Focused Feedback: Snipes and Dominator changes
Tater Todd replied to Leandro's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Now on to my Favorite Dominator Secondary Earth Assault. Now I must tell you my favorite /Earth combo is Electric/Earth but after trying out Earth/Earth for testing purposes....I'm in love. It's like playing a ranged Brute! I will definitely make one once these changes hit Live. Testing Earth/Earth: Power Boost: Excellent change. It added the usual utility but with the +dmg it should make this power work well with other Primaries Stone Spears: FINALLY, the version of this on live is HORRIBLE the user is left standing there not being able to do anything after using this attack. It doesn't flow with combat the dmg was horrible and we are forced to take it. Thank you for the change. Everything was syncing up for me when it came to the audio of the power, impact and effect :D. Tremor: Like what I said about Total Focus. This power just feels amazing now and the audio of the power, impact and effects all matched up with the new animation. I was one of the few idjits that took this power on live and now I won't look so much like an idiot >_>. Heavy Mallet: Matched up perfectly but it felt more like it's own individual power instead of it always feeling like a second chain of Stone Mallet. This will make it more desirable for high recharge builds. Hurl Boulder: Woah! This power isn't absolute garbage anymore! It truly feels as hard hitting as it always sounds for once lol. You guys are kinda sneaky. I can tell you are testing stuff out on Doms to see how it is received before you port it over to other classes :P. I don't blame you. Powers like Total Focus, Hurl Boulder and Energy Transfer needed love for quite some time. When it comes to bugs this power has a few. The animation of your removing a chunk of Earth is somewhat smooth and you can tell it's faster than the live version but sometimes it slows which seems to throw off the final "heave-ho" of the rock. Sometimes it seems like your hands are soapy and the rock slips out towards your foe at break neck speed. Other times the "removing a chunk" of earth animation will slow a bit depending on their location, previous power animation or range (This power must be a combination of two separate animations?) causing the impact to fire on your foe before the boulder even halfway makes it to them. I also noticed the boulder veering off in another direction only to find it's way home in your foe's squishy chest. The same thing is happening with Animate Stone's animation of Hurl but at least he no longer gets stuck in a trance after using Hurl Boulder. In closing even with the weird animation issues of this power on Beta I would still take this power w/o hesitation because it's soo much better now. Makes me look forward to testing out Thorny Assault! Again, I can't wait to try this build out on Live. Thank you again for your work on Dominators 😎 -
Focused Feedback: Snipes and Dominator changes
Tater Todd replied to Leandro's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
As a Dom lover I'm going to try my darndest to test all of the changes! So today I started with Energy Assault and correct me if I'm wrong (I always wanted to try Energy Assault on live but the KB was a Turn Off for me) Is it normal for The Tier 9 ability: Power Burst to not play any SFX when it misses? Currently on Justin you can't hear a sound from the power if you miss your target. Power Boost is giving the correct values and the SFX are matching up. I love the new cast time for Total Focus. If it was up to me it would be even quicker haha but the animation, impact and SFX matched well with the new change and the same can be said about Power Burst besides one when miss with the power. Power Boost actually feels more like a T9 compared to the current version on live. Sniper Blast was working fine as well. I'll try my best to test all of the Dominator changes! -
/Signed as well. I know this would never happen but I would love to play as a Mu Character Model as well. I have two Rikti toons and a bijillion Troll, Freak, Mu, Skull and Hellion toons. Ignore the Hellion and Skull request though. I can easily pull that one off in game even though some of the Skull AVs look badarse.

Focused Feedback: 64-Bit Client
Tater Todd replied to Leandro's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Okay, so I'm not tech savvy so bear with me. I encountered a tremendous amount of lag in Talos Island while I was hanging out near the Merit Vendor. I think the lag has something to do with the PhysX engine. I noticed the more leaves that fell from a nearby tree the further my ping dropped. In fact it dropped so low that the game crashed when I tried to flee to the Talos Island Transit Station across the street. I also noticed that once I turned around and moved about ten feet back towards the Transit Station the game would have a brief ping hiccup and return to normal. I believe my settings on BETA is the same that it is online...tuned up to Ultra for everything graphics wise. I didn't encounter this PhysX issue anywhere else in BETA 64 but I can go to different places with trees in COH to further test it out if you like? I also hung out at the same spot on live just a few minutes ago with no PhysX issues whatsoever. The issue also might be my small amount of RAM or Graphics card. Running: Intel i7-6700k 16.834 GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Windows 10 64 Bit My FPS info is at the top right of my screen. -
Focused Feedback: 64-Bit Client
Tater Todd replied to Leandro's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I'm using the 64 bit client and I have not seen anything crazy yet. The game looks and run great btw. Like many have said a Hamidon or full Mothership raid would be a good test. -
Focused Feedback: Snipes and Dominator changes
Tater Todd replied to Leandro's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
To all wanting this topic separated. I think they combined the two topics because in all honesty a lot of my fellow Doms kinda took over the Snipe thread including myself lol. It was mostly because Dominators had a harder time than other classes when it came to meeting the requirements for a fast snipe. -
Focused Feedback: Snipes and Dominator changes
Tater Todd replied to Leandro's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I agree that Chilling Embrace should have some kind of -Damage component in there since that power alone turns your Dominator into a Frozen Aggro magnet. I know you can use your primary and eventual Epic Pool for mitigation but all too often the -Recharge in Chilling Embrace it's not enough. Thank you for the changes btw! I can't wait until I get on Beta to test things out! -
Thank you! I thought I switched back to the right manifest after the outage but I guess I did not!

This is amazing news and now I know why you guys were so quiet! (I was SEVERELY worried) I can't wait and even if it becomes for profit I would gladly pay.

I main Redside and I would suggest picking Black Scorpion as your Patron. He has the easiest arc to get through. Once you finish the Arc you will be awarded a free Respec which will give you access to ALL of the Patron Powers including the Mu Mastery ones. After that is done you can safely switch back to Blueside 😄 .

Khan, here's a list of some of the biggest issue that I see with new Dominator players as well as new Controller players... Folks tend to start off with their group Immob...NEVER EVER start off with your Immob unless there are unique circumstances going on. Controllers can get away with it SOMETIMES if they have support heavy secondaries but even then that's not always the case if you are fighting nasty enough mobs. I won't get into the What If's and other grey areas...just for now focus your Single Target Mezz powers and secondary until you get your first group Mezz or Hold. Once you get your PbAOE or AOE Mezz power use it after the Tank or someone else gets aggro. If the power has good Acc and Recharge and Domination is up you may lead off a fight with this power at your own risk. Once you get higher level you will have more tools at your disposal to better lockdown or destroy mobs. Dominator builds tend to bloom later on compared to Melee classes so take things slow. Use Domination in conjunction with your Mezz powers and heavy hitters for that extra boost. Once you get close to Permadom levels click it whenever it is up. Fight smart and use you Dom combo to overwhelm and annihilate foes. If you're playing an Electric Control/Stony Assault Dominator don't play from range...unless that your thing. Just play to the nature of your build. Some don't and still make it work. It comes with experience and trial and error I guess. If you simply must use your Mezz on a tough group try to use it behind a wall or jump behind a wall for cover so you can get your bearings and to catch your breath before the angry mobs comes over. Once you get the feel for the AT and the Primaries and Secondaries you will be duking it out just like melee toons! Hope this helps! 😄

For those who don't play Redside - why not?
Tater Todd replied to Legree's topic in General Discussion
As a person that has been painted as a villain since birth I find the lines between Hero and Villain are greatly blurred. I like to play redside for the same reasons that PaxArcana mentioned, also think about this...most people are not Empathetic or caring of others be it a total stranger or someone they know unless the person is extremely close. Most humans lean far more to the Vigilante, Rogue or Villain side of things rather than a Hero. Pretending to be something you're not on game won't change your true nature...come...join me...embrace the darksidse join redside 😈. -
At the rate that a lot of technology is improving I'm surprised that the free software didn't surpass the older 6 to 7 year dated forums. Regardless, I don't care if the only way to communicate with each other was through oldschool ICQ or through Aluminum Cans and String. I'm just happy and thankful to be able to play the game again!

I love this new Forum! The old one has a lot of memories but it left a lot to be desired! I think the SMF Forum was lower quality than the original forums!

I actually love this new design. I'm glad there's a way to vote on someone's singular comment or post.

Bring Back Galaxy City from release
Tater Todd replied to wjrasmussen's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I too always started in Galaxy because.. I'm an introvert and I like to go to places with less people I was using an old computer that simply could NOT handle all the folks in Atlas park be it a costume contest, RP'ing you name it. Galaxy City was my home! It was grittier and more realistic You could start slugging it out with Hellions and Vahz immediately I loved the writing for that zone Did I mention that I don't like people? lol -
Also, last time I checked Targeting Drone should also give you added recharge on top of the added damage you will receive for having such high +To Hit for rolling /Devices.

Trickshooter's Buff Trick Arrow 3.0!
Tater Todd replied to Trickshooter's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I actually would LOVE to hear your opinion on Tactical Arrow in this thread or another thread. You immediately came to mind when I saw that Secondary and I wondered how you felt about it lol. -
I just wish the Snipes worked without any outside help like all of the other powers in our powersets. I understand your frustration but I'm not going to Boo the Devs yet until I see the future Dominator changes... If I don't like them I shall Boo them accordingly lol.

So I didn't bother to take the Snipe on my Dominator but I figured I'd answer with options anyway. So first off the Tactics + Kismet option that Blasters, Defenders and Corruptors can use doesn't work for Dominators. Base Tactics is 7.5% for Dominators which is insufficient for Perma-Snipe. However Dominators can get Mind Link and Tactics + Kismet + Mind Link is sufficient to get to 22.1% (assuming 3 SO equivalents in Tactics and Mind Link). Side Note: Power Boost doesn't affect Mind Link, Pine's is wrong in that regard. Now there are a few other options that don't require building for Perma-Mind Link. Tactics + Kismet gets you close enough that a small Yellow will put you over the cap. Sure it's not permanent but for solo play you have plenty of inspirations so using yellows (and converting spare inspirations to yellows) isn't that difficult. Also while Power Boost doesn't affect Mind Link it does affect Tactics so Tactics + Kismet + Power Boost will give you 15 seconds of fast snipe which should be enough to get two snipes off. Finally if you stick the Gaussian proc in Tactics it will go off about once a minute so you can fast snipe when that happens. That just sounds....AWFUL and Restrictive. I knew about the yellows helping with To Hit but that's not guaranteed 100%. So why do people think this current way of using Snipe is ideal on Dominators again? OR are most folks only speaking from a non Dominator viewpoint? I'm like you Adeon I just end up skipping my Snipe on most Dominators.
-
Sorry Tater I'm not looking forward to this change, unless they're giving us all a thumper blast with the damage snipe is now which ain't happening. Only /fire's snipe you can't get insta with any real regularity on your own, all other secondaries that have the snipe can adjust and maintain their tohit to frequently be above the threshold, so to me we're just catering to dinosaurs who can't make minor adaptations to have the best of what they can be as it is currently. Feel like they're opening a huge can of worms here. What of all the other deserving underperforming powersets across all the ATs? Or are we going to spend some more time nerfing far more unbalanced power sets? I'd much rather see new Control and Secondaries, new strike forces in the vein of Apex and Tin but harder and maybe fully level shifting you, more incarnate powers and trials to use those powers on. That's what I would be looking forward to had they mentioned getting the ball rolling on some of those things, but we gotta get those snipes nerfed. I do agree though I'm anticipating what the revamp is going to look like on all the secondaries. Just hope they don't break anything. What's a Thumper Blast? I'm one of those Dinosaurs I'm afraid :'(. So how is everyone doing it on Dominators? I can't figure it out for the life of me. Dominators are sitting at 75% To Hit at their base and Tactics only adds 9.41% +To Hit and Kismet Accuracy only gives me +6% which equals out to 90.41% +To Hit which is 6.59% shy of Insta Snipe no? I'm trying to figure out how to do this on my Dark/Dark Dominator btw. Now to get me to that 97% I can use Accurate To Hit Buff Procs like "Siphon Insight: Chance for +To Hit" which gives me +17 To Hit! Or I could use the "Gaussian's Fire Control: Chance for Build Up" Proc which gives me a whopping +34% To Hit BUT the big issue here is that you have can't depend on the little golden circle highlight around your Snipe when you actually have enough To Hit. On my Doms I would see the Golden reticle show only for a split second when the Gaussian proc fired or it would show when the To Hit buff wasn't there. It came down to server lag + the game showing that I had the +To Hit buff even the my to hit buff window had passed OR not yet arrived (It's not my connection or my computer btw. I am able to play Elder Scrolls Online with no issue). That was frustrating and made me not want to bother with using my Snipe. Keep in mind things get even more frustrating when fighting Circle of Thorns, Tsoo or Banished Pantheon. So the question I have for the Dominator players who get it...who are not Dinosaurs like me how are you constantly getting 97% +To Hit without having to lock yourself into always taking Tactics or a Defense power? Is there a +To Hit accolade out there? Or a Day Job that awards a sufficient enough amount of +To Hit? How do you have space to slot Accurate to hit procs all over the place? Are you using Incarnate powers to reach that 97% Mark and if so does that mean people should skip their Snipe until lvl 50?
-
I think the To Hit change on live would of ended came to this exact conclusion that we are at now. The "+To Hit = Perma Snipe" fix was a temporary fix at best. Once you were against mobs who constantly lowered your To Hit everything was out the window. Oh and I'm trying to be patient but I am far too excited about the Snipe and Dom changes. I don't know how everyone else is keeping it together but I am going mad with anticipation lmao! *claws at face*

Oh yeah, I've teamed with him a lot. He's a good player and Yeah Stalkers can make amazing Tanks surprisingly. My Nin/Nin ended up tanking a lot for some reason.

Water Blast would work very well with /Plant as well as Radiation Blast since Radiation Blast has two PbAOEs also maybe Dual Pistols and Fire. Dual Pistols have the most Toxic dmg out al all the Primaries. /Plant much like /Thonry Assault doesn't mesh well with anything (except with Plant...kinda) but that didn't stop me from making a Thorn Dom and the -Def gives you plenty of opportunity to slot Achilles Heel Procs.
