I do, but it's not pretty. NCsoft's peculiar attitude and position can be explained by a double-ended assumption: the current IP is next to worthless; even if they were to take it over, give nice bonuses to the HC Devs and put it back on the commercial market, it would likely be a financial failure. But. The IP in the larger sense is potentially quite valuable; CoX 2 has every potential to be a mega-game, GOTY, cash-cow, residuals-churning monster... just not now. Or next year. Maybe in five years, or ten; it costs NCsoft nothing to reserve all their rights while making the occasional stern face HC's direction. And if a superhero MMO never becomes a good idea again, even in some uber-VR/Ready Player One future... it costs them nothing to keep the chips under guard. (Written from the perspective of someone who holds a valuable key piece of a well-known IP... but subject to the control of a majority owner who has sat on it for 35 years in just this fashion, holding out for what might be profitable someday and unwilling to let it go cheap just because there's no interest or widespread piracy of the old material.) -

And this would be an improvement (or change) from the HC model... how? All I see is that a volunteer/donation model would be replaced with a corporation/profit model. I doubt the numbers would support any revamp or improvement of the game greater than what our talented and dedicated Dev team is already doing. I do find it endlessly odd that superhero sims are the red-headed stepchild of the gaming industry. I am boggled at the endless appetite for games in a small handful of genres; just how much hyperreal marine combat sims can you play? CoX leads the pack, at least in non-branded play, and has barely scratched the surface of what the genre can support. But no, it's all a dusty clearance bin while gamers buy Far Cry Halo Black Ops at first announcement... repeatedly. I see no gain in taking CoX back to that model. -
And again, just to bump those who don't jump on every post in Guides... I found an interesting glitch. If you buy the Base Transporter (a low, low 1M at P2W) and assign it to this one-key base jump... it has no cooldown. The 10m cooldown isn't too much of a hurdle and there's always the 30s cooldown of the Monitor Duty Teleporter, but the latter does use up charges you have to remember to collect. But, for some odd reason probably having to do with it firing before the key is released, the Base Transporter instantly resets. All the base-jumping you could want.

That's what I find on a lot of my alts. A second build would be so similar it's not worth the time and Enh's. But building a zero-human Kheld and an all-human one is two different alts. -

And I just found a nice little... bonus, no it's not an exploit, in this. If you buy the Base Transporter (1m Inf) and use it for this, you don't use up any of the chargeable TP powers. (I went from 30 to 15 just testing the binds a little). But wait, there's more... if you use Base Transporter, the bind seems to reset the power without a cooldown. That is, you fire the bind, Base Teleporter goes into ready mode, but apparently does not actually "fire" and go to cooldown after the base entry code is triggered. Free TP. Bwah-ha-hahhh. Also, I've found the Tilde key ideal for this — out of the way, but easy to hit and even easier to press-wait-release than a shifted key. Thus: /bind TILDE "+$$powexecname Base Transporter$$enterbasefrompasscode CODE-1234" And boy, writing these binds has been a PITA because half the powers use "Teleporter" and the other half use "Transporter." Grrrr. ETA: the 'no cooldown' is very sensitive to the length of the button press. It seems that you have to hold the key down long enough for the transporter to engage, then release and enter the base before the power realizes it's been called. Sorta. Hold the key too long, and it's a full cooldown period.- 18 replies

The only use I've ever found is for having both Squid and Human builds on a Kheld. If anyone ever wanted an Emp healer, I'd probably dual-build one for solo and teaming. But. -

Wasn't arguing against the request. It would all come down to a base save/load feature, I think, and the Devs could provide a growing string of standard models as volunteer designers want to build them. Or, I guess, duplicate one of the mega-transport-god-mode bases, too. But a basic base to store stuff and TP out of — very little time or skill needed as long as you don't mind it being bare-industrial. -
Just a side post since not everyone gets around to Guides — yes, the press/release trick works with the base teleporters. All five of them. Code the bind, and Press–wait a beat–Release pops you into your base. Details here.

Voilá: /bind CTRL+B "+$$powexecname [TP POWER HERE]$$enterbasefrompasscode CODE-1234" ...works with the three "instant" teleporter powers: Base Portal Monitor Duty Teleporter Long Range Teleporter and /bind CTRL+B "+$$powexeclocation 0:5 [TP POWER HERE]$$enterbasefrompasscode CODE-1234" ...works with the "place portal" teleporter powers: Supergroup Portal Rapid Response Portal Just edit one version of the bind for each base 'porter you want to use, include your own passcode, and done. Press... pause a beat... Release and you're in your base. Does not work with macros, sorry.- 18 replies

I think, but am by no means sure, that it's a combination of color and lighting. It would be master-class work, but you could also have two letters, one offset a hairline from the other. That would set an outside color on at least half the rim.

The ONLY thing that is difficult or time-consuming about bases is making them "pretty." You could open a new alt's base, add one large room and drop rows of storage units in about 15 minutes. -

A lot of forums add a "BBQ Pit" or "Flame Zone" where pretty much anything goes (except truly offensive attacks). Not sure they ever add much to the 'game' and this community is far from those that need such a feature. -
For those who don't do videos (as useful as they can be), the portal is just to the left as you enter, between the entry and the end of the bar. Small triangular hole directly overhead.
