you didn't unlock, as well as the Moral Choice mission (which is, in most cases, the climax of all the previous arcs together). It's unfortunate that the hard caps on doing the missions are so low. Would it be possible to slightly raise the caps? It doesn't have to be by a huge amount, just enough to leave some breathing room? Say, from 10 to 11 in Nova Praetoria, 15 to 17 in Imperial City, and 20 to 24 in Neutropolis?
  6. Sorry if I'm missing something, but is the "Quick Form" passive supposed to be ineffective currently? Snipes showing their base damage depending on whether it's turned on or not, but are showing their extended cast time whether I'm in "quick" or not and DPA is being applied according to long number. I also haven't played with things much but IIRC, damage on Snipes is supposed to scale to To-Hit now, correct? I don't see that applying either, but I'm not sure if I'm missing something, or misunderstanding the current application of mechanics.
  7. THIS IS THE LAST, BEST, FINAL PROGRAM BY AARON WALKER HIMSELF. EVEN IF PRAETOR BERRY KILLED HIM, HE'LL NEVER BE ABLE TO BE BETTER THAN WALKER. REMEMBER TO TELL THE WORLD. BERRY IS A LOSER. AARON WALKER WAS THE MAN. Damn, after all these years, that still makes me tear up a little.
  8. Honestly, it's the LTs that are the biggest pains to me. Get more than one triggering Vengeance, and congratulations, you're going to be whiffing for the next however many minutes Nemesis Vengeance lasts. And woe be unto ye if you didn't move the mobs apart...
  9. Okay, so since this topic is branching out a bit, I'd love to know folks' takes on fighting Nemesis. I love them as a story faction, but find them soooooooooo tedious to fight on all my characters. You've got LTs stacking Vengeance on each other ad infinitum unless you pull each mob far from every other mob on the map for massive Defense and ToHit, snipers drawing extra groups' worth of aggro while they're out of range of anything you can do to them, and Fakes doing their whole "untouchable" thing unless they're under heavy control (and I mean heavy, since their inherent force fields when active increases their protection too). Is there anything that doesn't make those guys a chore to fight, short of scaling the difficulty back to x1?
  10. Mangle stays full villain all the way up. The point of his character arc seemed to be that while the heroes saw him as a victim of circumstances, ultimately, he just liked his various revenge-on-society plots to the point he wasn't ever interested in being "saved".
  11. I was running the Ubelmann the Unknown arc on one of my alts over the last couple of days, and it wasn't quite what I expected! It's now (back to) having the 5th Column as the enemy group, rather than the Council, and Ubelmann himself is an Elite Boss. Was this something the original dev team did after the 5th was brought back to the game (it's been a long time since I did that arc), or was it added in by the HC team to add some variety to some of the older contacts? And if the latter, are there any more old arcs that have been tweaked like that? Just curious.
  12. Thanks. Bummer, but thanks. I was thinking of actually trying it on this new character for the variety, but if that's the case, I guess I'll put it off again.
  13. Curious on this one, too, how does the "Core" side of the Control Hybrid interact with Terrorize? And does it work with pets? With an Illusion controller, those are kinda bread and butter, and whatnot.
  14. Martial Assault's Explosive Shuriken a Single Target attack with a bit of splash damage (like Electric's Thunderstrike). So it wouldn't work as a nuke. At least personally, too, I'd hate to see the gimmick dropped, so yeah, my take on it would just be to have it be a t8. An unarmed Typhoon's Edge could work okay as a nuke animation, though, too. I'd take either, at this point!
  15. Fair point. Because of the stance initial post, I was thinking more of leeching than griefing (since a zone cap makes leeching self-defeating, ultimately). Then again, I don't see many griefers, either. Maybe I'm just lucky and/or about to jinx Everlasting's raids. But from that perspective, I can see how an instance does make a touch more sense.
  16. I mean, would it make a difference? You have 50 people in the Hive or you have 50 people in the LFG/instance. Either way, if someone's dual-boxing, you have someone else not getting in. It makes more sense to have an instanced MSR (though on my main server of Everlasting, it doesn't get used anyway) because the zone is used for other things. But the Hive/Abyss are basically a Hami instance in and of themselves anyway.
  17. I had a similar idea for a "throwing weapons" set, only my thought (which granted, would be slightly less viable) would be to move up the Martial Assault version of Exploding Shuriken and have a more "proper" nuke that would be something like a rain-of-shuriken power. Using the animation for Bullet Rain from Dual Pistols (only without weapons in hand) could probably pull off the idea of throwing a bunch of stuff into the air, but there would, admittedly, still need to be some sort of visual for them landing/raining. That said, while I'd like a nuke of some sort, I'd take what I can get for a set that lets me play a "natural" Blaster/Sentinel without the redraw limitations on animations.
  18. So I was part of a discussion on this in-game last night, and I just thought putting it into a more public forum could be fun, but it's notable that all the various "Lore" powers use generic-type enemies that nonetheless only show up one at a time when summoned. Which leads to a potentially interesting alternative: what about Lore sets using named NPCs? Maybe, like, one for each faction, or something? A "Hero" Ally tree with Faultline, Fusionette, and Penny Yin, maybe, (or Dillo!) or a villain one with Maelstrom, or Dr. Graves, etc. Maybe one for Vigilantes, one for Rogues, too? I feel like it'd be more fun than generic minion A and generic minion B.
  19. I had no problems at all for the last week or so, but today, the spats started up again. 4 over the course of about half an hour, after which I left the house, came back in the afternoon, and had no issues until maybe half an hour ago during which I've got the boot 5 more times. I tried swapping my connection during the morning spat, using a hot spot instead of my home network and the boots still happened, so it's hard to imagine it's a problem with my ISP. EDIT: So upon further playing around, I tried the VPN solution that I saw mentioned in this topic and elsewhere...and it appeared to work. It honestly kinda surprised me since swapping ISPs didn't, but, whelp. Not sure if this is because there are spikes on my end but the VPN stays connected, or something. I rust runnro, Raggy. Heck, it could be coincidence, but I did 2 runs of nearly an hour each with no issues until I disconnected from the VPN and re-logged, at which point I was dropping in just a couple minutes each time again. VPN isn't a great solution for me since I have limited bandwidth; it's more than enough to play CoH alone, assume I plan to play less than 15 hours per day, but obviously, multi-tasking would cut into that (and I often work on stuff in the background). But at least until more information can be determined/a fix can be made, it might be the only route available.
  20. Isn't it? Last I checked, all the Blaster secondary powers that ticked an Absorb effect put the little "+50" (or whatever number) above your head every time it ticked. The self +Regen powers don't (since they don't produce specific ticks of such), and I believe when I checked, Cauterizing Aura (which ticks a heal, rather than an absorb) actually didn't if you were at full health, but the Absorb ones do.
  21. Does this also mean not always having a little number ticking over my head every couple seconds? 'cause I'd be all over that.
  22. I mean, I doubt Tankers are getting the majority of their damage from their primary either.
  23. They really don't. And I say that as someone who spends a lot of time playing a Widow...there's already very few things that they don't do extremely well, I don't need even more excuses to feel like "might as well be playing my Fortunata instead" when I jump onto other characters.
  24. There isn't a defense set in the game that provides enough Toxic resistance for such a dream to be viable.
  25. It's funny that Eviscerate has never bothered me much, but this is how I feel about a ton of other sets. There's, like, a "this just kills the set" animation for me in the form of one notable power from pretty much every set. Animation option increases all around, please.
