Show your work. What location keyword are you using, etc.?

Reunion - Henry Peter Wong is running around in circles.
Shenanigunner replied to UltraAlt's topic in Bug Reports
Well, wouldn't you get a little antsy if you'd stood there waiting for n00bs to find you for so many years? (I do love these little glitches.) -
It's got a good beat, and you can /em dance4 to it.

So I picked up Return to Battle for all my active alts. Nice ace in the hole, especially when you go down most of the way through the final battle. But it's maddening, sometimes having a cooldown of 60 minutes and sometimes 120. Anyone else seeing that?

What is the dumbest way the game has confused you?
Shenanigunner replied to ninja surprise's topic in General Discussion
Only did the tram-exit once. But. Only did this once, too: played for my first hour or more without realizing what "level up" meant. I was at Ms Liberty for fifteen minutes actually training up to Level 6 or 7, I think. (And wasn't dumb about games... was just having so much wondrous fun running around beating up goons with my two powers I didn't think to think it all through... -
In fiddling around with the window scale utility, I found that it is no longer possible to scale tear-off chat windows. That is, if you detach any of the chat windows, they can be toggled using chat1 through chat4, but /windowscale no longer works with these window names. I am pretty sure this worked at some recent time.

Sparked by this conversation and a dull gray Saturday afternoon: Gunner's WindowScaler
-
A discussion over yonder sparked this: a popmenu for scaling all your UI elements without tedious slash commands. And a discussion in 2024 made me notice I'd never really finished up releasing this. It's now on the website with a complete installation and use guide. Pop the menu, select the window, set the scale. Done. Repeat as desired. (Note that I'm very open to adding all missing UI windows and elements to the list, if anyone notices one missing and sends me the window name!)

I Rest my case. Not sure why there is a delay on this power other than to keep you from mini-resting at great risk.
-
Project in progress. Does anyone know if there's a slash or option command to set the UI scale as if with one or both of the sliders?
-
Interesting, I didn't know about this... negative interactivity. The dual sliders are really a messy PITA, IMVHO. Set the scale once, as a starting point, and then use the window scale/save method forevermore.
-
It's pretty useless in combat since you're made quite vulnerable. I guess if you had a Defender bubbling you or something....
-
The biggest mistake most players make, IMVHO, is not scaling the UI elements individually to optimal sizes. Not everything has to be humongo or micro. Use /windowscale to set each UI element at an optimal size. Use /wdwsave to save the configuration. Use /wdwload to load the configuration if you mess it up. You can also use this to load the UI on other alts. And you can use named saves to keep separate UIs for each alt or different play modes. But it's not just arrangement... it's scaling.

A Question Regarding Power Controls and Disabilities
Shenanigunner replied to EyeLuvBooks's topic in General Discussion
Just gotta throw in that toggle-heavy alts can be greatly aided by movement-auto key binds. None of my alts have to remember to bring up shields, buffs, invis, etc. They can be a little tricky to set up, especially the first time, but not using them is just leaving Inf on the table. A trick I have come to use is bind E for forward motion with NO power activations. It's useful when you want to move around a social gathering, base, etc. without bringing up all your annoying bubbles and woo-woo noises and such. I implemented it for an alt with auto-steath so I could get a fussy hostage out of a map... You can also use another bind or macro to toggle the auto-powers feature off so that you can move around the zones etc. without being prepped for battle. Just remember to turn it back on... 😄 -
I tend to be more into the small technical details (whoda figgered, right?) and so the gameplay extensions, while wonderful, aren't my first choices. I'd say: powexec_location in general and then the extension to cursor Enhancement upgrade button Thumbtacking Innertube emotes ...and, as more than one has already noted, just damned being here!

I don't think it was taken that way. It's a good suggestion with arguments on both sides. I'd still lean to the balanced approach, but if even Naomi thinks a bugfirx release is a good idea...

Character log in screen - Incarnates
Shenanigunner replied to Techwright's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
There's been a general call for a full info panel with the login screen for a while. Not sure if it's just low priority or too difficult. -
To be faaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiihhh... I'd also vote for bug fixes as part of each development stage rather than occupying a whole release.
-
You can use /windowscale to set each window to an optimum size, which I always find much more useful/pleasing than one generic size. You do need to know the precise name of every window, but that can be looked up in the wiki or the Guide. And you only have to do it once, then use /wdwsave to save the configuration and /wdwload to call it back whenever needed. Much more on window and UI scaling in the Guide as well.

Positive Gamer No Longer Playing CoH, Very Horrible Story
Shenanigunner replied to Solarverse's topic in General Discussion
All I can say is, truth or no truth, drama or just-the-facts, Live or HC, day or night... this sort of thing is rare to the point of nonexistence in CoX. Which is a big part of why I am still here, pretty much the only game/community I engage, 15+ years later. Happy New Year to the best game community on earth.- 134 replies

A Question Regarding Power Controls and Disabilities
Shenanigunner replied to EyeLuvBooks's topic in General Discussion
Happy to help if I can; thanks @Glacier Peak for the recommendation. If you can manage keys and key combinations better than pointing with a mouse, binds will help a ton. For masterminds, I always put everything on the numpad keys and can call, buff, and direct pets in combat without ever moving my hands from the numpad on the right and movement/shift keys on the left. Would that be an easier interface for you to manage? If so, I will post my MM binds here (and get them into the Guide, a section I've never quite gotten around to finishing). Your case is special, but I have never quite understood why some people choose to play a high-speed version of whac-a-mole, even with macro buttons, when an easier and somewhat more intuitive option is available. -
And just think... you'd be a millionaire if you only had more money!

Imagine if CoH Were to Go Commercial Again
Shenanigunner replied to cohRock's topic in General Discussion
...makes my WASD fingers twitch uncontrollably, and honest, I'm not that much of a gamer. Glorious. I am holding out high hopes for the Borderlands movie. The casting is superb and the production hints are right up there.
