Map project v1 (Atlas Park & President Marchand's Office)
Clave Dark 5 replied to ZamuelNow's topic in Mission Architect
It's probably not every map that blocks this, just exactly the ones I had my heart set on, or were specifically called for by the story I wanted to tell; "can't tell a Mercy Island story using a Grandville exterior," for example. You know, because that's how it always works. 😄 -
Consideration of Knowledge (65341) - Use AE to learn AE
Clave Dark 5 replied to ZamuelNow's topic in Mission Architect
Whoa, I need to run this one and be ready to take notes. ETA OK, ran it, and I guess I've been here too long because I knew I knew most of this, ha ha. But, I have run arcs before by people who clearly didn't know this stuff, , it reminded of tricks and stuff that I'd forgotten, and I did make note of four newish things to me, so it wasn't at all a waste of time. Great idea and a good way to help out the community. -
Map project v1 (Atlas Park & President Marchand's Office)
Clave Dark 5 replied to ZamuelNow's topic in Mission Architect
I recently ran into the sad fact that many larger outdoor maps do not allow for allies/rescues (including one map that I know has such in the one of the game's story lines!) and I'm not really sure why. Was that some farming trick they had to clamp down on? So much of my work in AE is "hey, so here's my story, so let's put this on this map and... oh, it doesn't work or I can't. Now I have to reframe the entire story to try and put something like that on a map something like that." I figure so much of this is getting into the deep weeds and will never be addressed in any meaningful way... -
EXPLODING PLANET, arc 22784. A four mission Heroic story arc
Clave Dark 5 replied to sponazgul's topic in Mission Architect
Agreed: I said much the same in my comment: cute idea, well realized with fun touches along the way, and good costume work. I would however complain about map choices, just too big! Or the first and the last anyway, iirc. I failed the last one trying to find the last collectable. I was playing a pretty bullet proof tank and had some Invisibility as well so there was no concern for my health, and ended up circling the map I dunno how many times in the last say eight minutes and could not find it. Some of that is my bias however, I prefer smaller maps when I can to (as I see it) keep the story line streamlined and zipping along. It's a fairly small quibble overall though. I've seen some real animus towards timed missions on these boards before, glad that seems to have died down. -
The very few who are still hammering away with the incredibly janky system in the AE. (Acknowledgement: I am sometimes in that group, but more often than not, not, because of said janky system.) Some of these creators do it on a regular basis and take the time to discuss them as well, so good on them! Meanwhile, these works are generally ignored, I see many of them out there with the numbers of plays in the single digits after months. Probably because if it's not a farm no one interested, yet will run another Posi 1 for the trillionth time, numbers are king. Can you be an underdog in part of the game no one cares about anyway? Probably not, but they seem like the best to me.

Holiday 1 Billion Inf* Drop Ship Kill Shot

Stupid work schedule that keeps me from playing during popular hours... -
When following a build someone else made that has purples in it, I skip them, too costly imho. So what I then do is go to the wiki page for those IOs ("Ranged Damage" in this case) and then compare, as it turns out that most purple sets are "a lot like that other set, but with slightly bigger numbers." Figure out what that other set is, then slot that one instead; it might not be the same +10% Recharge, maybe only 4%, but you've saved yourself a ton for only marginal returns (again, imho). You can also look at the built and figure out what sort of bonus they were chasing (say, Recharge) and then pick the "non-purple set that amps that up. And of course, if it's just your build, you just scan down the list to find the best +Something to work towards you build goal.

I first played redside as a Stalker and appreciated how that freed me to wander about sight-seeing without getting attacked at every street corner, so that's my AT suggestion.

Let's Price A Deal the Saturday November 9th, 9:00pm EST

Just as much fun as the other times I've been there, and always sorry when I have to duck out early. Thanks for the hosting! -
This was surely intended to be ironic... That said, in the game, I've hardly seen anything toxic, except for maybe AEON runs. Every time I did one, I kept seeing team leaders berating people for not knowing as much as he did, which ha ha sure wasn't as helpful as he thought it would be. Perhaps I was unlucky and just got the worst people each time. Avoid that, or only run it with friends, and you should be golden.

Try looking for any sort of mission your level in AE without stumbling across bushels of poorly conceived, executed, and then abandoned incomplete farms wasting server memory. (Maybe we should have some sort of "name release" program the AE trash, but really that's small potatoes, The AE is only for farming and I know it.) ToT AFK leechers who're farming my playing. Imagine hopping into your favorite AE farm and finding others have invited themselves and you can't get rid of them while they door-sit siphoning off your drops. Any other farmers would be be livid if they coudl do that. Farming is so important that the Devs ignored other directions that they might go in and spent their rare volunteer hours (and yes, I do fully know that they are) to build and refine a whole farm map for 45+ characters, because farming as existed just wasn't enough somehow. Enjoy being the most catered-to players, you've won this battle! Now since every toon can be easily twinked out to the EXTREEEEEEME in a matter of hours, the Devs have to alter the game around us to keep it from being a dull cake-walk. Seems to me that that's some kind of tell, a clue that "something has gone wrong," that was ignored or misunderstood... See my sig, I think Matt was right.

Compiled Dev Choice Awards for HC. (ongoing)
Clave Dark 5 replied to TerroirNoir's topic in Mission Architect
Maybe like a book club, anyone can participate, "over the next two weeks, we're playing another dreary and confusing arc from Clave Dark 5 called, simply, Ugh. You have two weeks to go play and then we'll vote on including it or not." Hm... That voting of course unfortunately leaves room from developing bad blood, so you'd have to vote in private or something, "the board has decided to recommend SuperSteve's This Rocks Rock for [award]," without going into any posting that negative judgement of "we played Clave's and hated it.' So maybe that's a bad idea - book clubs don't hand out awards, just talk about what they did or didn't like about the book. And as a group they generally decide on what book to look at anyways. -
Compiled Dev Choice Awards for HC. (ongoing)
Clave Dark 5 replied to TerroirNoir's topic in Mission Architect
Somewhere in the past, maybe near the beginning of the year? Late last? Further back? I ended up being able to directly address a dev her eon the forums to highlight to still-ongoing problem with how everyone on a map speaks their "unaware" line when you zone in; they said they'd look into it... That's about all I have to offer right now. I do certainly hope for more... -

Compiled Dev Choice Awards for HC. (ongoing)
Clave Dark 5 replied to TerroirNoir's topic in Mission Architect
I've come to the conclusion that they don't really care. I mean, they just spent who knows how many rare volunteers' hours to create and refine the Fog farming level, I think it's pretty clear where their interests lie. -
Farming is boring. See my sig quote and suggestions for how to have more fun in this game than mere farming.

Were the Hallowee GMs also upgraded to match Jack and Eochai in Croatoa? I haven't seen a Pumpkin Patch! notification yet. The GMs now also spawn some themed soldiers (Streng et al for Eocahi, Hooligans for Jack), so do those too need to be cleared to let them respawn, like with the Unseelies? Follow up to that last one, Jack spawns a really large number of Hooligans, is that WAI? Just kind of weird is all. Oh, and bonus question: will the Halloween window decorations be back this year?

This Was Your Life...? [ID: 64453] Heroic
Clave Dark 5 replied to JKCarrier's topic in Mission Architect
I didn't see it that way, perhaps because I didn't see it coming. I thought it was kind of interesting, Anyway, well crafted mission well-presented, no swarms of typos or anything. Also blessedly free of Clues (this is a personal thing, and while I know how important they can be for getting across some parts of stories, I feel they really do just make everything grind to a halt when you have to stop and click to read them). -
Thoughts on Fold Space Etiquette on Leagues and Teams

I left myself one star notes on them last year, and I'm seeing them come out of the woodwork this year. So: yes. -
Thoughts on Fold Space Etiquette on Leagues and Teams
Clave Dark 5 replied to Excraft's topic in General Discussion
I've had it spoil many AoE attacks that my melee or even squishie toons were trying. No warning, no "hey yall, here comes FS" or "I'm going to be using FS ok?" or anything. It's a great power for making farming or soloing easier no doubt. I don't complain on those teams, I just quit them. -
I've leveled two semi-petless MMs and never had anyone say one damned thing about... except one jerk the forums.

Do you pay attention to what your team is doing?
Clave Dark 5 replied to Forager's topic in General Discussion
No! I am clearly only here for my own gratification, I don't even know why I team! This is not any ammner of a collaborative or social game, who gave you that wachadoodle idea?! Put them on ignore, right now! Yes I do pay attention to the team I'm on. I currently have an Emp I'm leveling and why would you run one of those and not pay attention ha ha I also generally run squishies and find min/maxing the hell out them (and playing such impenetrable cheats) flat-out boring, so I do have to pay attention in case others around me start falling, or even gasp need some help; even a blaster can help a failing player by trying to clear the heat off them. I've also taken to buying those ten-shot rezz powers from the P2W because I always seem to end up using them. I do understand this isn't a common playstyle anymore.
