Nope. Like most emotes, any movement cancels. And there's no drifting, auto-movement, etc. [Pretty sure] not even rotating.
-
Presets? You mean besides SUPER WAYCOOL TRANSPORT BASE TRY IT NOW or DANCE DANCE YER TOON'S A$$ OFF?

Just popped over to Beta to test the new innertube emotes. For those who haven't: There are six: /em innertube1: strawberry donut with sprinkles. /em innertube2: chocolate donut with sprinkles. /em innertube3 : Neon green. /em innertube4 : Cow. sigh. /em innertube5 : "Naval Academy" (blue-gray camo). /em innertube6 : Lifeguard. /em innertube random selects/rotates among them. They have a slight sound effect on call. They only work in water deep enough for the alt to swim in — Ouro pool, Founders canals, oceans, etc. Movement cancels the emote; no, you can't scoot around in them. Bummer. This is a fun one. Thumbs up to the devs!
-
But Test is ephemeral. A release-level shard would be a different thing.
-
Since I'm always cheerful about collecting more thumbs-down on the point, I will note again that a completely separate shard with insta-50 might solve a number of problems and please a wide spectrum of players. Maybe access to the shard would be unlocked by getting an alt to 50 on any of the existing servers, just to keep it from being a newb/lazy player sink. But then, insta-50 on demand and it's all about end-game content for those players. However... alts can't be transferred in or out and the gameconomy is isolated from the rest of the shards. That would seem to address all the issues, both pro and con, and would ease up the pressure from the mad power-levelers on the regular shards (and the endless requests to streamline account gain so that getting to end-game is faster). But response to this already expected. 😄

Approach, that you might learn.

Okay. I'm surprised (I've admin'ed at least a half dozen forum platforms) but I'll take your word for it. And no, it's not worth more than a few minutes of admin/mod/developer time. But it does lower my regard for this platform a little further. I'm sure it was chosen for good reasons but I think many forum apps are better for both users and admin than this pretty little thing. 🙂 -
Yes, selling oranges is worth 1-2M. Which more than makes up for the loss of "wages."
-
Exactly. I keep a few 1M and 2M emails in the hopper for continuing SO builds and upgrades. And as you note, even full Inf to 20 is negligible... is it even 1M in all? Rather than run the trials, I try to find contacts, missions and hunting grounds I have not previously worn out, and run the fun mission arcs when they come up. But then, I already said I "play for play's sake" and don't get much from even exemp'ed team play with a new alt, much less the high-XP trials.
-
Even without a farmer piling up loot for my gang, I tend to run double XP until I hit 20. I like to "play for play's sake," without grinding in DFB or AE, but a bit of a speed run through those bottom levels, building the basic power set and getting comfortable with the build. I see it as a balance between the two extremes (organic grinding, which does get fairly tedious, or power-grinding, which IMVVHO misses the whole point of the game). And... if you've never blown from Level 1 to 2 with one (1) orange kill defeat, it's worth the giggle.

Thanks for all the replies on this. Boy, do I feel stoopid — I of course have a couple in my base. For some reason, DD's term threw me and I was wondering if I'd missed some essential base element. But I was just missing a few brain cells, apparently. 😛

I am off to have a little keychain fob made with the icon for a Restoration insp on it. You never know.

Kheldian Transformations - So very bright.

That affects everything, though, and in my experience makes the game look a lot duller. I don't mind most fx except right up in my goggles. I do have mimimum-particles bind for team combat, though.- 6 replies

You can eliminate the animation from the player POV with the suppress FX controls. I never used these until I built a Kheld a few months ago, and got tired of my view being blanked out and kinda blinding for several seconds. The FX are fine from other-player perspective and a distance, just not alla up in your own UI. /SuppressCloseFX 1 will turn on the suppression (turn off the FX); use 0 to turn them back on. /SuppressCloseFXDist [feet] sets the distance at which FX are allowed. If you set the latter to, say, 20 feet, and turn the feature on with the first command, you will not see your own FX within a camera distance of 20 feet, but will see them from further back. Experiment until you find a distance where the FX are tolerable to see (or set it very high, say 300, to completely suppress them.) I can toss up a couple of useful binds if anyone wants them.- 6 replies

Bugs are common with the secondary travel powers that originate in the pop-up tray. Drag it to a more accessible tray and have Null turn the pop-up tray back off. The whole pop-up tray idea, and all the powers that are attached to it, are not one of the better implemented changes. I've voted to get rid of the tray.

Another reason this platform isn't really my cup of Enriche. Heavy on the pretty, lite on the usability. 😛 But a free-edit period should be a matter of flipping a switch or two, and would be appreciated. -

The numpad is your friend. I originally developed a great set of binds for an emp healer using the keypad, wayyyy back on Live, and adapted it to my first MM. I don't know how anyone can play the AT using clickybuttons... it's like Whac-A-Mole on steroids. 😛 -

Custom macros/binds really, really improve MM play, and can be used to get around this UI issue. Just sayin'. -
I did that several times on Live, without using any of the current transport systems and with trams that didn't connect to all zones. I won when my player with zero XP danced in Portal Court.

I think you're conflating 2-1/2 different technologies, here. LCD (with lamp backlighting) and what's been called 'LED' for over a decade (LCD with passive or active LED backlighting) haven't been prone to ghosting, shading or burning for a long time. Old ones, yes, Early ones, yes, Cheap ones, yes. And any of the above used for things like permanent signage, display and kiosks will certainly start to shadow, usually after a year or more of continuous use. But I haven't seen anything like a "Nickelodeon burn" on an LCD/'LED' screen used more normally in a long, long time. The LCD shutter used in a projector tends to be even more resistant unless it's a really cheap unit. IOW, I can't see a few dozen hours of gameplay, even with a few fixed UI elements, causing any damage whatsover, any more than it does on a desktop or laptop screen using much the same tech. OLED, on the other hand, is a completely different technology, more the heir to plasma than anything remotely like LCD/'LED'. Yes, just like plasma, the display cells can fade and shift and thus "burn." The first few gens of OLED, especially in larger screens, were about like most early plasma displays in this respect and may never really get any better due to inherent lifespan issues with the pixel elements. But even NIck moves its bugs around now. 🙂
-
I'd say, of all the active players, YK knows what of he speaks...
-
LCD devices don't tend to burn. CRT and plasma do. Bulb and LED backlight life is finite, though.

I think this has been requested before and I am pretty sure the platform allows it... can we please have at least a brief editing window for posts that has no 'penalty' such as flagging the post as edited? It's really annoying to post something and notice anything from a typo to a missed parentheses to just one more thing that belongs in the post, and have to choose between leaving it, adding a new post or having the post instantly flagged as edited... which in turn means you have to remember to go put an extra line at the bottom, so the Edited by This Dumb Schmuck line doesn't run into your post. Most forums allow anywhere up to an hour of editing without the flag, and sometimes longer with an edit notice. Just five minutes, so we can fix small glitches without trashing up the post? Deliberate ETA: I doubt five or ten minutes or even a little longer would lead to any sort of abuse. (Now putting in extra line...)
