  1. Thanks! I do have my character biographies a little more juicy in-game. I may post them next to their screenshots some day. I look forward to seeing your list when it's ready, @Ethereal Star!
  2. Welcome Home! I wish you much good fortune in regard to recruiting your other friends in to this game. I made the effort with my tabletop gaming crew, but regrettably only about half of them even dabbled, and none of them are playing currently. Most of them are on Amoung Us these days. Anyway! Glad to have you @Maelstrom Vortex, and hope to catch you around!
  3. How many jRPG characters would people make with Titan Weapon and a single feathery wing?
  4. Still working on Live. Still working on Beta. Still working on Staging. So, unless it's been disabled on Private Beta, I wouldn't say there is an immediate cause for concern. I feel the command is an excellent example of an unintended feature, and I do hope the Devs make a meaningful replacement, such as a public-access drop-pseudopet Power like the Ouroboros Portal. A Homecoming Team member did once suggest that was going to be their approach, but that particular thread was probably last year and hidden/deleted long ago. Whether that is still their intent, or ever was, is frustratingly unconfirmed.
  5. *nods to @Darmian* I've chirped on and on about it all over the place for the past . . . forever, but yeah. My ideal "endgame" would totally eschew the cosmic threats and focus on content which has a more down-to-earth impact. It would be wonderful to see more focus placed on content which expands what it means to -play- this game beyond repetitive combat grind, and to have that content accessible at all levels and foe all walks of life. For example: The fire-fighting event in Steel Canyon is BARELY scratching the surface for the sort of content which we could be exploring. The engine may be limited in a lot of ways, but we've seen that tech does exist which could be leveraged for some truly creative ventures. The "evolving" sub-instances on Atlas Park and Mercy Island, or the Signature Character story missions. These tools open a -LOT- of doors for more varied content.
  6. @Wuuren: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/22534-game-balance-the-endgame/ The specific reason listed by the Homecoming Devs in regard to their desire to rebalance Powers is in an attempt to eventually develop new endgame content. There's quite the on-going discussion on the predicted merits and risks associated with that particular direction. There's also @Piecemeal's work with the Freaklok content which boasts new challenges and difficulty in the form of new unique enemies. https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/22521-dev-diary-piecemeals-workshop-of-horrors/
  7. With eight accounts by 2009, I had spent nearly $5,000.00 on City of Heroes subscriptions, expansions, and related purchases. I pulled the plug by 2010. I could not continue to spend that kind of money on the game, and given the change in direction that was taking place at the time, it was actually not that difficult a decision to make. Of course, finding out about the sunrise and the free nature of Homecoming, well . . . creating 8 accounts straight away was a bit of a no-brainer. But what -could- have been? Well, 8 accounts, each with the monthly subscription fee? Assuming I wouldn't have spent more money on other add-ons and the like, another $10,000 or so would have been sunk in to the game. I definitely do not have that kind of money to burn any more. Honestly, never really did . . . So, for the record: Thanks to everyone who let's me continue to play on Homecoming free of monetary charge! It's appreciated.
  8. That's the kind of Origin-specific sort of thing which I could get behind, I think. A free little limited-use Power, which is overshadowed by a infinitely refillable temporary Power.
  9. Might not even be code related. Might be that the decision was based entirely on marketing and player retention schemes. Most people want the dev toolkits to get released. I want that too, but I also want to get my mitts on all the marketing and design documents that were bouncing between the devs and the publishers. There's bound to be some juicy stuff in there! But yeah; more inventory is a good thing, as far as I'm concerned. 10 Enhancement Trays, with 10 Slots a piece seems reasonable. That would cover a fully-slotted tri-form Kheldian, right?
  10. I mean, not to be too risque, but one could say a little piece in regard to the segue, and then get right back to the intended topic of the thread. I certainly wouldn't call Homecoming a wasteland in regard to new content. It would be nice to see some more of the experimental stuff getting showcased, with explanations as to why those experiments don't make the final cut. Might help encourage some discussion on how to potentially work around those problems and think outside some boxes. But seeing the new launcher Public Beta forum and the aforementioned Page 6 Preview, it's pretty clear where development resources have been going. Speaking of . . . I really gotta try to find some time to back-up all my City files and try that new launcher. If what I'm reading in those feedback threads is accurate, then I may have some concerning issues to ask about ironing out. . . . someone want to spot me a few million dollars so I can quit my job and retire to a life of playing and development? Hell, even a few thousand would let me take a couple weeks off from work . . . (seriously, not serious . . . but -if- you're just throwing money around . . . )
  11. I'm still going to say the best avenue is to remove the Medic from Soldiers and add another Soldier as a replacement. Make Summon Medic its own Power at Level 18, and give this new Medic a crashless AoE version of Serum which is suitably reduced in power to balance it out, while effectively also boosting the overall damage of the whole Mercenaries Set to midling damage output. Do we have any solid reasons for why this solution isn't ideal?
  12. All this talk about TWANGers makes me think of Rainbow: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CgbcQIT7BMc Very glad to hear you had such an enjoyable time, @Ejlertson! While I am unlikely to cross paths with you on Reunion, I do hope you get to have many more experiences like that one.
  13. Yes. Some people do. Key thing to remember: Everybody is somebody who loves something about this game, even if that might be something other people hate.
  14. Also, not a man. https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/17513-flag-emblems/page/2/?tab=comments#comment-225877 But I'm on the same page as you two as far as recycling threads. Reduces clutter, keeps the discussion in one place for easier references to previous posts, and gives the opportunity for new posts to get things back on topic after a derailment. And speaking of "back on topic" . . . The idea of adding a Portable Wardrobe Power is one which has popped up from time to time, and I fully support it! For now, the enterbase command does the trick, but the Devs have already said time and again that command will be going away. It would be wonderful for someone with a greater understanding of the technical issues associated with the costuming GUI to give us a "white paper" on the topic. Let the players really know what kind of technical hurdles we're facing in terms of creating another 7 costume slots which exist independently of the current 10 (*11, hello Arachnos). I've heard stories about the hell the Legacy Devs went through to get the Arachnos Costume Slot set up with the GUI, and that's apparently a sloppy hack, so having more details shared in regard to that would only be a good thing. Then the next step is also establishing if a Dopple can call a costume -other- than the one which the player is currently "wearing." That sounds like it should be a small thing, but again; someone more versed with the code would need to let us know how feasible that actually is. And finally, the "griefer" angle. I had asked if the GMs had seen an uptick in reports of inappropriate costumes ever since the Illusion Control Dopple option was released, but I don't recall ever seeing an answer. All the same, much like the issue in the above-linked thread, I think the most elegant solution (if perhaps one with quite a bit of overhead in terms of research and development) would be to allow individual players to have the option to /costume_ignore other players. That could also be expanded to include Power FX, which seems to be an issue which affects a significant number of players in places like Mothership Raids. I very much want customizable Henchpets. It's probably the feature request which I've engaged in the most discussions regarding. It would be wonderful to hear what the Devs think on the topic, other than their acknowledgement that it's a feature which has been requested a significant number of times.
  15. er, 'verse? https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/15343-mastermind-pet-customization/page/3/?tab=comments#comment-225666 I think you may have misread Patti's message.
  16. Shouldn't the Badge be more like "What Happens in St. Martial ..." ? And make a difficult secondary objective in the monster fight, with the additional Badge "Stays in St. Martial."
  17. Thank you very much, @Luminara! It's appreciated. But . . . which time zone?
  18. Seeing @ZorkNemesis mention some board games in the tabletop roleplaying thread made me figure: We need a thread dedicated to board games. So, quick list . . . all the classic Milton Bradley and Parker Brothers games, give or take a few dozen. Always had a soft spot for Clue and Battleship, even when I couldn't play them worth crap. Risk and Monopoly can go die in fires (not that they're bad games, per sey, but they have a way to inspire murder of one's family). Yahtzee, Mouse Trap, Connect Four, Operation . . . basically anything that had a television advertisement during the 80s. In the last twelve years or so, though, we can add some more interesting board games to the mix. Arkham Horror, Lords of Waterdeep, Pandemic, NetRunner, Settlers of Catan, Twilight Imperium, et cetera. We're absolutely spoiled for choice these days! I'm so sad that my local geek convention was closed this year (even with covid's interference). It was a wonderful place to try these games for a very affordable price. The local board game cafes too. And, of course, this list wouldn't be complete without mentioning that: Yes, I have dabbled in the Gathering of Magic. The most fun I had with it, though, is watching Loading Ready Run play the RoboRosewater draft. Beyond that? bleh.
  19. Not that I would evvvvvvvvvvver advocate for software piracy, @ZorkNemesis . . . . . . *stares at Homecoming for a long, long time* uh, but, ahem . . . BUT! I've found that playing classic NES and SNES games on emulators to be profoundly rewarding experiences, utilizing the built-in save and load state features of most of those programs. I mean, um, not that I'd EVER do something like that. . . . and admit to it.
  20. Kinetic Melee might also work well. It's not bad on Stalkers.
  21. Welcome Home, @OsmiumCoconut! We're happy to have you join us! There are a number of threads in this forum which may be helpful for you in getting in touch with other roleplayers. If you have any specific questions, I would be happy to help, and I'm sure there are many other players who would be too. You can find many of us in this forum, or in-game. The "OOC" Global Channel is pretty well populated and sees regular activity. Granted, sometimes members are just distracted or focusing on other activities, so feel free to send private Tells to anyone in the channel who you catch with a star next to their name. They're an Operator, and can provide additional help. Hope to see you soon!
  22. A haunted house base has been created for Torchbearer, thanks to @VuDu DawL and @Dacy is working on one for Everlasting. We don't have any bases offered for Indomitable or Excelsior yet, and we are SERIOUSLY understaffed with volunteers. If we don't get some more support, I'll discuss plans with the donors and see what they'd like their contributions to go toward.
  23. Interesting timing. https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/15343-mastermind-pet-customization/ just got necro'd again. As for mods specifically . . . are you suggesting that you would be alright with your Henchpets not showing up any differently to other players, so long as they were custom on your own screen, @LordBlackhole?
  24. So, @Piecemeal. What do you say? Can we have a bunch of Freaklok Tanks smash in to one another in St. Martial and form themselves in to a Mega-GigaFreak? Is that on-brand with your Freaklok crew?
  25. I'd hazard to say that "don't be disruptive" is generally just good advice in most polite social environments.
