Build Request - Savage Melee & Regeneration
Yomo Kimyata replied to Stunticon_Mechanic's topic in Scrapper
Savage Melee and Regeneration don't have any particular synergy together -- they are both good sets but don't work particularly well together. I would look at the power and epic pools closely (I think Force of Will would be a good choice). Also, I would try to put a knockdown proc in your AoE attacks -- that will give you a little bit more of breathing room for defensive healing! -
A toddler doesn't have to understand physics to catch a ball. If you play one way for awhile, then play another way (and remember objectively how it went the first time), you can figure out what works best for you without one lick of mathematics.

Ever come back to a AT + Power and find greatness?
Yomo Kimyata replied to Snarky's topic in General Discussion
I have many, many, (too) many alts. Most of them were made for one purpose or another and got shelved for one reason or another. But sometimes I come back to this game after a break and find myself looking at things with fresh eyes. For example, I've been looking back into Force Fields lately. I'm a melee player for the most part, but I've put together a few characters that thematically worked with the powerset and whatever vision was in my mind's eye at the time. All of them well predate the FF set boost and the power creep that allows us to get powers earlier and skip the T1 of our secondary. Nemesis Interrobang (lvl 47 FF/Energy Blast Defender): Was always a solid solo play, but since I never wasted time or inf on Sudden Acceleration procs, it was mostly a very fun knockback build. Super tanky, and with some quirky power choices (I generally like to try out every power in a set at one point or another. Yes, I used Detention Field!) So I dusted Nemesis?! off and gave him?! another shot. On the revamp, it's significantly more damage-dealing with the -35% damage resistance from Repulsion Bolt and Force Bomb. The Damping Bubble debuff resistances are crazy overkill, imo, and has me re-examining my pool choices. I expect this build to solo +4/x8 content handily by 50 just like my melee alts, although I'm still feeling out the differences in build strategies for a defender v. .scrapper. ?! Heir Apparent (lvl 18 Water Blast/FF Corruptor): This was a solo challenge toon that I was playing on Reunion. It was a mixture of Ironman and no /AH -- Heir Apparent could only store and use anything he or she found or made in a base that was headed by Estate Executor (lvl 7 Time/Dark Defender), but if Heir Apparent was defeated, they were deleted (along with everything they were carrying at the time, including slotted IOs), I'd make a new alt named Heir Apparent and Estate Executor would give them access to the vault. I think this was my third or fourth attempt by the time I got distracted. They were all **/FF corruptors for the Personal Force Field, because so many of my defeats occur when I am AFK and that helped a lot! But I got bored and moved on -- doubtful I will replay but I'm thinking about making a new corruptor or two without the ironman restriction. Brush With Divinity (lvl 24 Fire/FF Controller): Part of a themed villain group. I've actually spent some time on her lately because the damage resistance debuffs will make leveling trivial. I really enjoyed controllers on Live but I'm kind of "meh" about them so far here. The fun part has been developing a strategy: "Hmm, this power's mez effect provides knockback prevention, but that one doesn't. Where do I have to use procs for -kb and so on?" Right now, slow offense with 6-slotted Hot Feet and not nearly enough endurance reduction! At some point I'll come back to the TA builds I have, also from before the TA set boost. The anticipation is terrible; I hope it lasts. -
Ever build just for maximizing incarnate effects?
Yomo Kimyata replied to Snarky's topic in General Discussion
Absolutely. It's the reason I almost always go for Radial Paragon Musculature rather than Core. A free SO in every endurance recovery power? Yes please; well worth giving up 12% damage. The Run Speed may not be particularly useful, but getting some to hit debuff help with anything dark is nice. Not to mention free defense debuff for any radiation or many handheld weapons. -
Build help: Elric of Melniboné - can Broadsword / DM be made work at 50+
Yomo Kimyata replied to ASLNDR1's topic in Scrapper
Love theme builds! Broad Sword remains one of my favorite sets, maybe from nostalgia. Paired with Dark Armor, you are going to have to focus your build around endurance management, which actually fits in nicely with the Elric concept since he frequently tired. One thing to keep in mind is whether you want your character to be wielding with one hand (BS) or two hands (Katana). -
Sounds like the solution is to cut the number of merits from Adamastor to zero then.

The Woodsman Trial, if run as "intended" is tremendous fun. However, it's design was gamed very early on and speed runs were taking ?10-15minutes? and that is why the merit rewards are so low. The devs could try to reprogram it to eliminate the speed runs (which speedsters would hate) but I doubt that will happen. For now I consider it a "fun" Trial but it's really difficult (at least for me) to try to put together a full team to just run it without speed.

Make enhanc converters less random.
Yomo Kimyata replied to captainstar's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
While we are at it, let's make every item character specific. That way there's no danger that ebil marketers, or anyone else who possesses rudimentary knowledge of math, or anyone else with a tiny bit of sticktuitiveness, can exploit any other players. -
I get kind of a kick when I team with one of my very small number of tanks. Some have taunt, some don't. I'm an awful tank, insofar as I don't run around tracking seeing which idiots are aggroing whom; I just smash and tanks have the absolute best damage to survivability ratio out there and it's not even close. Someone actually asked me, "Why are you such a good tank?" and when I was done smashing enough to reply I asked, "What the hell are the other tanks you play with doing?"

Are we talking about fresh outta Breakout, figuring out what DOs and SOs are and whether or not to 6-slot accuracy? Or stepping into IOs and wondering if a 5% recharge rate is worth an extra slot? Or advanced tips and tricks like how to get enhancements from the Secret Cow Level?

I'm not going to claim that the salvage section is the best part of the guide, but if you can buy and sell salvage at a profit, you can probably do it for everything else listed on the /AH! So, you are saying it tickles your funny bone?

Workshopping /Nature Affinity - slotting some powers
Yomo Kimyata replied to tidge's topic in Corruptor
I'd be surprised if this works, since I think there are different flags for endurance powers that affect allies v. those that affect enemies, but sometimes I'm surprised! That said, for Endurance Mod powers that are designed to affect enemy mobs, this is a great proc in my book. In and of itself, a 2PPM proc for an 8 second mag 2 stun is not useful. But if you are able to match it with other stun powers, you're cooking with gas. Boss stunning gas. -
Even though they say that you can run CoH on a potato, I have been unable to play this game without some sort of electric power, either AC or battery operated. So I guess powergaming works with every AT.
-
To be honest, I tend more to the "loads of fun" aspect. It's not like I'm getting paid to play this game.

I made a Dark/Dark stalker long ago as a fear/fear experiment. HOs are your friend when it comes to the Cloaks. I almost never 6-slot purples if all I get is toxic resist. Split Assassin's Mark 3-3 and put the proc in an AoE. Put Gaussian's proc in Build up and you won't need a recharge if you have Assassin's Mark proc in an AoE. I'd put a lot more slots in your defenses than in your offenses. I actually skipped Shadow Maul, but that may have been mostly in protest about changing the arc from 30 degrees to 120 degrees. I generally get KB protection from 3-slotting Fury of the Gladiator and/or Gladiator's Armor and use the 20% slow protection proc.

Defeat Black Swan, Find Her Power Source
Yomo Kimyata replied to Thorazine's topic in General Discussion
For reference, what do you use for a finding macro? I usually use "/macro T targetname sapper" and it is quick and easy to edit the target name to something else. -
This has happened to me many, many times and every single time it was because I screwed up the name rules. Too many ",". Not enough "!". Try something extremely similar and see if that passes muster.

I'm at the point in my life when I realize that as much as I want to work with other people, it kind of depends on them if they want to work with anyone. @Diantane came on the scene hot and bothered. We eventually accepted that. He seems to be mostly hot and bothered. What would you do if your child, or husband, or best friend said to you "Nothing to look forward to"? There are many answers to that, but not a single one is "bust their balls because I don't like what they do."

Your "main" was extremely overpowered at the time. If you chose your main because of that, well, you might want to choose another main. Currently Axe Melee is pretty overpowered, if that helps.
-
It is currently an incredible pool. Unleash Potential is maybe the most versatile power in the game.
-
It doesn't?
-
How about we cut Sorcery back from being so powerful? Change recharge on Rune of Protection to 10 minutes.
-
Let's rename it, hmm, Regeneration!

One of the things that keeps me tuning in is guessing which perfectly satisfactory power set is going to get reworked and made into the new top tier because one of the devs likes it but it isn't nearly overpowered enough for their tastes. This is a long shot, but I'm taking Fire Control in the betting pool. Let's add a 65% resistance debuff to Smoke and double damage from Imps!
