  1. it’s best to have hasten and also enough recharge to activate dom without using hasten - helps when you’re idling or between mishes/TFs
  2. and it’s perfect for stopping Rommy/Requiem going for a jog during the third ITF mish!
  3. siphon power / FS: 2acc and 2 recharge does fine siphon speed: i’d go 2 acc / 2 rech for this, it’s surprisingly useful dominate: if you slot with 1 acc and 5 damage procs it becomes a genuinely strong power not picking up vengeance is a mistake if you ask me, slotting for 2 def on a defender makes it a very strong team buff for my kin/sonic i didn’t bother with many set bonuses or particular direction and it does fine, my advice would be to pick the sets you find fun as kin is so powerful nearly any build will play fine
  4. agreed - happens very often
  5. i think they’ve always been that way - i suppose people pay for the convenience/design. you can of course get a better value pre-built from more specialist companies though not everyone who wants to game is necessarily techy i built my first rig specifically for CoH back in 2005 and did the same again in 2019 when it came back! a lot less neon lights and gimmicks this time though haha
  6. what changes to stalkers have been made since the post? i’m a bit out of the loop on melee ATs
  7. i absolutely agree - if you’re looking to play a buff/debuff set why play anything else apart from the best? i also choose defenders as i want to play a certain role/mindset - on a defender i feel more “free” to focus on team support / enemy debuff without needing to invest too much in attacks getting the buff/debuff powers earlier is a great advantage too, some of the best game content in my opinion is before lvl 30
  8. how are you guys finding endurance on this combo? i’ve just rolled one as my third alt in 3 years and quite excited for it i see you’ve both chosen thunder strike, does it regularly feature in your attack chain or is it mainly for limited scenarios?
  9. that’s a good point - playing on teams where mostly everyone is able to afford a fully min/maxed build will certainly help with mission/TF progress
  10. i would argue that it’s a bad thing that characters are now more powerful - if people have become better at playing *and* characters have had a boost, that’s a double whammy of content being less challenging for me, the new Aeon TF on relentless was a breath of fresh air as it introduced challenge and success uncertainty into the game. in my opinion CoH is best as a cooperative / slightly strategic game rather than a superhero version of Killing Floor i’m playing much more redside lately to see if it brings some of the spark back, i’ve never explored CoV much other than the TFs, will be playing an unfamiliar-to-me AT also (stalker)
  11. i’m not sure, it feels like back on live there was much more of a need for each AT in teams for some of the trickier content - e.g a strong tank, a bubbler/sonic etc everything feels a bit “samey” thesedays when you can complete any content (aside from aeon) with any team makeup and no real cooperation or mob strategy needed perhaps its more a reflection of my dreadful ability to play the game as a teenager back on live.. 😅
  12. that's not a problem - if two people with the same name appear together in a zone, PvP mode is activated and the true victor of that name will prevail
  13. for the sake of balance, i’d like to add a viewpoint that most iTrials are slightly dull once you’ve done each of them a few times over and MSR’s really are the most dull thing you could do in CoH i expect the server population is experiencing a depreciation curve after an initial surge in activity and will level off over the next 6-12 months i’m a supporter of the holy trinity and feel in the modern CoH era it has almost completely disappeared. the game has lost some of its cooperation charm from my view - every AT is the same and nothing matters. is that the reason for population decline? who knows, takes the shine off for me slightly
  14. yeah that’s the behaviour which has driven me to make an “insp free” alt - i’d often log a second account and feed myself insps via email if my main was in a mish when your two alts - both squishies - are tanking the 4 AVs at the end of the MLTF it makes the enjoyable nuances of each AT/set feel a bit meaningless
  15. hey everyone, happy easter since returning to CoH i've been a serial insper - the first step to solving a problem is admitting you have one. my email inbox is kept full of T4 insps, my trays permanently full of T3 def insps, damage etc. this has been good fun on the mind/fire dom as it takes an overpowered combo and makes it even more insane, however i feel now it's spoiling the fun slightly back on live, one of my favourite experiences was soloing a katana/invul scrapper to 50, i enjoyed it so much i did it twice! with that in mind, i've just rolled my 3rd alt in 3 years - an elec/shield stalker and have taken the measure to disable all insps from level 1 and level it within CoV for a totally new experience. there's certainly better combinations for a solo alt, however this will add to the challenge anyone else drunk on insps too much?
  16. i found out about this whilst on a team a while ago and use it often - great work mate, a really well executed concept
  17. does seem strange that MM’s are so heavily debuffed, they could definitely do with a helping hand
  18. pick me pick me! i have a poison/fire/psi i made a long time ago, recently started playing it again and realised how over the top the debuffs are on a single target great for speed runs where often the team are mostly focused on single objectives having 5 damage procs in dominate makes it a really high damage power, great combined with blaze and snipe on debuffed enemies don’t forget veng and rez, the circle of supernatural life is your gain
  19. i have made an ice/shield scrapper to play around with for similar reasons that @arcane has noted. whilst ice melee doesn’t “feel” particularly strong, having frost, freezing touch and frozen aura makes for quite a well balanced attack set if solo, i aggro a mob and then set an ice patch just round the corner, this gets them piling up nicely which allows for a good application of frost
  20. this has me interested in a sonic/fire defender, a combo i hadn’t considered before.. thanks for the inspiration!
  21. i have made this combo on test a few times and find it a really rewarding character i often try mace/shield also and whilst shield is more survivable and better damage, something about elec armour just feels more fun
  22. so.. 2.5 years on, how did your controller turn out @Lumin?
